  1. You know what. U have a valid point on this one. This was something I didn't really think about. Troy/Albany are pretty wide streets and it can work. St. John's place can work for the mere fact you have transfer points (direct) to crosstown Utica Avenue.
  2. I could see 1 or possibly 2 scenarios with the B15. Although this is very early in the conversation but it's gonna mean lost of stops along the route. The 15 already travels on very awkward streets. Part of the route is with 1 way streets. Scenario #1. The 15 traveling down Marcus Garvey to Fulton (from Woodhull). Left on Fulton, right on Ralph than regular via New Lots. Scenario #2 Down Marcus Garvey to Fulton. Left on Fulton, Right on Utica, Left on St. John's Place, Right on Ralph than regular.
  3. When was Spring Creek officially transferred over to the Queens Division? (2014 or 2015)
  4. I got a chance to briefly read the bus forward presentation and here is what I can gather: Personal observation: I really don't think the B15 should be an SBS candidate for the following reasons. The complex route that it travels between East New York and Bed-Stuy. The current route is a complete chokepoint and I mean this in true sincerely. Between New Lots Avenue, Ralph Avenue, Lewis Avenue and Woodhull are your main chokepoints. Just too much congestion to even think about creating an SBS route. A true BRT has to have a north-south route with very limited stops. Another area that the B15 travels is in Crown Heights- Dean Street b/w Albany and Rochester Aves. At times Dean street traffic is on a standstill b/c there are 4 schools that service that route and between the hours of 1:30pm and 6:00PM is where most of the congestion lies. Unless an streamline of the route changes lets not put any thought of having the B15SBS+
  5. Is there any room out in Staten Island for a possible 5th depot? From the looks of things the is clearly not in the business of building new depots right now. Only reason I'm pointing this b/c look how long it took to get Charleston (SI) and Grand Avenue (BK) live. From what I'm reading will the Academy contract with the city expire 6/30/18? Are both lines near Yukon, Castelton or Charleston?
  6. Minor correction that needs to be done in roster.. 5190 from Grand Avenue to East New York. Bus has ENY decals and it's been in depot since Wednesday.
  7. As of right now. No surplus on buses at Flatbush. However, they are due for new XD40's in May. So possibly hence the 7 buses possibly moving to LGA.
  8. Schwartz has an engineering firm in Downtown Manhattan-SoHo. Also, he was the transportation commissioner during the 80's. (1982-1986) and has a hands on approach on things including congestion pricing.
  9. Listen, We are stuck with her until 2020.. I would prefer Sam Schwartz to be commissioner. Sam makes a lot of sense to how the city streets should be controlled. However, yes we do need another Andy Byford to run the DOT..
  10. I could only guess those buses will go back on the Island later today. I don't foresee these buses staying in the Bronx for the interim future.
  11. Like almost never. Polly and her cronies NEVER make sense with these New York City streets. Thoroughfares that used to be 3 lanes of traffic have now gotten severely reduced and traffic woes will continue.
  12. On Utica Avenue.. The answer is NO.. Not even a delayed green light signal hasn't been installed on the avenue. I have to agree with ENY on this one. No need to extend the B46 to Riis Beach. Unless there are plans to have a shuttle bus between Kings Plaza and Riis Beach than the answer is no extension. I read somewhere that in the 70's or early 80's the B46 went to Riis during the summer months with a federal grant that was given to the and the route was cut.
  13. .... and you wonder why the Bronx Division is always taking buses from Brooklyn. Bronx Division maintenance has to be by far the worse. (Guess they took the title from Staten Island) To me Gun Hill is worse than Kingsbridge. I don't know for the artics at KB. However, the 43xx buses are well maintained at KB.
  14. Only guessing that 4968 was for AM pull out only to FB now back in ENY.
  15. 5190. Grand Avenue to East New York. Bus now has East New York decals. Spotted on B45.
  16. I didn't consider the distances between CP and WF. However up the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge straight to Zerega isn't a far trip at all. However, it's getting to West Farms is another story. If my sense of direction is correct I believe u can pick up I-95 to the Cross Bronx to Sheridan. Correct me if I'm wrong. Correct with Gleason and Spring Creek even though Spring Creek belongs in the Brooklyn Division on location and on paper.
  17. I'd be pissed too if I was a College Point OP refueling to the Bronx than deadhead back to Queens. I could only guess hence the borrowing of buses between the other depots within Queens Division.
  18. When I saw the space I immediately said to myself this would of been a perfect extension to store buses for Flatbush or even a depot extension. Something tells me that they are going to built some expensive property in that area. Yeh, that Q35 is definitely no good. Before you know dollar vans will be running thru that area. However, little that people know that Highway Patrol 2 is in that area. After all the news reports this week about NYCHA. Shola Olatoye, who makes $226,042 a year needs to be OUT as chairperson // Commissioner of NYCHA. NYCHA has no business of instituting $2K rents in Manhattan and Brooklyn while apartments are in deplorable conditions, feces, vermon, bugs, bedbugs and I could go down the line. All these city council hearings about NYCHA and she hasn't been brought on charges yet is beyond me. However, I would never live in New York City Housing...
  19. Negative.... I believe they have until after Memorial Day to close down. Store is still fully stocked. Employees are paid until 6/1/18.
  20. Interestingly, I drove by Toys R us on Flatbush Ave last night to find in my amazement I wonder what they are going to do with that building. Also, I notice there is construction and a new dealership is about to open in that area. Just kinda wished that the would pay a bit more attention to good commercial property
  21. In this case. I could kinda see this working. However, the borough prefixes do work slightly better. It's all about re-arraignment of ALL routes and not leaving any blocks. Stop using A, B, C, D combinations. Especially in Manhattan, and Queens.
