TheMTAEmprie Posted February 17, 2023 Share #1 Posted February 17, 2023 Seeing that every other burrough and/or county in the area is redesigning their network, is NICE planing to do the same? I aware of the new n75 bus line that they launched recently, but anything more extensive in the works?
TheMTAEmprie Posted February 17, 2023 Author Share #2 Posted February 17, 2023 For starters, they can eliminate the n57 and merge it with the n58. Also axe the n21 as it's kinda pointless now.
RailBus63 Posted February 17, 2023 Share #3 Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) Be careful what you wish for- given Nassau County's sorry history of support for public transit, any redesign would probably result in fewer buses on the street and lots of 'microtransit' vans running around. They've constantly been making changes every couple of months. The current network looks nothing like it did when they first inherited it, and sadly it's not for the better.

There's already MicroTransit in Nassau County. NICE has it's own service that operates similarly to Uber.

Problem with this is two-fold: 1) The n57 definitely doesn't need off peak service; it's practically perfect for its purpose.... OTOH, the n58 definitely needs off-peak service (how much of it, is the question).... Combining both of those routes would immensely overserve that whole eastern part of Kings Point & Great Neck.... 2) The n58 is interlined with the n25. Coincidentally enough, I thought about gunning for the n21, but it was a no-show (the 11:18 trip)... Ended up taking the 11:24 LIRR train over to Woodside instead.... Considering the rest of my fantrip after the fact, I'm glad it did no-show.. Lol.... In any event, I'm inclined to agree with you on this, as most of the n21's patronage these days is interchangeable with the n20H.... Aside from cutting it (n21) back from Flushing, the bastardizing of the n27 also ended up looming detrimental to n21 patronage....

EDIT: Also, I'm a bit confused, the map (shown revised 7/21/22) shows something resembling the old N36, but the description mentions something between the Meadowbrook and Wantagh, north of Merrick Road and south of Hempstead Turnpike. Are they adding a second zone for SE Nassau? Edited February 21, 2023 by checkmatechamp13

Are they adding a second zone for SE Nassau? They appear to be planning up to 5 lines, according to https://www.ridemini.com. The zone mentioned, not already included in line #1, consists of East Meadow/Bellmore/Wantagh.
