Shortline Bus Posted August 2, 2012 Share #2 Posted August 2, 2012 So many people at work or even in schools i.e high school and colleges fade off go to all types websites including sports gambling and porn(yes some ladies go on as well lol) on paid time. Thus this issue is not new. What is new is how this issue has costs Businesses of all types at least Hundred of Millions in lost productivity. Thus one of America's largest single Employer by a government agency has now made it an issue. Porn and Sports Gambling are by far the two biggest websites when workers goof off the job. I am surprised this has not gotten more media attention.
checkmatechamp13 Posted August 2, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted August 2, 2012 Well, most schools have some kind of filter. I mean, if I can't access certain transit blogs from school, I highly doubt I can access porn (and I don't intend to test it out. LOL) I'm surprised the Pentagon didn't have any kind of filter. In any case, I think the biggest issue there was the fact that the security could've been compromised. I mean, goofing off on company time is one thing, but I think the security threat is a bigger issue. I mean, I'm sure there are sites out there that can leave spyware or somehow use the tracking cookies to break into the computer, which obviously isn't a good thing at the Pentagon. QM1to6Ave Posted August 2, 2012 Share #4 Posted August 2, 2012 Whenever I walk down the Highline, the people in the offices right next to the track are always watching porn with their shades open. I would guess most of them are managers/bosses, since they have big offices with great views. I can never figure out if they forget their windows are open or they just don't care. realizm Posted August 3, 2012 Share #6 Posted August 3, 2012 I really despise the porn industry it's disgusting. Abusively perpertrating sexist and even racist views of women. Not trying to throw out the feminist card - their views are just as warped -- but it is what it is. I can break it down if anyone likes. Many women are practically forced into the porn industry to escape poverty, with promises of glamour, classy parties, status, and a career, only to be tricked into being raped on set with cameras rolling. I knew a friend who got herself tripped up in it. She was in so much pain in a way I can't repeat here that she had to soak herself in a bath of espon salts and even got addicted to pain killers to dull the injuries she sustained from having to perform several times a day on one gig. F*ck you a$$holes at the Pentagon, you caused enough women to end up raped in Vietnam because of the sickos that supposedly are here for democracy and freedom. Shortline Bus Posted August 3, 2012 Share #7 Posted August 3, 2012 @Realizm. Not trying to turn this into a debate on porn but just playing devil's advocate? The question is fact the porn industry worldwide is now a Billion dollar industry. Secretly or not, the fastest growing customer base (watching a CNBC special about it a year or so ago) is actually Young adult woman ages 18-40. Lot of times to 'share it with their hubby/BF's." And a few using actresses/actors using it as a way to cross over for reality shows? Even Porn Star Ron Jermey had a VH1 reality show few years back. The explosion of porn into mainstream society shows how America is in a culture war IMO. If the Porn Industry could be legal IMO so should prostitution(for adults ages 18 and over.) Back to topic. Also what about issue about sports gambling websites being used on the job? That should have been included on the ban list by the Pentagon as well. That could risk national security? realizm Posted August 3, 2012 Share #9 Posted August 3, 2012 No problem, back on topic. An employee is under investigation because the administrator found a user on a workstation surfing an unauthorized website after viewing the IP adresses logged on the proxy server running on Windows Server 2008 R2. I had to remove the malware that was on it using Norton based utilities, on a workstation running a virtual image of Windows 7 Professional, While looking at the Event Viewer from the Administrative Tools settings under the Internet Explorer tab I saw the keywords which included "gangbanging Japanese whores". The network administrator confirmed it looking at the logs on the web server. That says alot about what people look at when they are at work. That's my point. You have to consider that it's probably a small base, so that's why the percentage of increase is the most (If it goes from 100 to 110, it's not as large percentage-wise as going from 5 to 10). I remember an article saying they were actually gearing the stuff towards teenagers (ages 13-20 or something like that).
realizm Posted August 3, 2012 Share #15 Posted August 3, 2012 This is what I am trying to say. An Asian-American point of view on the subject. Other Asian American members on this forum don't necessarily have to even agree with me either. Because our experiences are relative to the enviorment that we grew up in and our nationalistic origin of birth. This is *not* a simple black vs white issue. Many Asians are dealing with racism that pretty much has to do with either the model minority myth or what is usuall;y refered to as "orientalizm" or "fetishism". In the porn industry, Asian females are protrayed all the time as exotic sexual creatures that would stop at nothing to sexually please the white man. This attitude that is protrayed against Asian American women and sisters oversees goes way beyond just fapping while watching porn. We're talking about racist stereotypes here. Now the employee in question has clearly offended alot of Asian female co-workers. This is why this whole investigation came up leading me to what I saw on his workstation confirming what the network administrator said. By the way, he blew a gasket when he saw those IP addresses and linked to it. He has every right to be offended. He is a sucessful married Chinese American man with children. The cracker asiaphile will get fired trust me. He's blatently breaking every policy in my firm in the book from racial discrimination to sexual harrassment. That's where I'm coming from. realizm Posted August 3, 2012 Share #17 Posted August 3, 2012 I'll explain. A man who harbors the racist attitude that he may have towards Asians particularly the women. The man happens to be white. Hence my reference as you quoted above.
Shortline Bus Posted August 3, 2012 Share #18 Posted August 3, 2012 cracker asiaphile? WTH is that. Joe Maybe realizm was watching an old "Jeffersons" show in which star Sherman Hemsley recently passed away would call whites 'crackers' or 'honky' lol. I have not heard the term "cracker" since Chris Rock did the Black Power spoof "Nat X" sketch on Saturday Night Live in the mid 1990's lol. CenSin Posted August 3, 2012 Share #20 Posted August 3, 2012 As much as I'd love to inject my anti-Japanophile (especially white Japanophiles) comments into this thread, I think someone has said it all already and in a much less inflammatory way. Black on Asian? It's okay as long as white people stay out of minority business. The real issue here is still the fact that porn makes all workers unproductive. Shortline Bus Posted August 3, 2012 Share #22 Posted August 3, 2012 Seriously while racism has still does and will always exist, the personal comments by realizm could been less controversial in his takes. Not all Whites are racists and while he explained the sterotypes of Asians in relation to the sex industry, well, lets return to topic and NOT A FLAME WAR Please. Or else we will lock this. Thank You
realizm Posted August 3, 2012 Share #23 Posted August 3, 2012 Who said we must harbor resentment against all white people? I don't remember saying that. So why are some people questioning it? Is it because some people choose to ignore what many Asian Americans go through. Be my guest and lock the thread. The truth hurts, that's life. However many Asians choose to be proud of themselves and not put up with that form of racism.

You allowed to speak the trurth but my concern is this topic going away off topic. While I am not Asian, I know this is a deep emotional issue for you realizm. However the idea of this thread was oringally issue on porn at the work place as a whole including the Pentagon. Instead has turned into the issue of asian woman being expolited in sex biz and until recently how European powers control the so called third world i.e Asia, Africa and Latin America. Frankly issues about race can turn into a flame war. This is mainly a transit site so there chat website realizm you can talk about these issues affecting Asians worldwide. Realizm feel free to open a topic on that. If not this is now closed.
