If You Were In Charge of The Car Roster...

If you were in charge of the the subway roster what equipment would you put where? The only condition: be realistic, lol. I'm really curious to what people would do.

Personally, I would put R32's on the (A) and R46's on the (C). And I'd put back some of the (V)'s R32's on the (F).

P.S. I'm not sure if this should go in the fantasy forum or not, but I think not so I put it here.

If I were In charge. Ill take over all Redbirds thats in work service and put em in Service B) on the (2)(5).

I would move some of the R62As on the (7) to the (5) and use some of the (4)s R142As on the (7) while the (4) goes 100% R142.

(1)(3) can share R62s/R62As

B Div:

Split the R32s from the (A)(C) and R160s on the (E) and make them all R32s/R160s

(:o back with R40, I so hate the R68 (B)s!!! [Tho since the R40As are gone, maybe take it off the (R)(V) and put em on the (;) while the (R)(V) runs R68s

The SIR, make it 100% R160 with the later option orders! :P

[bTW this is just fantasy, nothing real, so any comments against mine, plz dont comment]

The R160 is a B-Division train car and cannot be run on A-Division trackage. Therefore, your (4) and 42-Street (S) need to be reorganized. Conversely, the R62 is an A-Division car, and cannot run for (C) service (unless you want to cross a mammoth gap between the platform and the car!)

Also, some of your line assignments would most likely not work due to the number of a certain type available and the actual number needed for all of the lines being served. For example, you have the R142 serving the (1), (2), (5) and (7) services. That isn't counting the aforementioned (4) service error. There just aren't enough cars of that type to effectively run during rush hour on all of those services.

For me, I'd switch the (3) & (4)s fleets, I'd have to keep the (2)/(5) fleets the same so that the cars can still be switched. I'd switch the (6) and (7)s fleets to see how the R62As with the circle/diamond work on Pelham, and the R142As on Corona.

For the B Division, I'd switch the R44s back to Coney Island, and put the R68s at Pitkin/207th, hopefully making full-length (C) trains in the process. I'd also switch the R68s at Concourse with some of the R46s at Jamaica. Let's see how they fare on other parts of the system.

But that's just me up there.

You do that and i'll make sure you are demoted before that actually becomes official....

AMEN! Except for the R44/R68 switch. I wouldnt think (D) train riders would like to get demoted to R44s, those cars are in terrible shape.

For me, I would honestly split the (3) & (4) lines fleet instead of a complete switch. Have both lines share the cars. I like some diversity and that would totally show it.

I wouldn't do much to change the current fleet, but I've got a few ideas:

When all R160s are delivered, make the (F) completely R160 and move the surplus R46s to Pitkin for use on the (A) and the lengthened (C) consists.

Then, move all of Pitkin's R32s to Jamaica and run them on the (V) and (R) until retirement.
