MCI only bidder for all 160 NJT CNG buses !

Yes but I meant all 160 was a little surprising. Because of the legal issues might tie up the 76 order.

The company went bankrupt, NJT had every right to dump DesignLine, and you think DesignLine will waste the money on pursuing legal action against NJT they're likely to lose on when they're bankrupt?

Technically, New Jersey Transit owes Designline $$ for buses that are already delivered and in service. So they CAN. Meanwhile, Designline owes NJT 3 million in late fees.

Hopefully we don't end up waiting a long for them either, which I doubts gonna happen considering MCI basically has CT's built already. I think all they have to do is equip them with CNG powertrains and send them on their way.

It ain't that easy, they're gonna have to build them from scratch with NJT specs. They're not gonna try and f**k themselves over like they did with the D4000 order and the D4500CL order which had transit bitching about specs.

And it's gonna be a good minute before they end up coming through, Transit has to finalize the end of the Designline contract first, or, Designline can end the contract themselves. Otherwise, Designline can legitimately take legal action even in their state of bankruptcy because NJ Transit would be receiving buses under false pretenses(receiving buses based on another OEM's contract/not ending the contract).

They can start building buses under the 84 bus contract.

I take it NJT wants them spec'd to have the stainless steel underlining and restyled backs?

They're probably gonna address that finalization to end the contract next week at the board meeting.

Somewhat off topic but I read those Designlines uses ZF Transmissions....................please tell me NJT didn't decide on using 12 speed buses like Greyhound does with their ZF's..............UGH

Nah, they use the transmission similar to our artics here in NYC, so they actually move compared to the 12 speeds.

You think the windows are gonna be frameless on the outside like the DesignLines? Or do you think NJT will go with the framed windows? I hope they go with the frameless windows because they'd look really nice.

They'll most likely go framed with the rest of the MCI fleet.

Aw man. Now it's gonna be hard to distinct them from 7100s.

But NJT did order Academy's newest MCIs with frameless windows so there is 50% chance of them doing this with the new fleet.

So to my understanding it's possible to still receive a fleet of Designline's, is that correct at this time?

Nah, DesignLine is going bankrupt, so part of the 84 bus order is going to be used to replace the older CNGs. We're not getting anymore DesignLines. Matter of fact, MCI might take the DesignLines off NJT's hands since they were such a problem to the drivers. MIGHT.

If so, NJT can go suck it, they are completely pathetic, and I'll probably never move to NJ because they are so retarded.

Seems like as rather baseless and miniscule reason for not moving to New Jersey, just my opinion.

Alright, I believed otherwise.

Oh, OK I get it now. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Still annoyed with NJT for letting it get this far. I'm sure the Howell B/O's will want to be rid of the existing eco-craps, not sure any B/O would like a bus that requires a wheel to be straight for the door to open.  :D

Well that and Ocean Joke...and Veolia/Monmouth which seems much worse than NICE.

From what I've read, they want those buses gone, and with good reasoning behind it. Don't get me wrong the ECOCoach was a sleek-looking bus, but the fact that it gave the Howell B/O's trouble, and that the rest never got delivered just turned them off to me.

LOL, you get what you pay for I suppose. After all it is the suburbs, weigh the pros and cons.

Problem is Ocean and Monmouth have lagged behind other suburban areas with transit, such as Nassau & Westchester, even Suffolk Transit, which I used to complain about, until I saw how bad Ocean Crap is. Many areas down there have no bus service at all, take Stafford Township with all it's shopping centers, there's no bus service (well there may be one that runs once a week). LBI - No bus service, despite being a major summer destination. Fischer Blvd in Toms River with Shop-Rite, no bus service. No bus service along Rt.37 to Lakewood. No bus service in countless areas in Monmouth County. Freehold Raceway Mall not served by NJT except along Rt.9 with a dicey walk, otherwise you're stuck with the once in a blue moon 67 or the Veolia routes. Suffolk Transit looks pretty good compared to what is available down there. And it can take you to some pretty rural-like places. I'm just saying some suburbs do have better transportation than others. In Monmouth & Ocean buses are only for NYC commuters, not local travel, in most cases. The problem is this stagnates ridership & promotes driving (more traffic). Ocean-Ride doesn't even serve the College!

Of course Route 9 is NJT's Bread & Butter down there, and is the only area really served well by buses, and the riders there won't put up with unreliable lemons, and can just as easily drive to a rail line or PATH. I'd hate to see Route 9 ridership decimated and having the only decent bus line down there cut back.

That's the thing, it was a sleek looking coach design, slapped on a transit bus body, had fail written all over it. Looks aren't everything, not with buses anyway.
