  1. A lot of the shuttles were extra as assigned trips. We had shuttle trips on the S51 too and this morning was the first time that I’ve found that one out.
  2. The lot of them had problems come up that weren’t worth fixing. I know 2226 had a steering problem and it was the first one to go.

  4. If artics come out here, they’re going to go to Charleston. Castle can house an artic but I don’t see it making it through all the shifting maneuvers that go down. And with the way TA is tryna stiff us every other month, I’m surprised we even still show up to work.
  5. Moving around the routes won’t eliminate the problem of coming off the wall to back into the stand. If let’s say I’m on the 52 and the only parking spot is on the wall in the front, I’m going to park up there. I could see the 40 being moved over to A and displacing a route but that would disturb the grouping of the ramps. The S90x idea was pitched during COVID and we were told that we couldn’t do it because we can’t make a route that serves one group of people. A super express can work but the 90 is already somewhat a super when you think about it.
  6. The biggest issue with artics on the 40 is the ferry. We have no business backing one up there. If you’ve been there as of late during PM rush, you know how much of a madhouse it can be, especially when the boat is late and you have 2 boats worth of buses there. It’s the same issue in Brooklyn.
  7. You will keep your tier but will fall into TA’a 25/55 plan.
  8. I explained the differences between the two here. If all of it doesn’t matter or affects you, then it’s basically the same. If you have time served with NYCERs, you would want to be TA, so your time served carries over. https://www.nyctransitforums.com/topic/53676-mabstoa-bo-exam-0100/?do=findComment&comment=1108238
  9. The SIM23 and 24 will be operated out of Charleston Depot next pick, subject to approval by the MTA Board. Some 3000s are being transferred to Charleston at the moment to make service and will be replaced when the option order of the Prevosts are delivered.
  10. It’s the CleverDevices system like what NJT has, just a newer version with radio integration. (Hence new radios) Castleton is the depot doing the pilot and it will be expanded to the rest of SI and eventually the system.
  11. 3117, 3136 to Charleston. 8319 is stuck at Castleton for now since it has the new radio installed in it.
  12. Why it gotta be the bus drivers fault? I see the farebox reject perfectly good transfers all the time. I’ve had a farebox not write data to anyone’s cards so you could dip a card with $2.75 x1000 times and it’ll be good x1000 times. If the driver had NYCT Bus or NBP up, the farebox won’t write the transfer data over. Also the announcement system does whatever it wants. It like OMNY, works off the destination signs. Farebox can be working just fine and it’s quiet back there. Anddd, please take this same energy to go submit a claim, note the bus #, so if there is a problem with the farebox, it can get fixed.
  13. Best seat on those buses are the single seaters.
  14. There’s 57 seats, the same as any other express bus.
  15. By time you qualify, you won’t have to worry. DMV knows the extent of training. Plus, you will have a couple days after the 10 day just to prep for the road test.
  16. The first 3 buses were pilot buses built in 2016. One bus from every order goes to Ferry Street for the sole purpose of being a training bus.
  17. They’re probably talking about the BOSS exam that you take. You only have to take it once and it will be applied across all the bus op titles for the year.
  18. Nah it’s the community agreement for Manhattanville. Their buses have to be hybrids. (I know, they had RTS’s in the past) Every operator should be trained on the Novas and Xcelsiors. Or at least the new ones are.
  19. NYCT is the only division out of the 3 is that is technically the city job. The pension is managed by NYCERs while OA has a privately managed pension that is similar. If you come (or go) from another city job with NYCERs, your pension time goes with you. Your OA time does not. If let’s say you want to transfer to the subway, your time served as far as NYCERs is concerned is 0. NYCT has civil service law protections in place that OA doesn’t necessarily have to follow. While you can work out of any Brooklyn TA depot as an OA employee, that can be taken away during contract time. Also being hired under TA allows you to work in Staten Island or any of the Queens TA depots which helps if you live in Jersey, PA or deep in Long Island. When it comes to promotional exams, you can only apply if it’s for the same division. So if the MTA has two exams in the future for dispatcher for NYCT, you can’t take them. The union does its best to have OA in parity with TA but it’s still not the same. Getting your foot in the door under OA is great and it’s not a bad thing, just be aware of the stips you have by being one.
