bknightshadow45 Posted November 22, 2012 Share #76 Posted November 22, 2012 Basically the training will detail how to complete various different types of surveys for the trains and buses in all elements of weather.
JCP28 Posted November 23, 2012 Share #77 Posted November 23, 2012 I guess that pretty much sums it all up in a nutshell. Is there a final test after the training?
bknightshadow45 Posted November 23, 2012 Share #78 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) For my training class a final test was planned but at the last minute my instructor decided not to give the training class the final. If there is a final don't stress about it. As long you don't have any problems doing your work you do fine in the final. JCP28 Posted January 17, 2013 Share #81 Posted January 17, 2013 I have no idea when the MTA will call people again for the the next class. What's up bknightshadow45. It's been a while since our last post. How are you making out for this new year as a bonafide traffic checker?
bknightshadow45 Posted January 19, 2013 Share #82 Posted January 19, 2013 Work been going well so far. Lately in the past few weeks I been doing surveys on board the buses and report to the bus depots. Next week marks 3 months since I started working for the MTA.
JCP28 Posted January 20, 2013 Share #83 Posted January 20, 2013 Sounds cool. So, you're probably working various hours and days depending on the particular run on that depot. Man, I wish that I was working now. Congrats on the three months on the job. Question, how long is the probation period for this position?

Not bad. Have you also chose your RDO's for the week, or do you have to wait to gain some seniority in order to get your own days off?
Will-Bx-718 Posted January 29, 2013 Share #88 Posted January 29, 2013 He's more than likely extra so, no he can't pick whatever rdos he wants. Even when he can pick he'll be stuck with m/t or t/w rdos anyway. With a higher turnover rate in that title due pay rates you probably could move up in seniority faster though.
bknightshadow45 Posted January 29, 2013 Share #89 Posted January 29, 2013 I currently have Saturday and Sunday for my RDO's. I always have weekends off since training. Most of my training class have weekends off since most checkers for this pick have weekends off. Due to seniority you don't have a choice of the RDO's you want. How it works is that you pick a job depending on where you fall on your seniority, then whatever is left you get the RDO's that is available.

I'm looking forward to this next phone call from transit, if they ever call. But, as always, we've got to be patient. If there's any other updates, please let us know of what to expect.

JCP28 Posted February 8, 2013 Share #99 Posted February 8, 2013 Well, I went to the Human Resources department at the MTA this morning. Went through the orientation for about an hour with the trainers, and then handed in my application along with my documents. Now, all I got to do now is wait, again. They said that their next training class will take place on March 11th. That's a month from now in order for the MTA to thoroughly check everyone's background. Good luck to everyone.
