  1. .... I guess we all could wish that. Gun Hill breeds a different crop when it comes to maintenance of it's buses.
  2. Spring Creek isn't playing with installation of USB ports and Wi-fi of the 5xx series buses.
  3. A taste of SEPTA bus advertisement found with NYCT & BUS. Spotted this last week during the rollout of the current Vision Zero ads. Quite a few buses in the Brooklyn Division have the double ad: East New York, Flatbush and Ulmer Park. Haven't seen any with Grand Ave and Fresh Pond.
  4. Another Ulmer Park bus bites the dusk........ This is the 4th bus within 1 year. 5102, 5111, 5121 suffered similar fates.
  5. Damm.. Just saw that bus on Monday working the B41. Nice catch tho...
  6. I believe before the doomsday cuts the 48 picked up plenty of steam north of Broadway. However, once those cuts began it was all written. Now, present day with all routes being controlled by Grand Avenue including the 48 the frequencies completely suck. I believe when the route was under Fresh Pond and Gleason controlled the frequencies were a bit better. Should the route be split. Yes. via Union Avenue = NO Pleasing the Greenpoint, Northside and Southside Williamsburg crowd is a tough one and will be even tougher once the is shutdown.
  7. Yes. You have a good point. For years Greenpoint is mostly dependent on the B43 and is also car centric. Even to the effect there's no crosstown service on McGuiness. The only way I see logically for the B48 to be remove from Lormier to Union is that you have to attract a good market that's willing to sit on a bus from Union Avenue. Took a early morning trip into Queens via Union Avenue shuttle was operating and I pretty much said to myself that if a route operated via Union, McCarren Park, Greenpoint Waterfront or even Long Island City-Astoria waterfront it can attract a decent market. PS: I want to see what effect the 48 does when the train shuts down. I'm interested.
  8. As far as Union Avenue service is concerned I personally don't think there is a market for that segment. However, with a new route and enough convincing to move over to Union Ave than i can POSSIBLY see a market for this. To me the current 48 is long enough for its own good as it is from Flatbush to Greenpoint. Also, with this split it can service the waterfront area by Vernon Boulevard & Borden Avenue train station. A possible split would look like this Route : B48 Empire/Flatbush to Flushing Avenue or Lormier Street Route . Union Avenue to Vernon Boulevard- 44th Drive station via Union, Greenpoint. New route: B58.
  9. Sure about that? No active construction on the SBS Machines along the route unless I'm totally wrong. Will that 7/6/18 deadline go thru? Also, there's no construction on Penn Avenue in regards to bus lanes and Canarsie is a total mess right now with the East 108th Street construction.
  10. Would 7616 & 7617 head to Flatbush since they are ready and wrapped for SBS service? Will the allotments change for Bush and East New York change as a result of the SBS82 being postponed? Noticed that 9503 is still at the facility and hasn't been delivered over to Grand Avenue. I'm only guessing that GA is making room thus getting rid of some 40xx buses and presumably some RTS to make room for the XDE's? Correct?
  11. Leave everything alone with regards to the B24 and the B32. The last thing you need in the Brooklyn Division is a swap of terminals. That doesn't solve anything especially for the folks of Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Lower East Side. As for the B39. It's a shuttle ONLY and it is intended to be a supplement for service and not intended to veer off route. However, with the train shutdown coming in the near future there needs to be some sort of functionality with the B39 serving the folks of the train. A possible way to attract some customers in the outlining areas of Bushwick and Williamsburg or even a creation of a new route starting from Morgan Avenue to LES via Metro.
  12. How many are at the facility?. Last I checked it was 4. However, they are still prolly be worked on for acceptance and service. Also 7616 is also there. Right there are so many changes. The key word is patience. The LFSA order first 1/2 is being wrapped up with the rest of the buses heading to Quill than the 2nd part- 5531-5602 should commence. Plus, you have the XD40's for local and SBS service for Brooklyn Division to begin next.
  13. That is correct. I believe some of the other 59xx buses that are at Kingsbridge have Wi-fi along with the Gun Hill batch from Manhattan.
  14. Any more movements from the mainland to Staten Island to your knowledge? Just noticed that Grand Avenue send some buses back to Yukon.
  15. 7344- Flatbush also sporting the double rear ad of Vision Zero. Spotted on the B46 SBS today. Would be good to see one on a LFS since the dimensions of the billboard fit perfectly.
  16. Guessing the Grand Avenue buses are making their way back home to Yukon..
  17. 6046 from LGA also has the same vision zero ad.. Spotted on the Q53 SBS last night.
  18. Random sighting: I see that the B12 is using the short turn at KCH // New York Avenue. Is that short turn only for PM rush hours only. Saw the bus on layover yesterday.
  19. Yes, during rush hour. Of course, I was driving thru Remsen Avenue and it caught me by surprise.
  20. I think it's more than that. I believe they are making room for the 76xx buses that are due later this month. Usually when Flatbush swaps they get buses in return. However, this is not the case here. Before you know it all their 42xx buses will be gone from the mainland to SI.
  21. Random sighting: 0017 on the B47 on Tuesday. Spotted it on Ralph Avenue. Grand Avenue is really putting these buses to good use. Something tells me these proterra buses will be a hit in NYC streets in the future.
  22. Good point. However, there are some buses in Queens. Newer XD60's from bus are starting to have rear ads. However on the NYCT front for XD40's and XD60's . Those buses are empty. Ad free. The ads on the information screens would only be for . I feel that the exterior ads aren't really a thing of the past only because Manhattan division is a big market and most advertisers like to market in Manhattan, plus express buses that travel to Manhattan.
