  1. In all honesty, I get the impression that Fulton Street is barely able to handle the routes it has, all of which are either already on Fulton Street or quick to join from a northern alignment (the routes on Livingston Street come from southern alignments). Bear in mind that the section of Fulton Street in question is literally just a pair of traffic lanes and sidewalks, unlike 14th Street.
  2. We should probably address the stretch between Queens Village and Floral Park beforehand.
  3. At this point, I don't think I'd even want to wipe my ass with it. (I'm talking about that rag, not the shop.)
  4. I was going to have a long post about skip-stop service, but all I will say is that I have a hard time imagining the MTA will try to maintain it for too much longer. Hell, the fact that all trains stop at Alabama Avenue -- one of the weakest stations -- is, to me, a sign that skip-stop subway service in NYC is not long for this world. Anyway, I think that's enough about that. I'd argue we're beginning to derail the thread.
  5. That's a half-measure that'll only piss everyone off.
  6. It's that, finally canning 145th Street, or finally extending the platforms to handle 10 cars.
  7. Aside from the Transit Museum, the only place I can think of is Grand Central. Beyond that, well, you could check out Penn Station and the bus terminals in Midtown and Washington Heights. My best recommendation is to ride whatever you can afford. Just remember that OMNY has yet to be available on the railroads. Also remember that Manhattan-oriented express buses (both MTA-operated and especially the lone Bee-Line route) require steeper/separate fares, as well as the complete lack of integration with NJT (I pin the blame for this on NJT, which has its own barely-functional fare structures). Don't expect much of any integration with NY counties that don't border NYC, either.
  8. Well, shit. I'm just glad it didn't get pulled. I can't help but think someone was "experimenting" with that pen. I realize I'm saying that without a shred of evidence to back it up, but it's a natural conclusion.
  9. Because it's still possible for breakthrough infections to occur? Because there are many other airborne viruses and bacteria that can make people sick? Because there are other airborne particles that can cause problems (pollen being a big one)?
  10. I'd expect nothing better from someone like Eric Adams. Would it be safe to assume he has some personal stake?
  11. That's an interesting claim. What's it based on?
  12. There was, but it's been a glorified short-turn of a different route for more than 5 years at this point. The route that served the alignment was the N72.
  13. Like the Florida judge striking the CDC mandate down?
  14. Also, let's assume Utica Avenue regains the station it lost more than a century ago. What would that be called? East Crown Heights? That would be an awkward name, particularly when factoring in the subway station to the south.
  15. Let's not forget that this is the same person who complained about people piling onto Westchester's buses while the Bx30 basically carries air. Let's also not forget that this is the same person who claimed that B35 ridership on 39th Street is higher than B35 ridership on Church Avenue.
  16. I don't know which universe you're in, but if you could return to this one, that would be great.
  17. The first thing that sticks out in my mind is the stubbing of the Boston Road routes. If this is an attempt to force people to use the Bx30,, it'll only serve to piss people off and likely push more people off the bus, if not public transit entirely. What makes this proposal particularly infuriating is that many people -- myself included -- correctly identified the old Bx7's southwestern terminus as a stub. Hell, even the MTA implicitly (if not explicitly) realized this when combining it with the old Bx6, only to foolishly go right back to it in June. To do this just to spite Bronxites not only hurts them, but also those in Westchester currently using those routes to reach Fordham. This is made even worse because the official draft calls for stubbing the 62 in New Rochelle, but it at least tries to build on the 60 and especially the 61.
  18. It would be far easier to run reliable transportation with actual investment in it. Don't say anything about the Feds, as that only emphasizes how shit we've been at investing.
  19. I'll be charitable and say this is a naïve statement.
  20. As far as I'm concerned, the B41 has had a history of being inadequate for Flatbush Avenue simply for the inherent limitations of a bus route with respect to addressing demand, but there have been no concrete plans to solve this problem. Instead, it's only been exacerbated over the years with no end in sight. It's a damn shame, as I really don't think COVID put nearly as much of a dent in demand for transit service on the corridor as some might claim. The M100 actually ends at St. Nicholas Avenue, though that's still not saying too much.
  21. The fact that you brought the , , and everything from Jamaica/on Queens Boulevard into this while conspicuously leaving the out is revealing.
