  1. Everyone who passed the test will be put on the list and receive a list number, I think the chief (newspaper) will only publish the top 2000 scorers. Like Egyptian eyes said they will call from and exhaust the promotional list before they get to us O/C people. How long will that take? Nobody knows, it took them about 3 years to get to the last one. (view the 8094 thread) Nobody knows how long the list will be open they're supposed to be open for four years, but it can get extended and nobody can see into the future. (obviously) With 6 wrong you should have an idea of what to expect anyway. Just take any other exams you qualify for in the meantime and keep it moving, The false narratives and speculation won't change the reality. I don't mean that in a condescending way nor am I trying to be rude I'm just saying you have to be realistic with your score. I suggest reading the 8094 thread along with the "Those who passed Conductor Exam 8094 thread," there's alot of good info in their and alot of your questions will be answered. They're both stickied.
  2. My main concern is the traveling and getting to work on time potentially. As of right now I live within 10-20 mins from any of the three A division terminals in BK, but traveling to the BX if I were to get hired and assigned to the A div would be crazy. Oh well, cross that bridge when I get there, right? Haha. I'm anxious to get my list #. I have a little ways to go in earning my Associates degree so that'll put my mind off of it, and by the time I'm finished with school hopefully they'll be midway through the promotion to conductor exam. I think things are going to get crazy with hiring in these next few years, like you said alot of people are moving up or retiring and like you said they're adding service. The timing of 6601 seems much better than 8094, looks like we'll just have to wait and see how things play out. It's also funny that you brought up waving haha, one time I was on the platform and my train was pulling in and this lady had her toddler was waving at the this female Operator (literally one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, let alone working for the MTA LoL.) Thanks for your insight and reassurance, I appreciate it and look forward to being a coworker of yours in the near future.
  3. A couple of questions. I looked at the train schedules and noticed something. There's ten trains that are scheduled to terminate at Crown Heights-Utica avenue, why not just send those trains express to New Lots and go to the yard instead of clogging up the relay at Utica? You'd be giving the riders traveling east of Utica a service boost too. The isn't as frequent as the other IRT lines in bk and there's a yard behind the station that could help with potential congestion. Is because you can get trains back onto Lexington faster if they end at Utica as opposed to NLTS? Also, why do the and trains end their Brooklyn service earlier than the ? It looks like they all have similar ridership numbers in BK, is there a specific reason why they end earlier?
  4. Subwayfan, SubwayGuy, and Niku did have a point though. Looking on the outside from a non-biased realistic standpoint it does seem a bit misleading to suggest that they'd hire up to/over 2000 people within the first two years. It did seem like he was trying to soften the blow to make himself feel better for his score, and that's totally understandable. However, like it was mentioned earlier in this thread a score less than a 94/5 isn't anything to be excited about on an exam as competitive as this one, he just has to be realistic that's all. Like subwayfan said it's the list number that we should be worried about and then from there. Anyways, at this point it's like we're beating a dead horse. Hopefully if I get called in with 1 wrong and a bunch of conductors (including you ) move up to Train Operator within these next few years I can have some seniority and be able to pick a decent job preferably on the so I can work on those new trains. I browsed this site and viewed the employee threads and it seems like being extra extra is brutal lol. Oh yeah, any word on the status on the promotion to conductor and train operator exams? I know the current exams have to expire first, but have employees received their scores and list numbers yet?
  5. I think the entire IRT has frequent enough service to the point where if you miss a train it's no big deal.
  6. They should revert it back system wide, not just the terminals. 6 minutes away at the terminal? Haha man that's crazy, a damn shame. I participate in fb groups and the general consensus with the C to Lefferts thing is the riders don't want a local service. If they don't want it I wouldn't force them to have it. As someone who's stuck with a local that travels a farther distance than the express I can see where they're coming from.
  7. Speaking of countdown clocks I wish they'd go back to "the next Manhattan bound express __ train to __ will arrive in __ minutes" The new "There is __ train to __ minutes away" can be confusing at times. I remember when they first started the new announcements and I rushed to swipe my pass and bolted up the stairs like a fool thinking the train was arriving. The new system is starting to get familiar, but I prefer the old one. Anyone know why they changed it?
  8. No trains between Utica/New Lots this weekend. Does it have to do with the station closures? If so it seems like they're serious about getting them opened on time.
  9. If the requirements for the last Conductor exam became more stringent than previous exams (oral proficiency) what would make you believe that they would bend to a candidates request to change the requirements for an exam that has more responsibility than the conductor because said candidate isn't qualified when they have thousands of other applicants that meet the qualifications currently? You shouldn't give out false information/hope. It's not the end of the world if he can't take the new T/O exam, there's plenty of other opportunities to get his foot in the door. That's why it's important not the put all of your eggs in one basket, heck I only got 1 wrong on the proposed answer key for the conductor exam and I'm still going to take other civil service exams because nothing's guaranteed in this life except death.
  10. If I get called for conductor in a few years from the MTA I'll get to work on these trains. Sweet lol.
  11. Does anybody know why the express section on the IRT Eastern Parkway Line has so many timers going northbound, but they're virtually nonexistent going s/b? Northbound seems like it's so delay prone, especially during rush hours because of the restricted speed while s/b it's about 3-4 minutes from Barclays to Franklin avenue.
  12. Deja vu lol. That was the same/only question I got wrong on the exam. The timetable made it seem like the arrivals were a minute apart, I was confused with that question. Oh well, like you said I'm happy with my score. I doubt it'll set us back for a "long" time probably mere months if anything, but I too am going to finish up my degree until they call us. Congrats to you too, what day did you take your exam?
  13. Going by the last NOE 5 years of work experience or 120 college credits and 1 year of work experience. Things can change though, they could tweak the requirements like they did with the last Conductor exam. Check the NOE when the filing period arrives.
  14. I doubt they'll be reaching the numbers that you guys are projecting, like NanaMac said earlier what happened with 8094 isn't the norm.
  15. I second what Nana said. If you meet the requirements file for the Train Operator exam or any MTA exam you qualify for.
  16. I remember that one. I went in with the logic that if he has a accent and is lost he probably wouldn't even know how to read a subway map, I actually had something similar happen to me. A man with a heavy accent came to me for help. We were at Nevins Street on the n/b platform and he wanted to get to Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum. The question with the which trains run local in Brooklyn late nights was simple too, the answer was essentially in the booklet.
  17. Man I hope they'll throw out the question I got wrong too I'll do the moonwalk if I get a perfect score lol, and it takes up to a year to receive your score. It may be quicker since the MTA themselves are handling the list instead of DCAS. I hope they start calling from the promotional exam ASAP.
  18. The above posters answered the first part, for the second part the 4 uses mostly R142's with a few r142a's.
  19. Nah, there's people who'll claim disabled veteran, legacy, etc... Shouldn't be too much though no need to worry.
  20. I know that there's a huge difference in the amount of people that took those exams the point I was trying to get across was that it's possible to have up to 4 wrong and score within the top 2000 range, that's all. I just don't like to see people freaking out over nothing. I get that you're not trying to be harsh and I'm not trying to start a fight with you. I was happy as hell when I saw that I only got one wrong. Goodluck to everyone and file for the Train Operator exam. (if you qualify) @ Bmpo7: No, there wasn't any residency credits unfortunately.
  21. For the DSNY one take note that an incredible amount of people took this exam and the reason why you see the extra high scores like 105 is because of the residency credit. 5 extra points were added. There were people who had a question or two wrong that scored within the top 2000. http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcas/downloads/pdf/misc/sanitation_worker_exam_5001_results_sept_2015.pdf And here's the link for the Conductor, people with 4 wrong were in the top 2000. http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/13097-conductor-exam-8094/page-1 If a moderator instructs us to do so I will, otherwise there's nothing wrong with giving comparisons to give an idea.
  22. There's people with two or three wrong that are in the top 2000 scorers on the last DSNY exam. There's people with 4 wrong that were in the top 2000 scorers on the last Conductor exam. You're being overly pessimistic.
  23. Look at the 8094 thread to get somewhat of an idea. I think about 14k people either took or passed that test. How many questions did you get wrong on 6601?
  24. Those questions along with the ones regarding the schedule were the ones that stumbled me the most, everything else was pretty straight forward IMO. Fortunately I had about an hour and a half to check my answers and I noticed the different numbers and caught my mistakes. I'm positive the only question I had wrong was the one with the scheduled time arrival. That one seemed to have multiple answers. No biggie... Don't beat yourself up over that, a 96 is a decent score for a transit exam. It'll probably take them longer, but you should receive a call. There's a new Train Operator exam coming out later this year, there's your plan B.
