  1. It's nothing to fret about. I got the same score and I'm in the (low) 4xx range aswell. When they start calling it shouldn't take that long to get to us anyway. Those of us who've already taken the OPA don't even need to worry about our list #'s, I'm more anxious to find out how we did on that.
  2. Wow nice! You should be in one of the first classes when they start calling congrats on your score.
  3. Just got my list # in the mail too says nothing about the OPA. Going to email them tomorrow to see if i can find out.
  4. Well someone in the 3-4k range should expect to wait a while anyway lol it takes years to get to those scores. My comments were morseo aimed at some of the other posters who came up with some crazy theories. The woman could've been telling you the truth or she could've just been saying anything to get you off the phone who knows, but it seems crazy to say they won't be hiring for years like some others suggested. I have no hard feelings towards you. I was told spring. Like @LIRRMedford was just have to remain patient. Even if offered the job tomorrow i couldn't accept it because i want to finish up my degree by July or August, so I'm kind of hoping they do start calling in spring lol. I'm in the low 400's. It's crazy how the S/A exam was given a year prior to ours and we have our official scores before them.
  5. Did I state that the notice of results means you will be hired away, or did i point out the fact that it's nonsensical to insinuate they won't hire for years because of a lack of vacancies when they're losing conductors as we speak from the promotional exam along with people retiring, getting fired, quitting, demoted, etc... They have to schedule classes and they have to be approved it doesn't happen overnight... You can continue taking jabs and speculating though whatever floats your boat... @Schecter i wouldn't be surprised lol. Who would've even thought we would've taken the OPA last year? Anytime someone emailed them for an update they kept giving that 18-24 month timeline and then bam out of nowhere we got letters to take the OPA. Btw everyone, the scores are posted on DCAS. Not that it really matters since you already have it, but it's in their system and you can csll to find out your list #
  6. You're right it doesn't make sense to say they won't be hiring for years. Some people need to think before they post. The last time i emailed them they told me the notice of results will be going out in spring. People retire, quit, get demoted, fired, etc... Right now they're calling promotionals for T/O and alot of conductors are on that list so obviously there will be vacancies. And no they're not calling from 8094 anymore that exam expired last week. We just have to continue being patient, the nonsensical speculation isn't helping.
  7. I'm being as honest as possible you shouldn't count on it. Historically they usually called the first 3k people before a new list replaced the old one. What happened with 8094 was an anomaly and with that it still took them about 8 years to get to people in that range after multiple extensions. I'm not saying that it absolutely cannot happen, but if i were you I'd take the next exam when it's offered.
  8. They use your social security number. I forgot which digit they use as the tie breaker, but they go by that. Sidenote, they weren't lying when they said they had a high number of applicants. Some of those scores are crazy.
  9. Wow thanks for the link @Moody! I'm in the low 400's not bad! More anxious to find out how i did on the OPA though, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. So happy that 8094 finally expired.
  10. Definitely! Some tough calls will have to be made soon if we really expect to make any improvements and with that people won't be happy. The needs of many outweigh the needs of the few It also seems like another poster still isn't getting the point that is being made. I don't know how to make it any simpler, but whatever. Moving on...
  11. I think it's obvious that people will object the to Lefferts proposal and nobody's forcing you to agree with anything, but as RR503 pointed out your previous stance of it being "pointless" is false. Also, I'm aware of why the IRT thing wouldn't work from a technical standpoint. I was just reiterating Trainmasters point of customer preference. I'm sure most of us can agree that the average rider has the general consensus that express = faster. If given a choice IRT riders east of Utica would prefer a one seat express ride which is basically what you're arguing for in regards to the A/C swap. Again, my question is when do we draw the line between satisfying customer preference and balancing out the needs of service for everyone?
  12. I agree. I felt like the first part was a breeze, i remembered everything clearly until i got to the last 3-4 questions, but overall i think i did well on it. The second part I'm just worried about how they're grading us. Whether it's how we phrased our answers or is it just the clarity and if we had the "right" answer. Anways, exam 8094 finally expires tomorrow! Hopefully it won't take them too long to provide us with some updated information on 6601 soon after. As far as a backup plan i actually got called to start the process for the NYPD earlier this year, but i had to put that on hold because i want to finish up my degree & I'm waiting to see my stance with the MTA. Tbh i really want to be a Train operator, that's my dream job so I'm just hoping I aced my OPA. My goal was to start off as a conductor and then eventually take the next promo exam and move up front. If it unfortunately doesn't work out like i said i have my letter from the NYPD or i could always try Amtrak or some other avenue, but I'm really hoping i did well on this and honestly i feel like i did.
  13. I don't think the to Lefferts suggestion is "pointless" as you put it since there are some indeed benefits, but the question is whether or not the benefits outweigh the costs. Also, Trainmaster5 made a great point about preference. Since you've mentioned the & lines I remember reading somewhere on this forum that Brighton riders were in arms about the running local while the ran express because the local riders wanted service to Broadway. In regards to the IRT I'm willing to bet that the majority of riders east of Utica avenue would prefer if the ran to/from New Lots avenue 24/7 and express after Utica if they had the choice. Stand on the northbound platform at Utica avenue during the AM rush and watch how crowded the platform gets from the emptying out from people transferring to the My question is where do we draw the line between customer preference and balancing out the needs of service?
  14. Just to clear things up the OPA isn't a provisional job offer it's just an assessment. You must pass that to move onto the drug test and eventually medical exam. I took my OPA for 6601 back in October of last year and haven't heard anything since. To the person who said the T/O list may be published this summer I'd take that rumor with a huge grain of salt. They haven't even published C/R exam 6601 yet and that was given a year prior to this T/O exam.
  15. I didn't find the first part hard at all nor did i find it to be unfair either. Not even trying to brag, but it was actually easier than i expected. I went in the mindset of "if it sounds important it probably is". Remember, just like the actual written exam we took in 2016 it's all about the attention to detail. I also don't see what personal achievements have to do with anything either. While I'm currently close to getting my Associates degree i scored 79/80 on the written exam there's probably a number of people who scored 80/80 on just a high school diploma alone. Plenty of employees on this site mentioned that just because you went to college doesn't mean you'll make it through schoolcar. No offense just my honest opinion but it seems like some of you are just making excuses as to why you didn't do as well as you wished you did. I mean a lawsuit, really? @LIRRMedford i feel the same way as you in regards to part two. I'm not overly confident, but i do remember when i gave one of my answers in a scenario the woman "interviewing" us nodded her head in agreement like i was corrsct, and I answered the questions in the same format throughout. Just hang in there and have faith, I'm sure we did fine. Switching subjects, 8094 should finally expire one week from today. The exams unit says notice of results are tentatively scheduled to go out in spring.
  16. More than likely they aren't going to give you a precise answer. I took mine back in October and still haven't heard anything so even after you take it you will still have some waiting to do. Just be patient. @Sank is completely right everyone needs to be patient. Bumping the thread to ask the same questions over and over along with the speculation and rumors isn't helping anybody. The old list is scheduled to expire exactly 3 weeks from now, we've waited this far and won't kill us to wait a little more for some information.
  17. There is no "favoritism". It's called "needs of service" When the R160's were coming in the A had those power issues in the Rockaways that prevented the trains from running over that stretch. With the R179's, the needs of service have changed regarding the C line. At the time the order was placed there was no intentions of lengthening the C from 480-600 feet. With the upcoming L shutdown that has sinfe changed. You can check this out on the A/C study they did about a year or two "Upon delivery of R179 cars, currently on order, replace the entire C fleet and a small portion of the A fleet with the new cars" https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/pdf/AC_LineReview.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiFpNKoztvYAhXCTN8KHbDnA-kQFjAAegQIFRAB&usg=AOvVaw2tXDI3vfrKpEplJUoIsOfK
  18. The 5 is running to/from Wakefield-Flatbush while the 2 is running to/from Dyre-SF. People living on the Dyre branch would've had to transfer regardless if they wanted access to Brooklyn on weekends. Also, the amount of people traveling to/from Brooklyn to the Bronx via subway is more than likely miniscule compared to the amount of people who need acess to Manhattan. The needs of the many > the needs of the few. The work must be done.
  19. I've seen pics. From my understanding the 7 doesn't use ATS like the rest of the mainline IRT and the 42 street shuttle so that isn't much of a surprise IMO.
  20. Wow come to think of it today does make two months since i took my OPA aswell. It's crazy how time flies it felt like it was last week i took it. At this point I'm more interested in seeing how we did on the OPA moreso than our list numbers. Hopefully it doesnt take too long since the opd exam should finally expire in Feburary.
  21. Hopefully all the R143's get that 'Cuomo' refurbishment that the R160's are getting they're definitely showing their age. The interiors are dimmer and more beat up than the slightly older R142/a's.
  22. Indeed. I'm moreso looking forward to riding them on the Can't wait to ride a NTT up CPW express, especially when the train does that dip at around 103-110th street N/b.
  23. I'm a bit confused on what you're asking for. How would the conductor know that they're going to run into congestion beforehand if there isn't a major issue like a sick passenger ahead and they weren't instructed to hold the train in the station? How big of a delay ia caused by this? If time is of the essense maybe those people should leave their houses earlier. It happens to me almost daily riding the Eastern Parkway Line approaching rogers junction. It causes no morw than a 5 minute dwlay i don't see why i should get mad at the conductor nor the train operator. It's mindboggling how that poster thinks it's ok to come to people's jobs and scream at them because of their own ignorance, immaturity, impatience amongst other things...
  24. You may want to take a look at the schedules again. The B doesn't have the "best" frequencies on CPW
  25. Oh absolutely. Again, I'm not trying to single him out because he isn't the only one doing it and I'm sure he won't be the last. However the post that I was referring to did say that the letters are going out in batches according to the supervisor and there's a little over two thousand expected to recieve one. Remember there's only about 30 people who take the OPA per session, so it's quite possible that he just isn't in the batch who received a letter so far. Like you said he just has to remain patient like the rest of us did. If anything he can email the exams unit with his concerns.
