  1. Now the supervisors will need to be supervised. Hire the next layer of management! And this is how bureaucracies get started.
  2. Well, they could run less trains since there’s less mileage of track to run on and less run time.
  3. They're going to be local for a good half of this year. They announced it a while back. It's why I don't take the even if the website doesn't mention "express-to-local."
  4. How they’ll get the line to split cleanly is another question. Right now, there are no switches connecting the Manhattan-bound local and express tracks east of the station. East of the station is presumably where the provisions for the merge are. Either they have to build a flying junction west of the station with another platform below or they have to build new switches. It’s not clear which one is easier. Don’t blame he democrats. All of these problems happened under Republican thumb and their hands-off approach to everything. Capitalism doesn’t exist to serve the common good. It exists to extract maximum money for the least amount of investment.
  5. There's a man giving instructions to someone in a wheelchair about getting to Prince Street from Brighton Line. Instructions were insane: get off at Atlantic Avenue and transfer to the or the to Broadway–Lafayette Street. 😂 I'm not gonna open my mouth. The guy seems a little unhinged.
  6. Due to 2 disabled trains, trains are going over Sea Beach. What are the odds?
  7. The entire premise of the IND was equivalent to a rail fan saying “it ought to be done my way” with the associated costs of doing so.
  8. Interestingly, during normal daytime service, Park Place and Fulton Street are the only two stations where 7 Avenue express and 8 Avenue express/local have a transfer where the platforms overlap/touch—no long corridor to walk. For 7 Avenue local those stations are at 59 Street–Columbus Circle and 168 Street. I know they were not built at the same time nor with any foresight, but had the two lines been coordinated, the station placements definitely could have been better…
  9. She didn’t swipe her MetroCard, but she sure did swipe left on you. 😂
  10. Then they sued Norwegian Cruise Line for catching the coronavirus (UK variant).
  11. Kinda wished the IND built the junction to connect 57 Street with the 8 Avenue tracks. Would've made this switcheroo unnecessary.
  12. York Street has a ✖️ switch south of the station. Totally feasible.
  13. It was all an attempt to be more gender neutral Neutral or biased depending on your inventory of genders. The former announcements acknowledged 2. Short and direct. No extraneous syllables.
  14. TBH, I'd rather have them harass me out in the open rather than on the train. At least out in the open, I can get away to some other place.
  15. Except I was on the when the left Brighton Beach first. Not only did the leave Sheepshead Bay before the even platformed, that two met across the platform at Kings Highway as well.
  16. Or a pidgeon 💩s on his face on the way up.
  17. The these days: * Brighton Beach: Hey, , we’re already leaving. * Sheepshead Bay: *huff* *puff* Why’d you leave us behind? 🥺 * Kings Highway: Oh hi there again! Finally caught up. * Newkirk Plaza: Ahhh! It's gaining on us again!
  18. Wait until speech-to-text gets better, then you won't even have to type. Stenography as a profession is also living on borrowed time. Heck, if you're looking for the old-fashioned cursive writing for greeting cards and other gifts, there is even a robot that does "handwritten" messages:
  19. No 4 Avenue service... so runs via tunnel and Brighton express to Brighton Beach and as a shuttle between 36 Street and Coney Island. The runs via bridge and Brighton local as usual. That has to be the most retarded GO. Someone going between southwestern Brooklyn and Manhattan has to choose between train-bus-train or take a detour to Coney Island via the local /, while the rerouted express dead-ends at Brighton Beach. Who is this helping exactly?
  20. 3 months since I last used the bus 6.5 months since I last took a train I never thought I'd say this, but if passenger volumes start following a downward trajectory as a result of working-from-home, then the subways should simply be shut off or made part-time. The subway needs the economy to run, but the economy might no longer need the subway to run.
  21. I'm on an out-of-service bus… weird. Not picking up anybody along the way. It's also taking a shortcut (compared to its usual route). Probably going to be my first and last “express” bus ride in a long time.
  22. Speaking of holes, let’s use this hypothetical example: Some kids set off fireworks on your lawn and makes a crater. You are very unhappy about the brown hole on your lawn. Your own kid thinks it would be fun to stand in the hole. You get very angry that your kid’s shoe prints just made the hole deeper …by a few millimeters.
