  1. Well said. Every large and small mass transit (i.e local bus and light rail/subway)is different with different riders, travel patterns, etc. So we have to keep that in mind.
  2. I know it's a different ship and had it's own tragic end. However i thought it be a great tribute to Tiantic, the Fitzgerald and the Doria. Gordon Fitzgerald "Wreck of Edmund Fitzgerald" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0t66xvMdH0
  3. Wow. For a 'kid' in middle or high school you sound like a future mod lol. Seriously let us the professionals worry about ending a thread or not.
  4. 4 blocks. East NY LIRR is actually closer to the Albama station than the Jct. And of course the is right at the premieses of that LIRR station as well. Just trying to make it easier for why the B65 is extended to the Jct. or even Alabama Ave station that all.
  5. Yes but with the motels now open and area is not that safe for now having a bus run between alabama/fulton/jamaica ave. and the lirr could actually increase usage at that underused station. Plus Brooklyn Bus in an earlier proposal also stated one of those nearby buses such as the "B25" serve that area.
  6. No not just for the motels. Also gives riders access to the EAST NY LIRR as well.
  7. B35 via Church the area over by the Atlantic Ave and LIRR station just in last couple of years opened a couple of motels in area. Granted the cliente may not be for the whole family i.e I believe it's an Econo Lodge motel so workers need to get there. That the point of an extra bus serving Liberty/Penn Ave.
  8. And what about your planned sunday x27/28 service any changes?
  9. Why Sunday service Threexx? You admitted yourself you only been on the BM2 and BM5. The X27/28 had close to Zero ridership on sundays before the June 2010 Doomsday Cuts. That why if weekend service is restored it should start only with Saturday service. Plus the X17 only runs on Saturdays. Not sure if the BM1 and 2 even needs Sunday service. The MTA does not have endless monies. How do you pay for Sunday service Threexx and also VG8 if he jumps in? Not to mention running empty buses.
  10. Since several guys have already posted Local Brooklyn ideas let me briefly suggest mines for the Manhattan express buses. X27/28 Restore Saturday Hourly service between appx. 7am-9pm. 1st Manhattan Bound buses leave Sea Gate/Shore Rd at 7am and last Brooklyn bound buses leave 57th St at appx. 9pm. If ridership picks up then down the road restore Sunday X27/28 as well. During the June 2010 doomsday cuts only Sunday X27/28 service should been cut. BM1-2-3-Restore later Saturday service and operate every hour appx. 7am-7pm and every 90 minutes until last bus leaving Midtown at 11pm. While last Saturday BM1-2-3 leave their Brooklyn terminals at appx. 830pm(9pm at Checkpoint aka Church Ave/Ocean Pwy.) BM3 Brooklyn terminal extended to serve Trump Village (Neptune Ave between Ocean Pwy and West 6th St.) Last Midtown X28 leaves Sea Gate weekdays at 12 Noon. No other changes other than those listed. reactions?
  11. So honestly Threxx have you been on every bus route in Brooklyn i.e both local/limited and Manhattan express lines? Just curious.
  12. Plus Threexxx The B63 needs to stay on Atlantic Ave because it provides a direct transfer between the ®the B41 and other Brooklyn buses and LIU College Hosptial at last stop of B63 at Columbia St.
  13. Replies to ThreexxBus. Three I been riding Brooklyn and NYC buses way before you were born so I should know. And B35 being moody as i diagree with his ideas. However that cool and his call. And on Three maybe you should ask your parents to ride these routes more as it seems you never been on some of them. Some others are excellent ideas though. Lets go to my replies. New routes question? B53-Where is the other terminal? You only list the Downtown Brooklyn terminal? Sound like a foamer idea. B1-Why a limited? The buses would get stuck under the traffic/el along the "EL" on the "D" line between Stillwell and 18th Ave. B4-You mean Bay Ridge Parkway right? B5-You already have a "B9" so why this? A better idea IMO is a bus along Ave P/65th St (hello extened B31) route. B8-Agree. Still short turn trips Monday-Saturdays should begin/start at 18th Ave/86th 'D" station and Utica/Ave. D B10-Way Too Long. Plus people in Bed Stuvy are using the new Jay St transfer between the and the anyhow. Just shorting the B7 to Ave H/Utica weekends and 8pm-1am weekdays. The B10 IMO should runs along B35's idea between Utica Ave and 86th/4th via 13/14th Ave., Coureltyou and Calderdon Rd. B16-Just run it via Ft. Hamilton between Empire Blvd and Propsect Park station. B24-Only the Greenpoint Ave section between West St/Manhattan Ave. "G" station and 46th/Queens Blvd needs weekend service restored. B31-That one that should be extended via Ave P/65th St to Bay Ridge Ave/Shore Rd. B34-Utica/Eastern Pwy is close enough where East NY riders can take the LIRR Atlantic branch to Jamaica. B37-Young man i don't think this route is coming back. B40-Unless you plan as the local NY Ave route for the B44 there no need for this. The Local B44 should be just be called B44a (meaning local service) when SBS is running. B42-Why extend it to WBP? There already the B60 and Patchern/Rochester is already walking distance to the B46, B47, and B60. B47-Not a bad idea since the B7 is cut to Utica/Ave. H(under my plan) or gone in your's and B35's plan. B82-Some trips should be extended to Gateway for east-west access I.e western half of Starret City and parts of Western Canarise. Overnights all trips terminate at Starret City. B19-Way too long. Not many riders from Bushwick/Williamsburg going to Ikea/Sunset Park. You underestimating the importance of the new Jay St transfer. B63-Have you been on this route? It already has terrible bunching problems. extending to Camden Plaza would make it worse. Keep it as it is. B68-Sound like a foamer three. Do you want 40 minute waits during when schools is open or summer season for beach goers due to bus bunching? B50-If you live in Williamsburg do you want to travel nearly 2 hours on a bus(with traffic)to get to Kingsboro? Residents in Williamsburg will likely take the "J/M" to Essex, then the "F" and transfer to the "B1" at Ave X which saves at least a half hour travel time. The B44 SBS will already be an alternative traveling along Rogers. B71-B35's idea is much better. I would revise his idea and run it weekdays only between South Ferry and Grand Army Plaza via old B71 routing and then the BBT to/from Lower Manhattan. Q24-Heard of the "J" Train and B47 bus? yes most of the Brooklyn "J" line stations are not ada accesible. However the Q24 is already very unreilble and needs help with bus bunching. Just restore service to the DeKalb Ave area daily (some trips)6am-11pm daily. Sorry if i am harsh three but i give real world replies as a Teacher.
  14. The Q35 during summer weekends is Crushloaded SRO where last summer i saw personally a Rockaway Park-Q35 not stop at the Kings Plaza (Flatbush South between Ave. U & V)stop. Again even with increased headways, not sure what can help? Thus why i suggested a Summer only Q35X between Nostrand/Flatbush and Riis Park in addition to regular Q35 service. If the BX5 and BX12 can have summer specials to Ochard Beach why not extra service for the Q35 and 53 to the Rockaways?
  15. Try telling that to the ADA community Acela. Essex is not wheelchair accesible and it's a pain for Northern Brooklyn riders to get to the Lower East Side. Acela the B39 should have remained a weekday only route, Guys please lets keep it(the chat) to Southern Brooklyn bus route proposals and comments. Feel free to create another thread for B39 and other Nothern Brooklyn routes. Thanks
  16. Here a blast from the past. A #1 international pop hit from 1991. Londonbeat" I been thinking about You"
  17. Another Beach 116th bound Q35 arrived about 10 minutes later at Flatbush South between U & V with some standees but not crushloaded on that particuarly Saturday last summer.
  18. My friend (B35) yes i did a couple of years back(before the June '10 doomsday cuts canned weekend service)suggested the B2 be extended to Riis Park(summer weekends only) not only to relieve overcrowding on the Q35 but also increase B2 weekend ridership. Now it's not running on the weekend (B2)the Q35x is a new idea. Last summer on a Saturday i was fanning from Rockaways-Coney Island and getting off at Kings Plaza for the "B3" even at 3-4pm in afternoon Beach 116th-Bound Q35's was Crushloaded and one bus*bypassed* the Flatbush South/Ave U. (Kings Plaza stop) By an 'express' (it would be only for a few hours in peak direction each way say 8am-12 Noon To Riis and 4-8pm Towards Nostand)Rockaway-bound Q35's between Kings Highway and Kings Plaza have a much better chance of getting a seat. However your idea B35 is also a possible solution. Main objective is that riders on Southbound Q35's have a chance of a seat in rest of Brooklyn *south of the Nostrand & Flatbush station* during the summer. Northbound Q35's there also the B41 and for a short period also the B9's as alternatives.
  19. Under my idea, a restore pre MTA era Q53 'express' would run on summer weekends only but without the Rego Park stop(63rd Drive & Queens Blvd)in peak direction i.e To Rockaway park appx. 7am-12 Noon and From Rockaway Park 3-8pm every 30 minutes. The proposed Q53X summer special stops would only be: All existing Q53 stops between Woodside and Hoffman(Woodhaven & Queens Blvd station) Metro Ave. Liberty Ave '1' stop in Broad Channel (21st Road) All stops on Rockaway Pensuila between the Bridge and Beach 116th. By doing this, it still creates some room on lower half on Woodhaven Q53 service southbound. At same time ditto for Queens Blvd/Woodside bound Q53's along the line as well. And I also disagree with B35 on the "Q35." The buses from Nostrand/Flatbush station are crushloaded during summer weekends so a bus starting at Kings Plaza will not help that much. That why i suggested a Q35X running only between Riis Park and Flatbush/Nostrand in addition to regular Q35 service. PS Checkmate I am fully aware the Q35 is a limited along Flatbush Ave. Reactions?
  20. Trainfan actually likes 1980's old peoples music? LOL. Great choice and a great song telling story of 1 of the most popular Hollywood movie actress of the 20th Century. Now my turn. One of the best disco songs of all time. Surprised no major singer has remade this lol. "Relight My Fire" Dan Hartman featuring Loleatta Holloway
  21. I agree with most of B35's comments on current Rockaways bus service in 2012. With that said i like to make additional takes. 1)IMO either the Q22 or Q53 should have overnight hourly service since there is currently no late night east-west mass transit (i.e bus or subway)connecting all of the rockaways. Not to mention an alternative in case of bad weather when the "A" or Rockaway park shuttle is not running. 2)Create Saturday "Limited" Q113 service for faster service between Far Rockaway and rest of SE Queens/Jamaica. 3)During summer weekends only, create special few "Q35X" buses stopping only at Flatbush/Nostrand, Kings Highway, Kings Plaza and Riis Park. It would operate similar to BX12 and BX5 Ochard Beach specials designed to relieve overcrowding on the Q35. 4)Ditto for creating a couple the Q53 'express' summer weekends only. However it would start/end at 74th St/Jackson Heights and stop at Grand Ave/Queens Blvd, Hoffman/Woodhaven(QC Mall), Metro Ave then non stop to/from Rockaway Park. Similar to pre MTA take over days. Just my takes. reactions?
  22. In honor of Good Friday. "We Are the World" Oringal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP5s-1VyXNU
  23. I agree and that a great idea to run the B2/31/100 all on Ave. R. between Nostrand and the East 16th St station. Only issue is that some riders (mainly students/staff at Madison HS)on Queitin Rd screaming about losing bus service.
  24. Too bad it could not be on a weekend i.e Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Or another time as i already have plans for upcoming Easter/Passover weekend. Next time i am in Albany i try to check out the bus plus.
