As far as the buttons with the symbols, have you considered looking at the handouts, specifically the third to last image in the first post? As far as the indicators, also known as directional signals, it is standard for Transit buses to have them at the driver's left feet. Although you are training on an Orion bus, if you watch this YouTube video at approximately 4 minutes, 18 seconds to 4 minutes, 20 seconds, and if you view this post, they are located in the same place on the Gilligan and New Flyer Transit buses as well. Similarly, if you check out this picture, which comes from this website, the Nova buses are very similar as well. Sorry. Good luck!! So if this is the case, then, according to the first page of this PDF document, why did the agency administer five [5] Civil Service Examinations for this title within a six-month period, when our Commercial Learners Permits (CLPs) are good for one [1] calendar year, before we have to take the examinations over again at the Department of Motor Vehicles? Interesting...

Yesterday, I took the Civil Service Exam for Sanitation Worker at the Queens Computer-based Testing and Application Center (CTAC). Since I was early, I decided to walk over to Queens Blvd and 82nd Avenue. Although this webpage mentions that the R-33 Subway car was sold for over $230,000 a few months ago, believe it or not, as you can see in the pictures, the Subway car is still there, without the fence or the wooden platform that was set up. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you on board! Second, from taking Exams 2611, 2612, 2613 and 2614 within the past couple of months, I would recommend to focus on this NYPD Test Prep Kit. Although this is from January of 2005, between borrowing books from the library, including those green "Passbooks" and other material, this is the best. My strong suggestion would be to take the memorization portion seriously. Third, you know that there is a thread/topic that was already created for Exams 2611, 2612, 2613, 2614 and Exam 3601, which can be found here, right? If this is the case, then why is it that, on page 3 (or page 4 of the PDF document) of the original Notice of Examination, and on page 3 of the updated Notice of Examination for Exams 2611, 2612, 2613, 2614 and 3601, it states that the applicant needs either a Class A or B CDL "with a passenger [P] endorsement and no restrictions that would preclude the performance of Bus Operator work?" Interesting...

When you go to the DMV, just talk to the representatives and you should be good to go.

My list number for Exam # 2611 is in the 300's and, to this date, I have not received a e-mail and/or text message - has anyone else who is in the 300's, or has a higher list number, received a e-mail and/or text message? Thanks in advance...

When you originally went to the DMV to get your Class C license, I'm assuming you took General Knowledge and Passenger Endorsement, correct? If so, then you just need air brakes and you should be good to go. This is NOT true, even in the private sector... Back in the summer of 2013, I went for a Class A CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), in which I took the multiple-choice examinations for General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination and Passenger Endorsement. Since I failed the 10-Day Training Session in February of 2014, I used the same CLP to successfully take and pass my first CDL road test in a tractor trailer a few months later, which is a Class A CDL. Since I had the Passenger Endorsement, I was given the "N2" restriction, which, according to the second page of this PDF document, means that, at the time, I could not operate a vehicle designated for eight or more adult passengers, such as a full-sized bus. In an effort to eliminate the N2 restriction on my license, the following summer, I went back to DMV, took the multiple-choice examination for the School Bus Endorsement, and was issued a Class B CLP. I successfully used this during the next two months, in which I took and passed a road test in a former School Bus in which I have a "M" restriction, which allows me to drive a full-sized bus, including, but not limited to, Coach Buses, School Buses, Shuttle Buses, Transit Buses, etc. with my Class A CDL. Therefore, if you look at the top of the second page of the Notice of Examination, the key words are "no disqualifying restrictions." Some restrictions which are not disqualifying, according to the second page of this PDF document, are "B" (Corrective Lenses), "E" (No Manual Transmission CMV), "K" (Intrastate only), and "M" (No Class A Passenger Vehicle). (When you enter 180 Livingston Street and for the 10-Day Training Session, the "K" restriction is acceptable. Now, once you get passed training, and you happen to get sent to Staten Island, which includes the S89 route to and from New Jersey, then that's another ballpark for another time, respectively.) Some restrictions which are disqualifying are "L" (No Airbrakes), "N1" (No vehicle designated for fifteen or more passengers), and "N2" (No vehicle designated for eight or more passengers). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Hopefully this clears up the confusion.

In addition to what was said in the previous post, have you considered using cristcdl.com to help you with the final multiple-choice examination? Back in the day when I was going for my Permit, and when it comes time for me to renew my HazMat endorsement, I use index cards to help me study, however that's just me. Finally, going forward, would you mind posting in this thread compared to this brand new thread/topic? The drug tests are valid for thirty [30] calendar days and the pre-employment paperwork is valid for ninety [90] calendar days. Keep in mind that you need to give the Medical Review Officer and the people outside of 180 Livingston Street a few business days to process the results, which Human Resources should have by Monday. In addition, have you looked at how many people are currently ahead of you? If not, click here and type your last name or "Bus Operator" into the search box. The reason why I am asking is because, since this is "Civil Service," the remaining people who are on the 4600 list have preference, followed by the people who are on the list for 7612, followed by the people for this list. The pre-employment paperwork and the medical examinations are good for ninety (90) calendar days, and the drug (urine) tests are good for thirty (30) calendar days. Therefore, chances are that you will have to start from scratch. However, if you still have the pre-employment packet saved electronically, which can be accessed by clicking here, all you have to do is change the date, update any information, print it out, and you should be good to go! Second, to be on the safe side, before you report to Zerega, I would take the tests again and get a new Commercial Learners Permit (CLP). When you report to Zerega, just make sure you tell this to your Instructor in the classroom on Day Zero. They usually ask this towards the beginning of the session. Just list everything, make sure there are no "gaps." If there are "gaps," just disclose how you were financially supported during this time (family members, unemployment, savings, etc.) Even if they are permanently closed, just list it to the best of your knowledge. As far as being fired, just disclose it and you should be fine.

Initially it is a "yes" or "no" decision, however what is nice about these particular examinations, unlike the examinations for MaBSTOA or MTA Bus Company, is that these fall under the heading or category of "Civil Service," in which you can restore your name to the list up to a maximum of three [3] times, providing the list is still active. In addition, if you can get the cell phone ticket thrown out, but not the speeding ticket, according to this webpage, if you do not obtain any more points, you should be good to go as far as getting hired.
