A few of things to note here. First, Orion 05.501 #173-229 series that you have at Gun Hill are ALL 1993 models. Second, Orion 07.501 Low Floor "New Generation" Hybrid #3863-3924 are for Staten Island (#3800-3874 to Castleton and #3875-3924 to Yukon and in MID 2009 Castleton will receive #4000-4059 as per "MTA_SI" from BusChat. He works in S.I.) Third, as those buses come into Staten Island, Staten Island, Bronx and Manhattan will be "RTS free" and therefore...Queens and Brooklyn will have the bulk of the RTS buses. Fourth, Orion 05.501 #400s, #500s and #600s are not going to be retired as those buses will most likely come into Manhattan to replace the RTS buses at Quill and 126th St. By that time, Manhattanville COULD go ALL Hybrid with the POSSIBILITY (I'm guessing here) that Queens Village gives up their Hybrids to Manhattanville. Manhattanville just about has enough RTS buses to cover that swap if it was to happen. By the way, those "Orions invading Manhattan" movement should begin within the next 18 months or so. Fifth, Orion 05.501 #6120-6220 are for Castleton and #6250-6349 are for Yukon. I don't know about Orion 05.501 #6000-6119 and #6221-6249 as of yet. They could be Manhattan bound as well. Wait and see! Sixth, it is expected that West Farms, Gun Hill and even Kingsbridge are to receive NG Hybrid buses. Now points #2-6 was information provided by "MTA_SI" from BusChat. So I hope some of this info helps. Now sit back and relax as this gets VERY interresting!

'89 Liberty MCI 2 Posted October 10, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 10, 2008 Kingsbridge never received any 600x, 601x, or 602x except 6002 recently, which we have now. When we received 6xxx for the first time in 2004, it started with 6078 and went in decreasing order. Lowest numbered 6xxx we had before receiving 6002, was either 6030, 6031, or 6032. There are other depts that are hungry and Bronx is not in dire need except maybe Kingsbridge. Well, in this particular post, we was reffering to The Bronx. Brooklyn will get some NEW buses in 2009 because if you think about it...not ALL 745 NG Hybrids are just for Staten Island and The Bronx. According to the MTA, EVERYBODY (including Jamaica once they get a NEW depot because the current one can't hold Hybrids) will be getting the NG Hybrids. Actually I'm wrong...everyone except Jackie Gleason. MTA Bus will get 106. It would be VERY interesting to see where those buses will go. Look out LaGuardia, Spring Creek and dare I say it...College Point?

Orion 27 Posted October 11, 2008 Share #11 Posted October 11, 2008 Let me give you my 2 cents:The city is not only made of Bronx. There are other depts that are hungry and Bronx is not in dire need except maybe Kingsbridge. Do you even go to the Bronx? Have you been there? I'm sure you haven't. We need NGs for Gun Hill, and sadly Kingsbridge, where they will get ruined at. Even West Farms got these 1993 Orion Vs now, we got 308 there now also. These 100 series Orion V need to retire soon for the most part. You say this like the Bronx got all the newest buses, our newest bus is from 2004 unless you include the MCIs. And Kawasaki3, Jackie Gleason do not have any Hybrid buses at all, those are CNG, BIG difference. You can tell by the sound, looks, transmissions, etc. It's not hard at all to tell them apart. Q43 Floral Park 39 Posted October 13, 2008 Share #12 Posted October 13, 2008 Kingsbridge never received any 600x, 601x, or 602x except 6002 recently, which we have now. When we received 6xxx for the first time in 2004, it started with 6078 and went in decreasing order. Lowest numbered 6xxx we had before receiving 6002, was either 6030, 6031, or 6032. 6031 was the lowest KB bus. Orion: There are more GH buses driving around with gaping holes in them then KB buses. Transitman: West Farms is probably not getting NG's as JG's CNGS are supposed to go up there (with CP CNGS going to JG). If the 400-600s are Manhattan Bound, KB is definately getting O7s as they aren't sending RTSs up there. Also 6000-6030 are for the BX (most likely GH) should be there by Nov. When The Bx gets NG's they won't jack them up. Last buses that the KB and GH got brand new were 1999 RTS
Orion 27 Posted October 13, 2008 Share #13 Posted October 13, 2008 Orion: There are more GH buses driving around with gaping holes in them then KB buses. Those are only the 1993s though...They close to retiring anyways. #193 is a perfect example of Gun Hill at it's finest. But thier Orion Vs have more pick up in general than Kingsbridge Orion Vs.

They got great Novas, but slow TMCs. 8412 is just one perfect example.

Secondly, according to someone on buschat, there is a 39xx at Jackie Gleason that will be there for a total of two weeks for training purposes. That could possibly mean that the JG Depot and affiliated routes could receive some sister Orion 07 service in the southern West Brooklyn. I really hope this is true because I think the NGs would look pretty good on the B8, B35, B67, and B75, among other routes under that depot.
