1. Hey majority of you guys are on the boards are under 30 so of course many ofyou into either Hip-Hop, Reggeaton or Techno Dance. Remember not everyone is in the NYC 5 boros. Too bad the music i grew up with mostly R&B/Old School Hip Hop and Rock is slowly fading away.
2. Bro(B35) and i thought i was tough on Q23 on replying to the #67. Q23 is a teen from Queens and seems to making all of these suggestions from reading a map from his computer lol. And likely never been of any of the lines he proposing. At least a good poster checkmate will ask questions while making route proposals even if never been on it.
3. Oh yes. Even almost 20 years ago waiting for a Queens-bound N22 or N24(forgot bus line i took lol)and going home then to Brooklyn couple of days before X-mas and the bus taking 40-plus minutes just to get to Mineola station.
4. You missing the point Q23. Since it seems you never been on it, the #67 provides the only 1-seat transit ride between Downtown Newark/Newark Airport and Old Bridge/Rt.9 coordior and Toms River. Why should those going between Newark and NJ shore have to backtrack to NYC and go to the PABT? Not to mention the #67 provides coverage on Rt.9 as a 2nd route when 139 is delayed on Manhattan trips. It not the same to make proposals for bus ideas from a map or computer if you never been on it. Not meant to be rude but Q23 I think you should stick to NYC bus ideas.
5. Q23 have you been on NICE before? You aware as i brought before about the heavy traffic during rush hours and sometimes Saturday afternoons on Jericho?
6. Great idea buddy! Thus this thread is now history and closed. To comment on the June 2012 Service changes. Here link. http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/35498-nice-planned-nice-service-cutsadjustments-in-june-2012/
7. Any comments on the planned Nice Service Cuts/adjustments In June 2012?
8. At this point I think this topic has reached the end since it been 2 months into the current Nice Route set-up. Unless there several of you want the chat to continue with a good reason. This thread has also become unpinned. When this is locked either today or shortly, feel free to discuss ffuture NICE service plans in attached link or similar topics. It's your call ladies and gents. http://www.nyctransi...salsideas-2012/
9. I known for the past 20 years bus fanning in LIB/NICE Buses, both Jericho and Hillside Avenue during rush hours (mainly friday nights and also Saturdays during the Christmas/New Years Holidays)can be a parking lot. So can Hempstead Turnpike. Maybe not so much from the Southern Pwy. but the cars are coming from somewhere i.e LIE or Northern State. So wanted to clairfy that.
10. Thank You. At least run the N78/79 Weekdays to Roosevelt Field supplemental the N24. I am sure there been bus bucnhing delays since the new setup started. Jericho Turnpike is often used an alternative when the Southern State has massive delays. The N78/79 could have run every 20-30 minutes rush hour/weekday middays and every hour late evenings.
11. Here this great late 1970's slow jam classic. It been remade couple of times, first by the Cover Girls in the early '90's and more recently by Seal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzKyyLvUxWA
12. I would have a Q89 become the Through HHE route betwen Little Neck/Great Neck and Queens Center Mall. While the Q88 remains the same. I think HHE now warrants a 24/7 route and would be a restortation to Q30 service that lost owl service a while back. Right that part of NW Queens only has '2' 24/7 routes the Q12 and Q27.
13. And listening to this classic from the early 1990's. Wow hard to believe this summer is the 20th Annivesary of this great song. (1992)
14. Following the classic rock trend recently. Take it away King Jimi. 1) 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2bYJQFQMs8
15. Simple. Indirectly the competation from then dollar gypsy vans. In late 1980's the Q5 24/7 terminal in SE Queens was Rosedale LIRR. Dozens of passengers would walk across the busy Sunrise Highway about 1 mile beween the LIRR Rosedale station and Green Acres. When the dollar vans started to provide regular service to the mall, and hundreds of letters requesting it the MTA decided to extend the service. Thus the Q5 starting in 1989 and a few years later the Q85, was extended to Green Acres the first NYCT buses to serve Nassau, LI. Hope it answers your question. Here link for more info. PS I still think Green Acres with riders from SE Queens working at the Green Acres Wal Mart and other overnight shifts should have the Q5 run hourly overnight service to Green Acres. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bus_routes_in_Queens
16. Some thing way way back to time. Here one of the biggest hits of 1985. In sense they were the oringal "Spice Girls' a bi-racial pop/R&B group created by Rick James. They are the Mary Jane Girls. Here their only major smash hit "In my house." As a then 12 year old in summer of '85, i had a huge crush on all of the members of this band lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihgii8Pe8IM&feature=related
17. CDTA i doubt the word "shit" is said in this lol. Seriously this 'jam' came out in the late 1950's, (the later remake by Micheal Jackson came out nearly 20 years later in the '70's)in a much more consertative America then. This was an era where TV cameras did not allow Elvis to show his 'dance moves' (aka suspected sex acts)so IMO CDTA you listening too much into the song.
18. With start of the summer holiday season here at start of Memorial Weekend, a new classic describing summer. Remixed to the old Kool and Gang classic instrumental "summer madness'.
19. To this day still the *biggest solo*(non Beatles)hit of his carrer and likely for rest of his life as well lol. #1 smash hit from Paul McCartney and his back up band Wings. Home movies with brief clips of his 1975-'76 world tour as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_9QooYDYtU&feature=related
20. Disagree about ENY. It's actually increasing in ridership in recent years as new riders i.s mostly 'hipsters' transfer there to the line for access to Eastern Queens and LI. While Williamsbridge is a basically part time station despite being open 7 days a week. Meaning late evenings after 9pm, almost all of the Local White Plains trains(Harlem line)already bypass this stop anyway. So keep it as is.
21. Actually one of my teachers in 3-4th grade was a huge fan of Toto. The band posters was all over her desk. Not to mention she was a nice looking redhead. Man i miss the 1980's. Toto a good band best known for their soft rock/pop sound that won several grammys in that era.
22. On Allan's idea, i also don't think a proposed Q51 between Rock Park and Sheapshead Bay is needed. The only time as i discussed earlier in the Queens/Rockaways Bus Ideas thread the Q35 needs help (aka a 2nd bus route)is summer weekends. In that case a better idea is to restore weekend B2 service and extend that baby down to Riis Park. Granted even 20 years ago when i went to Kingsboro Community College for a year, there were quiet a number of students who lived in the Rockaways and drove to KCC. That would be the only possible riders from the Rockaways that would reguarly use a Q51 route. Instead a better use was Brooklyn Bus(aka Allan)earlier proposal of a route between Stillwell Terminal using mainly Neptune/Emmons, Knapp and Avenue U and terminate at Kings Plaza. Just my takes.
