Amtrak Posted April 9, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2012 I was wondering if the voices on the new tech trains will ever be changed? I thought it would be nice to change the voices around every 5 years to freshen up the announcements.
CDTA Posted April 9, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 9, 2012 I thought the A-2's had different announcements.
Roadcruiser1 Posted April 9, 2012 Share #3 Posted April 9, 2012 No and they will never be changed. The same voices are programmed so they will be like that permanently.
Guest Lance Posted April 9, 2012 Share #4 Posted April 9, 2012 Never say never. Remember that Melissa Kliener's line announcements were replaced with Jessica's back in '03 and '04. While I can't imagine them replacing the announcements any time soon, as the years go on and the Bloomberg gang is no longer available to do voice overs, they could change them to keep consistency among each line's announcements and announcers. Harry Posted April 9, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 9, 2012 I for one think the gentleman announcing the advisories and door closing needs to be changed. I find his voice annoying sometimes. I'm definitely all for it.

Brighton Express Posted April 9, 2012 Share #8 Posted April 9, 2012 I heard that the R62s/R68[A]s will be getting automated announcements about the same time that they get the LED window signs.
FriedChikkin Posted April 9, 2012 Share #9 Posted April 9, 2012 THIS is a Middle Village, Metropolitan Avenue-bound 'M', local train... the next and last stop is... I don't care, just cut them short!!! If I'm at Fresh Pond Road, for example ALL I want to hear is the next and last stop is...
T to Dyre Avenue Posted April 10, 2012 Share #10 Posted April 10, 2012 Agree and display a visual "Next and last stop" message between the last two stops on any given line. The experimental R110A train was capable of doing that. As for the voices, they should leave them as they are, unless they extend any given line or its transfers change and the person who originally recorded the announcments is not available to do new ones. PATCOman Posted April 10, 2012 Share #11 Posted April 10, 2012 I don't like the voice on the F specifically "This is a Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue bound F train".
Dan05979 Posted April 10, 2012 Share #12 Posted April 10, 2012 I notice on the F the announcments are faster than other lines. Did they speed it up a little just because theres so many stops on the F and it would make trains later than usual?

Harry Posted April 10, 2012 Share #14 Posted April 10, 2012 I don't know why Charlie's voice is so different on the subway. He sounds better on the LIRR... It almost sounds robotic. Maybe that's why it annoys me.
