Forgive me if I provide any information that turns out to be wrong, but for now they're not CBTC ready.
The on-board equipment has to be compatible with transponders that will possibly be provided by different contractors for each of the separate IND trunk lines planned to get CBTC.
Question: Saw LGA XD40 7448 working the Q70 SBS with the older Q70 Limited signage. When destination signs for a new SBS route are programmed, do they overwrite the Limited sign program or do they assign the SBS program a new code
Yeah but it's only eye candy at this point if barely even functional. Nevermind the fact that replacing tanks are expensive. There's also maintaining the (aging) L10G engine which the MTA hasn't maintained since the '97-'98 LIB Orion V CNGs and lord knows the last time that ex-Command RTS CNG ever started up.
This contrasts to the three Series 50G powered C40LFs that are still preserved for non-Museum fleet purposes with one (as most would know at this point) being used as a functional film prop and the other two for MTA K9 Training. This is thanks to the MTA still maintaining Series 50s in addition to the diesel and NG versions sharing a lot of common parts.
This is where the Orion VII CNG moves come in I suppose but they'll more likely be going to SC as faculty there are trained unless CP starts doing O7 training when they're nearing the end of their useful lives.
I can only speculate that it'll either be the Strategic screens on the FB XD40s or the CleverVision-esque screens on C40LF 572. Wasn't really a fan of the ones on the FB XD40s, especially because of it's aesthetics in relation to the interior as well as the overall quality of the screens compared to the rest of the pilots... but if that's what the MTA is going for then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Doubt it that this has happened unless a source says otherwise.
On a somewhat related note, a comment in one of his recent NICE Bus rant videos claims that the MTA can repossess the Orion VII NG/EPA10 CNGs (and maybe what's left of the ex-LIB Orion Vs) although not the New Flyers or the Arbocs. Is this possible?
JG originally had 7560-7659. The rest (7660-7819) went to West Farms.

The ones that were tested on C40LF 572 out of SC did ok with that from personal observations. My issue is how any of the screens will work with short turn trips as the ones on 572 would stop announcing and displaying stop info after reaching Brooklyn College despite being a Downtown trip. This also applies to detours as well as drivers on other TAs (e.g. NICE) that have their fleet fitted with AVLs could manually select stops on a console and resume regular course while the test screens we have don't seem to have one.
My guess is NF finally gave the Xcelsiors another revision regarding that awful interlocking. The ones on the the newer 2015 and later Xclesiors seemed to give them some drag in comparison to the ones on the 2011-13 Xclesiors and C40LFs
7619 is now trackable and currently in service on the B103
Also question: Since SC drivers are both certified to operate CNG vehicles and are trained to operate Orion VIIs, they're not required to have any additional training to operate the O7 CNGs, yes?
Complete opposite happened to me after an orthodontist appointment. Rode 7657 on the B100 but waited on a ridiculously long line after a packed C40LF left Kings Highway. Still got to sit for my trip tho ????What surprised me was that there were 2 more O7 CNGs on layover behind 7657 (one of which was 7624)
Likewise they had 3 C40LFs from the '99-'00 batch as training buses for the '11-'13 order...possibly saw service for 1 day before retiring or returning to JG.
Interesting thing to possibly look out for in the future especially during my commute to Brooklyn College. I wonder how they'll look with the typical 103 rush hour crowds lol.
I find it more sensible for O7 CNGs to run the remainder of their lives at SC rather than borrow from JFK while the New Flyers get their repaints.
Thats the design found only in all current NovaBus LFS since there's a considerably large amount of space between the axle and the driver. The SBS Xcelsiors dont have that.
As someone who frequents the B82 as an alternative to the B103 or B6 for commuting, how will the westbound Glenwood Rd reroute work given that its one-way until East 103rd St?
What would happen to the Squire Vickers/Heins & LaFarge station tiles and mosaics of the BMT and IRT if ESI ever reaches them? Would they be restored & preserved, recreated with a different material, or replaced entirely?
