Tokkemon Posted August 5, 2012 Share #101 Posted August 5, 2012 I measured it on Google Earth. Beach 98 st is 643.3 ft eastbound and 842.6 ft westbound. Aqueduct - North Conduit is 836.6 feet southbound and 701.1 feet northbound or 1,059.6 feet if you count the abandoned section to the north of the station. Snowblock Posted August 9, 2012 Share #110 Posted August 9, 2012 The longest subway platform is North Conduit N/B at 1069 ft (Willets Pt is 884, B98 is 839, 34-6 is 747) Shortest is Park Place at 170 (Botanic Garden is 173). Or 1st Ave-42 St at maybe 5 ft........
Snowblock Posted August 10, 2012 Share #111 Posted August 10, 2012 Okay, we all know what the LONGEST distance between 2 local stations is, but what is the SHORTEST (hint it's not Beverly Rd despite a common misconception). And what is the longest distance express run between 2 stations?
TeeCoZee Posted August 10, 2012 Share #112 Posted August 10, 2012 It may not count, but the shortest local distance would be the between N. Conduit and Aqueduct Racetrack. And I feel like the longest distance would be the from 59th to 125th?
Snowblock Posted August 10, 2012 Share #113 Posted August 10, 2012 Conduit & Aqueduct is the correct answer IF you measure from the end of the abandoned portion of the platform. If you measure from the gate at Conduit to Aqueduct (aka the actual distance traveled between stations), then there are a couple of stations which are closer. 59-125 is close, but not quite the longest. Guest Lance Posted August 10, 2012 Share #114 Posted August 10, 2012 1) Is it Intervale Av and Simpson St on the White Plains Rd line? 2) Forest Hills-71 Av to Roosevelt Av-Jackson Heights?

Tokkemon Posted August 10, 2012 Share #118 Posted August 10, 2012 Chamber St to Park Place What about the IRT Broadway center track? According to the track maps it goes from 96 St to just after 145 St and then Dyckman St to Van Cortlandt Park. As far as I know it hasn't been used for express service but it certainly is physically possible.
Snowblock Posted August 11, 2012 Share #119 Posted August 11, 2012 Yep, 180-3Av and Chambers to Park (13985 ft and 627 ft according to the TOD!) There is no normal 1 service which uses the middle track. Even during GOs, the switches between 137 and 125 or 215 and 225 will be used if possible.
