R188 7857 Posted May 6, 2014 Share #152 Posted May 6, 2014 Now, I hear that there was a hairline crack that was found in the rails in that area, which lead to a replacement in March, which then lead to the broken rail which caused this derailment. (From pix11) May be the cause. Most likely that was the cause because the motorman in the R46 was not speeding or anything but when he reached that track area, he was slowing down and things didn't look right or sound right. SevenEleven Posted May 9, 2014 Share #156 Posted May 9, 2014 Where are the cars involved in the accident at the moment. If they're not on the layup tracks east of Queens Plaza, then they're at Coney Island.
itmaybeokay Posted May 12, 2014 Share #157 Posted May 12, 2014 If they're not on the layup tracks east of Queens Plaza, then they're at Coney Island. Were those the cars in the accident that were sitting on D5 for a few days afterwards? Those are gone now, but I had gotten a few motor numbers off of them and compared them to the ones said to have been involved and unless I had something wrong they didn't match.
