m7zanr160s Posted November 7, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 7, 2012 Those don't look like SMS'd sets. I figure they'd send the best ones out there, with no maintenance shop.
ttcsubwayfan Posted November 7, 2012 Share #6 Posted November 7, 2012 I would totally go hunt these down if I was in New York. If I have free time and nothing better to do, why not?
Grand Concourse Posted November 7, 2012 Share #7 Posted November 7, 2012 Those don't look like SMS'd sets. I figure they'd send the best ones out there, with no maintenance shop. Agreed. Also what's going to happen to those sets now that it's snowing out? I hope the move wasn't for nothing.

R32 3838 Posted November 8, 2012 Share #9 Posted November 8, 2012 look at 3406/7's trucks they are SMS'ed, 3514/15 had also gotten SMS'ed, about 6 out of the 8 cars that were layed up there were SMS'ed R32's, to the people who thought R46's were gonna be on there, I spoke to one of the MTA people and THEY told me WHY they didn't use the R46's, they said the R46's would have been To heavy for the crane to lift so they used the R32's instead and just to let people know the R32's are one of the lightest cars in the system, so it makes sense, yeah the R46's also have A-A cars but they didn't want to risk lifting them and then drop, bad enough the system might loose 2 R46 trainsets, (they are at pitkin Yard now for inspection) so be greatful for whoever live in the rockaways that you are gonna have shuttle service, the MTA made the right choice using R32's IMO Who knows, they might even sign them up as . Nice work nontheless. they most like will since its 2 scrolls away from
R32 3838 Posted November 8, 2012 Share #10 Posted November 8, 2012 Agreed. Also what's going to happen to those sets now that it's snowing out? I hope the move wasn't for nothing. they stopped the liffting about around 7am, they moved them by 2 trucks, one flatbed truck leaves the other stays to bring the other R32 down, it took them in a total of atleast 2-3 hours per car, they started in the afternoon, I heard it took 4 hours for the first one, but by the 3rd car they got it up in no time, hopefully they covered up the trucks and etc.
