New York to pay engineering firm to analyze extension of 7 train to New Jersey

What a waste of money. Time and time again the do-nothing suits vilify the workers (yes, there's a difference between an empty suit and an employee) while they piss away gobs of money on useless "consulting" and "studies".

That Bloomberg budget for you.

We got no money, cuts everywhere but wasting money on building steet parks and stupid studies.

250,000 can help some teachers stay in school, transit employee , fire station open.

Nope not in NYC.

S/F,

CEYA!

Why are we talking about this when Amtrak already planned the Gateway Project. It seems like the Gateway Project already won. The (7) extension would most likely not happen so it's time to drop it.

We are talking about this because research is underway to see if a 7 train extention to NJ is viable.

I thought it was only for Amtrak 'cause Christie rejected the NJT tunnel share?

The tunnel was always for both Amtrak and NJT to share.

If they could spend money on a study for the (7) to NJ, then why couldn't a study be done for a subway-freight tunnel to Staten. New Jersey already has the NJT, Amtrak, ferries, and bridges to get to New York.... and Staten Island just has the ferry and bridge. What the world, get the priorty straight City Hall... Real Talk!!!!
