NX Express Posted December 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 26, 2010 Due to inclement weather, and trains are running local in both directions from the 42nd Street-Times Square Station to the 96th Street Station. Please expect delays in service on the and trains at this time. Does this mean a possible Plan 4?

Buddy Posted December 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2010 Why are underground express services canceled while elevated express (like 4 in Brooklyn) remains?
IRT Bronx Express Posted December 26, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 26, 2010 There is no such thing as elevated express in Brooklyn... the Eastern Parkway line is underground and the New Lots line has no express tracks.
Nova RTS 9147 Posted December 26, 2010 Share #6 Posted December 26, 2010 Why are underground express services canceled while elevated express (like 4 in Brooklyn) remains? Trains from the yards are parked on the express track while underground. Above ground also (likr the Culver line). It's also a lot easier to not cancel service when said "elevated Brooklyn express" service doesn't exist.
Mark 1 Posted December 26, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 26, 2010 Soon, other lines will have local only service later on today since the snow is expected to fall until tomorrow afternoon. I would also expect B service to end early tomorrow as well.
Fresh Pond Posted December 26, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 26, 2010 The term for parking trains in the tunnels is "snow bird(s)" Soon, other lines will have local only service later on today since the snow is expected to fall until tomorrow afternoon. I would also expect B service to end early tomorrow as well. ( & trains will most likely end earlier tomorrow. Also, the Rock Pk might be extended to Euclid (it says on the winter notices but I never seen it for myself)
TwoTimer Posted December 26, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 26, 2010 Probably a typo. With the snow, looks like a Plan 4:eek: Yup, even though its Plan 1 (as you probably know, plans are set each day at 11am and for the weekend on Fridays, but for the weekend it was set last Thursday), the trains have to get underground somehow, anywhere from 1-2 feet expected. Its all hands on deck and a lot of favors (and money) being dished out right now.
mark1447 Posted December 26, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 26, 2010 Why are underground express services canceled while elevated express (like 4 in Brooklyn) remains? Some Express train service is canceled(Making local stops instead) to store cars thats in the yard to the underground using express and/or M tracks. Otherwise there will be a boo boo for leaving the yard during the rush.
