  1. Do some of the PM runs of the BxM18 still have a light amount of passengers? When I junior in high school I remember coming home and seeing relatively empty BxM18s' heading towards Riverdale.
  2. Late night misadventures: I was waiting for my train at the 86th street station (on the IRT 7th avenue line) when these three drunk frat boy a**holes start pissing on the track and on the platform. If you haven't picked it up from my little story don't go to this station until the T/A cleaners clean this mess up. Fast forward: When I finished my little trip I see this dude at the 23rd street station rolling up some weed, lighting it up, and smoking it right on the platform. I stood next to him for awhile; I might have gotten high. Gotta love the MTA.
  3. You can't compare the M31 to the M104 for several reasons. Firstly the M104 and M31 serve two different sets of riders with different needs. Most of the people on the M31 are business type people looking to reach their job in midtown or connect with a north-south subway or bus. Most of the people using the M104 are people who wish to go to a location that is north of 57th street. 85% of the time there will be less then 10 people on the M104 south of 57th street. Secondly the M104's crosstown segment was useless, the M31 crosstown segment was not. People did not really use the M104 on it's crosstown segment on 42nd street. Durning rush hours their may be a crowded bus or two, but most of the ridership on the 42nd street corridor is sucked up by the M42 because it has higher headways. On the other hand the 57th street corridor does not have a high headway crosstown route so the M31 is needed to counteract the lackluster headways on 57th street bus routes. Finally the QT stated above the M104 is doing better as a route; buses are coming on time- something that never happened before.
  4. That's not a big deal at all. These people need to shut up already!
  5. No because it has not happened yet, or it my not happen. Conversely it could possibly happen. This means that their are a lot of gray areas in this type of information; facts by their very nature do not have many gray areas.
  6. If it was heading towards East New York, the MTA might be planning to put them on the J/Z. Someone in the TA told me the MTA was planning to do this. Note to those who read this: I don't know if this is definitely good to happen. So please do not take this as fact; this is till all in the planning stages.
  7. Orion V 6035 from CS is at Kingsbridge, I just saw on the Bx13.
  8. Bringing the M9 back Union Square would not be a good idea. If you did it students who attend the Salk School of Science, and the people who are coming out Bellevue would lose a viable transportation option. They make up a good portion of the M9 ridership so it would be best to keep the current northern terminal. Additionally IIRC many people did not board the M9 at Union Square.
  9. A dude was smoking on the subway last night when I was on the 6 train. Just putting that out there.
  10. On the Brighton express with R160 cars, couldn't get any better :)

Late Late Late!!!!! Get yo a$$ home ;P. On the other hand forgot something about yesterday! Ill get to u soon.

  11. Lol on the second women who operates the 18. Time wise he did great. He hauled ass down St.Nick and flew down the drive. He made it to Riverdale in about 35 minutes from my starting point, 96th street. The man was a veteran no doubt. I have always had luck with the BxM2 and BxM1 ever since the days when Liberty Lines operated those routes. Liberty Lines ran those route better but I digress.
  12. Oh yeh Via I wanted to ask you this: I was on the BxM1 yesterday heading up to Riverdale and my bus driver took an interesting route. He headed west on 106th turned onto Madison, drove down to 116th street, turned again onto St. Nicholas, continued down St. Nick until we got onto the Harlem River drive. Does this kind of detour happen often? Note: I understand why he did this; to avoid traffic on the Harlem River drive. The passengers were pissed off, I personally liked it. I give him props it was a fast detour.
  13. 3521 is at JFK from far Rockaway. I'm onit right now on the Q60
  14. Lack of interest on the student's part is also a huge factor. For example I go to a pretty decent high school in Manhattan and most of the kids in that school don't care about academia, they only care about getting a good grade.
  15. My favorite 1.Richard Nixon 2. President Bush Senior 3. James Buchanan 4. Ronald Reagen 5. George Bush junior 6. Calvin Coolidge (mainly because of the name) 7. Zachary Taylor 8.Rutherford B. Hayes 9. Martin Van Buren (again because of the name) 10 Benjamin Harrison
  16. Tomorrow, June 26th, I will walk from the northern-most tip of Manhattan to the southern-most tip. Along the way I will be doing some bus fanning. If anyone is interested in joining me comment on my status if you would like to attend.

i'll be busy tomorrow but it sounds fun. Enjoy.

  17. Just curious here: Why did the MTA decide to put all these timers that where mentioned above, and what purpose do they serve?
  18. I do also especially now that crowds on the M15 SBS are getting worse. But it should be brought back with severely reduced headways. Ex: 8 X90 trips a day starting at 6:30 a.m Runs: 1. 6:30 2. 6:55 3. 7:15 This run takes a lot of people that normally use the M15 SBS that starts at 89th and 2nd. 4. 7:35 5. 7:50 6. 7:55 7. 8:10 8. 8:25
  19. That is one nice looking bus! I remember those buses from my childhood. Did NYCT ever wrap their buses in full body ads (exclude the Select Bus)? Yep, I think only one OG from Quill has side ads; one of the 67xx hybrids that has no ads on the left side of the bus. Many NG's from Quill and Manhattanville sport the side ads including one of my personal favorites:
  20. I do you think you brought up an interesting point which is wrapping an entire bus with advertisements. If the MTA actually did go through with wrapping a whole bus with ads. it would not only be aesthetically pleasing to the riders, it could increase the likely-hood that a person actually pays attention to the advertisement because the ad itself is so eye-catching.
