  1. KB's batch is in much better shape than GH's, I just hope someone either on a #AskNYCT or Board Meeting can reach the message over to Byford to make him aware about it and even visiting the depot.
  2. To be honest here, those 4700's need some good time up in the lifts and get some Corona Yard style cleaning, down to the screws of the bus. Gun Hill's Buses are so f*cking disgusting. If it weren't for school I would have called Gun Hill Depot out to Byford's attention on the #AskNYCT Chat.
  3. MTA is upgrading Subway Cars with white LED Lighting, at the moment a few R62A's, R68's, R68A's, R142's, and R160's got them. Shouldn't be too long until the R62's, R142A's and R143's get them.
  4. I used to ride the Bx6 Local before +SBS+ and my trip took longer, and talk to me about the line you have to make to pay at the Farebox, it was pitiful. I no longer even use the Bx6 Local and avoid it as much as I possibly can now. I get to the Bus Stop, pay at the machine, and board through any door. It is beneficial because not only do you get on the bus quicker, you may also find a seat quicker and help distribute passenger loading much more equally. I would take the Bx6 Local at 163 - 3 Av after transferring from the Bx21 and my trip was around 1 hour and 5 minutes, now with +SBS+ it is down to 45 minutes. 20 minute reduction on my trip and works on my favor, I get to work earlier which I can be able to go to McDonalds or Dunkin' Donuts and buy some coffee and something to eat before walking into work. Everyone has a different POV and +SBS+ has either negative or positive effects depending on the person and the type of neighborhood. I would not say that a route sucks without even riding it or living in the area to understand pros and cons and the quality of life with changes in that magnitude.
  5. 103 is a West Farms unit. It is good to see they updated and got the GPS on 102 online today.
  6. I will be honest here... +SBS+ was a plan sought to bring faster bus service to struggling routes, not everyone may perceive the brand as it was stated. Yes +SBS+ has been a Success Bx41, Webster Av, and also a Failure B44, Nostrand Av, but at the end of the day it may benefit someone or the neighborhood in some way, or not. Yes the MTA and DOT may fail to realize the long term effects and changes some of those plans may cause. I am not disagreeing with anybody, nor do I support any side of the argument. +Select Bus Service does of course need improvement, it does need to be revised, and yes better attention to CB's and Neighborhoods should be taken into account. Some of the routes are necessary, some aren't. Fighting over biased comments won't solve this issue. Do not take this personal as I am referring to the issue Generally and even in real life this happens. People's orientation over Transportation doesn't always describe your POV or thought process, many of us have different commutes, and different types of travel. In my opinion the Bx6 +SBS+ is very beneficial for me and I find it very useful for my daily commute. I often use the route and get to places on time, my commute on the Bx6 +SBS+ is 30% faster, offboard payment, all door boarding, Bus Lanes, fewer stops, and TSP at some intersections. Many of our POV's when riding the service may be different, for me I might find it useful, someone else may not and it is perfectly fine, I understand. Everyone has a different experience and perception of things.
  7. 102 and 103 had the GPS Trackers off running as ghost buses, probably did it until they get renumbered to prevent confusion.
  8. The community has capped OF to 140 Buses, as long as MTA is not adding more buses and just swapping the old LFSA's out, I wouldn't see a problem with that.
  9. Unfortunately Articulated Hybrid Buses aren't qualified for a Mass Order YET, the Older LFSA's would be forced to go elsewhere, and the 2016-2018 NovaBus LFSA SmartBus has a much more efficient and cleaner diesel engine than its older counterparts. But I would see in 5-10 years MCH having XDE60's assigned.
  10. Not like to ever change. It has to do with costs, and maintanance. A depot with 10 different types of buses would spend more money than a depot with 1 or 2 types of buses.
  11. Eastchester is an MTA Bus depot, and MTA Bus is New Flyer by default, and depots with alternative fuel buses like West Farms, and any depot with Hybrid or Electric Buses will be New Flyer, as NovaBus isn't qualified for alternative fuel buses. With the Electric buses now seeing Proterra now and BYD soon joining the game, it will also be possible to see each borough with diverse fleets.
  12. Staten Island isn't as dense as the other 4 boroughs in terms of the riding public, so it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
  13. Staten Island will be Nova territory only. MTA wants to Standardize the fleet for Maintanance reasons and to have a stable location for parts. Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island: NovaBus *Stengel is NewFlyer Brooklyn & MTA Bus: New Flyer *MTA Bus is New Flyer by default.
  14. Well its starting to get like that now with Orion out of Business. And plus at the end of the day its a bus only taking you from Point A to B It was an error at the facility, give it a while and they'll fix it. C40LF 266 from West Farms was repainted with MTA Bus decals and thats always been an NYCT Unit.
  15. The S79 +SBS+ does not warrant Off Board payment because the ridership isn't as high and demanding like in the 4 boroughs. Also Staten Island has the best and YOUNGEST average bus age in the entire system, with buses ranging 2-9 years of age while anywhere else we have buses past 20 years of age, so basically Staten Island's buses are in a very decent age group.
  16. It will simply be 'MTA' and if anyone notices the new scheme reflects that
  17. I am checking Bus Time right now and artics are being pulled out city wide, obviously MJQ has artics still running during bad weather most of the time. I hope they keep them inside today. A few routes tho at this time are swapping buses from 60 Ft to 40Ft to prepare for the icy mix.
  18. Trust me, those people you see that ignore their tap water bottles know where that comes from 😂 I once saw a Bus Operator on the Bx35 at the red light on Amsterdam Av, W 181 St buying a bag of oranges from some mexican. Looks like the break couldn't be any sooner.
  19. He's not lying either so he has a point and a right to say that. Plus its not like he is the only potty mouth working for the MTA. Because of that T/O, another crew that was supposed to be done for the day had to pull 6415 to not further delay service.
  20. I was at 96th St earlier and the Supervisor was heating up, The T/O 315 never showed up to take 6415 (Lead Car) to relay and switch back. He was at the other side of the platform and never answered the radio.. The supervisor then had T/O 313 take over to cover up and T/O 315 came half an hour later and had to be put into another train. The supervisor was very angry and was talking to another T/O saying "Some of these trains operators seriously are a disaster, like they know where to show up because the relay guy will take to train on the north end, but if he doesn't show up, who the f*ck is gonna pull in the train from the south end. Theres no ding or buzzing, this ain't a frickin full time terminal, thats what the f*cking holding lights are for... They cause the problems, this is why you see the Daily News reporting all the shit going on at the MTA, because even the people who work here just come in for the cash and benefits, and just stick around with a bad attitude not knowing what the f*ck they doin'." This was at 96 Street, around 5:17pm
  21. R142 Car 6362 has LED Lighting, I saw iy this morning, but MTA is very inconsistant with the installation of the lights, rather installing it on random cars, rather than set by set.
  22. Yes because the TTC's NovaBus LFSA's have ALL WEATHER TIRES, and they do fine on snow storms, but it's also NYC's Geography being very hilly and hostile during bad weather preventing Artic Buses from combating the manipulative conditions.
  23. It would help if the were more transparent to its customers and specify the reasons of why accessibiliy/additional entrance projects get delayed, and or may not happen, e.g. 'The ADA Accessibility/additional staircase(s) at _____________ Station is being delayed/may be postponed/not occur for _________________ reasons, we will still keep this location in further study to find othet solutions to mitigate such issue.' Instead of dodging questions or making budgetary excuses as they are known to make. Most Elevated lines can get elevators and theres' no excuse to say that they have no control of streets, thats stupid for them to say, they could coordinate with the DOT and make Curb extensions if Feasible and Necessary to facilitate the Installation of an Elevator at those stations, while on other elevated stations it obviously be impossible due to the fact that theres buildings adjacent on both sides and a narrow street below and narrow sidewalk.
  24. Chambers St cannot qualify for ESI because the issue at Chambers St goes way beyond the scope of ESI, and would need a down to the foundation reconstruction and would also last way more than 6 months under reconstruction.
