  1. With getting CBTC, will they be able/willing to extend it to Queens Plaza, Forest Hills or 179th? Especially when the is not present along QB? Also, have they contemplated more frequent OPTO service to enable Express service with Bergen lower re-opened? Has, CBTC helped with the Continental Conga line?
  2. This, I may not see an issue with. While a lot of housing is going up in downtown Brooklyn, the draw is probably the convenience to all the subway lines and local amenities. How much has bus ridership increased within the Downtown Brooklyn Area? I’m also curious as to the ridership changes in Williamsburg since housing has increased there as well. Has there been in increase in bus ridership since Williamsburg has grown over the past 5-10 years, or is it mostly just the And bikes?
  3. Oh yeah! Did they silently end that program? Or was there an official announcement?
  4. Ok so riders can ride to the Airport, I was thinking of Peekskill because it’s the closest to Bear Mountain Bridge, where a bus can go across to the Outlet
  5. I agree, It may be useful in heavy road congestion times, and with certain stations surrounded by walkable cities /towns. Do they still film shows in Stamford, CT? Maybe they can have a Woodbury Commons Shuttle from Peekskill. Yes, but since they increased the price of City Ticket, it’s only useful during peak trips (or when you get a Weekly). Because, off-peak, the City Ticket is better, since you can use it to/from Penn Station if plans change.
  6. Wouldn’t it make sense for them to ride the routes, observe ridership patterns and ask B/O and riders questions?
  7. I guess it will be convenient to buy a joint ticket from one’s home station, but the cost savings for them will be $0.25 during peak Metro North trips. Otherwise (outside of peak) City Ticket from Grand Central would be more economical. —— The joint ticket seems to benefit “reverse” commuters more, since the first half of the trip is the off-peak rate, and the transfer fee is $8 regardless if it’s peak or not. The $8 transfer fee does not introduce dual off-peak (weekends, midday) savings until origin-destination pairs are outside of NYC. Especially, those going further distances, like trips between Suffolk and Northern Westchester/Hudson Valley/CT. For trips between Western Nassau and Southern Westchester , the savings are $0.75-$1.25. (Which does add up, to be fair).
  8. Only comments for the B5 so far. By connecting to New Lots Ave station, it runs close enough to Gateway Center to walk over without transferring, and gives those in Canarsie an easy way to travel east, connects to the Q8, B55, B20, Etc. New lots Ave station is a Future Accessible station. The redesign should not just provide existing connections but provide new connections for easy travel. I’m not sure I see a reason for this. Spring Creek Riders are a block over from Pennsylvania Ave (B83). The B103 connects to the New Lots Ave from Cozine and Van Siclen. The B20 Connects to the Pennsylvania Ave from Stanley Ave and Van Siclen. Hegeman Ave is 2 blocks from the Van Siclen Station. New Lots Ave and Van Siclen is one block from the Van Siclen Ave station. Riverdale Ave is 1 Block over from the El, walkable to New Lots Ave and Pennsylvania Ave Stations. New Lots Ave has the B15 that will take them to New Lots Ave Station. New Lots Ave Station is a future accessible station The routing will provide connections to other Bus routes B55 B83 B5LTD B20 B15 Q8
  9. It’s been a while since Stop Spacing has been implemented. How has stop spacing affected run times throughout Nassau and Queens?
  10. The B17 is slow, you cannot go more than two blocks on Remsen Ave without stopping at a red signal.
  11. When NICE/LIB had the announcement system running on wheel revolutions, the timing of the announcements were somewhat better. Then, next stop was announced shortly after passing/ leaving the current stop, that gave the passenger enough time to acknowledge what they heard or saw on the display and ring the stop bell. With the GPS systems, the stop is announced very close to the stop, when it’s too late to ring the bell in time to Request a stop if it hasn’t been triggered already. Should/can they shift the announcement timing back a bit further from the stop?
  12. Bus shelter, Northern Blvd & 56th St. Eastbound Q66
  13. After reviewing the Brooklyn Redesign, I noticed a discrepancy with the Q51 “XT”. In both the Brooklyn and Queens redesigns, the Route profile maps indicate the eastern terminal is Francis Lewis Blvd. However, On the Brooklyn Remix Map, the eastern terminal is Linden and Francis Lewis Blvds. On the Queens Remix Map and route profile stop listing, the eastern terminal is Linden Blvd and 235th Street.
  14. The draft network looks easy to navigate.
  15. It took Atlantic and City Tickets for them to realize that lower fares increase ridership and revenue. Since Brooklyn and Queens are on Long Island, perhaps west of Jamaica should be zone 2 (Zone 1 for Manhattan Only) and they institute better fare structure especially for Brooklyn-Queens-Nassau.
  16. I think that was a Weekend G.O for the They probably tried not to send the too far so that the runtimes were similar and to not spread the service to Queens too thin.
  17. Bergen St? Do they discharge passengers at Jay Street?
  18. I think the point is that LIRR service patterns are not conducive to intermediate travel and/or increasing Ridership. If someone wanted to go from Valley Stream or Lynbrook to Rockville Center, they’d have to backtrack to Jamaica and pay to cross into zone 3 the majority of the time. If you want to go from Floral Park to Mineola or Hicksville, you have to backtrack to Jamaica and pay to cross into zone 3. Their proposed ESA plan is a bit better with local stops and express/local transfer opportunities.
  19. This is where OMNY’s Weekly Cap loses its value.
  20. Which branches/trains are using the Middle track? Ronkonkoma Trains which skip Mineola? Diesel trains to Babylon/Speonk/Montauk? Late Night freight trains?
  21. Two-way (Westbound) service Is now available at Elmont - UBS Arena Station. I agree. I believe on one of their videos they show alternating trains on tracks 1-3 for service to Penn and GCM.
  22. Does anyone know how/if westbound track assignments are going to change at Jamaica once Grand Central Madison opens? For example, Would all trains to Grand Central Madison arrive on tracks 1 and 2 and trains to Penn Station arrive on Tracks 3 and 4? Or, do you think they will alternate trains for easy same-platform transfers between terminals?
  23. It’s worse in terms of time frame, but you’re comparing 6 lanes of north-south traffic to 12+ Aves. As for closing streets, their plan is to make driving unbearable to discourage driving. They want traffic to come to a standstill, because then they can advocate for bus lanes/ways and public transit use, if not an expansion of congestion pricing to downtown Brooklyn. They can also replace any remaining parking garages with more overpriced housing.
  24. The point is that it’s a money grab. If no one sped then they’d lower the speed limit even more to generate revenue, then cry about “congestion” and “decreased bus speeds”. Never? It provides the “most efficient” routes. I-287 the one interstate from Staten Island to the Bronx that connects all 5 Boroughs, works as a Manhattan bypass and as a collector/distributor to most the Bridges and Tunnels to Manhattan, it also connects to the Long Island Expressway which is the main and only east-west expressway across Queens and Nassau (Suffolk has Sunrise Highway), etc. The Bushwick and Cross-Brooklyn Expressways were not built and so the BQE gets traffic that would have used those highways as well. FHVs are the main culprits in the whole city, but the CBD especially. Most observable plates are TLC plates, they drive slow, they stop anywhere to let off/pick up passengers, they cause blockages on side streets and wide avenues. On the highways they are the slowest vehicles as well and don’t stick to the right lane while doing so. MTA is horrendous as you’ve mentioned, especially weekends.
