Amtrak7 Posted March 10, 2009 Share #51 Posted March 10, 2009 The only weekend express bus service to Manhattan is the X1, X10, and X17C (Sat. only). The 3 local buses to 86 St. can also be an option, but the is pesky.

Amtrak7 Posted March 10, 2009 Share #55 Posted March 10, 2009 Where's your hotel? The JFK area seen in the map? If you've never been on it, railfan the AirTrain to Jamaica from Federal Circle. Fare's $5, though.

VinnyBrooklyn Posted March 10, 2009 Share #57 Posted March 10, 2009 Actually the Air train would be free as long as he got on at federal circle and did a loop or so and didn't get off in Jamaica or Howard Beach.
Smoot178 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Share #58 Posted March 12, 2009 Today I saw an Amtrak Acela train going West somewhere in the Bronx. Those trains are really cool looking!
Smoot178 Posted March 13, 2009 Author Share #59 Posted March 13, 2009 Well I got to ride the SIR today and it certainly was "Different". Perhaps since it was my first time in a Subway Car above ground. Anyways. What do you recommend for Cable/Internet? I know there is Comcast, Verizon, and Time Warner, but I'm not sure which to recommend.

Locomotion69 Posted March 15, 2009 Share #65 Posted March 15, 2009 Your hotel is in the JFK grounds, right? You are definitely in Queens. That is where they stole his van and trailer right? That area is very desolate, mainly a lot of air cargo buildings and warehouses. His last known location is on Staten Island though,a lot safer than were he was before. Orion Posted March 15, 2009 Share #69 Posted March 15, 2009 Well this is a win lose, win lose situation. If his iPhone is in the trailer then we can track the trailor, but he doesn't have the leet iPhone on him. BUT if he has his iPhone atleast he has his iPhone, but not the trailer. I think he has his phone but I'm not sure, I'll check that out when he signs on AIM again. I'm sure the truck was just towed not stolen.
Smoot178 Posted March 16, 2009 Author Share #70 Posted March 16, 2009 Alright just to clarify: That is what was taken. We called 311 and NYPD that day we found out and they flagged the tags on the trailer and van. Remember we came up in 2 cars. We still have the Ford Escort Wagon. Some of the stuff we lost that was in the trailer: My Mothers Fathers coin collection (really sentimental) Our LCD TV All my computer stuff Our cat We really hope she is okay and that the people responsible don't do anything horrible to her A small part of the coin collection was in the back of the Escort so we were slightly relieved. I had also left my computer tower in the back so I still have that (but nothing else). To be honest we could care less about the stuff that can be re-bought but we are really at a loss when it comes to the irreplaceable stuff. I do still have my iPhone I just turned off tracking because I need to use maps alot to get around. We moved from the Marriott at JFK to the Howard Johnson at Newark Airport. The parking lot is alot safer (and secure). We are about to leave for Staten Island for apartment hunting. By the way if anyone happens to come across a Florida license plate on the van (A19 7CR) or a U-Haul with (GCK 399) Florida Fleet tags, call NYPD. Where are you starting from? JFK? You have to take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station. 5 bucks for the ride. LIRR tickets depend on time of day and length travelled. On weekends you have the CityTicket which allows you to ride on the LIRR for any section within the city for one way during the weekend. Not valid for Rockaway trains though, as they pass through Nassau Cty to reach a city destination.
Paul P Posted March 16, 2009 Share #74 Posted March 16, 2009 Long Island Railroad? or you meant some other transportation from NJ into the city? I really feel for your belongings in the moving van and the U-Haul. How did it happen?
