  1. Marc sorry but disagree. There no need for a Mets N20/N21 special bus. People in Nassau north shore will more than likely use the Pt Washington line and 'park and ride' their cars at either Great Neck or Pt. Washington(they have done for years)and then drive home.
  2. <has seen slow moving traffic even on the HOV lanes on a friday afternoon especially on summer weekends.
  3. Oh how do you know 'people' in Great Neck like this *merged Great Neck N20/N80 want it? You have proof QJ? Again your N20/80 express will 'fail' unless you can take off cars off the road. Remember Nassau is the car captial of the NYC metro area.
  4. Oh yes. QJ avoiding answering my replies to his 'einstein' ideas again below.
  5. NO! No! No! QJ.B) You never learn. There no ridership along the LIE HOV. You never heard of the LIE is a parking lot even on the HOV weekdays. If anything the only LIB/Nice routes that could use highway service is the peak hour N22/24 along Northern State/GCP(too bad it not designed for bus use.) And what did i say about mergering the N20(even w/ 'short turn" Great Neck trips)w/ the N80. You aware weekdays Northern Blvd can be a parking lot well into Brookville. Maybe extend the N80/81 could be extended to/from CW Post weekdays only. Have you ever been on LI Bus QJ?QJ no rude remarks to me in your replies.
  6. If you going to run the N79 on sundays only Checkmate then you might as well run it 7 days a week. Or just run the N80/81 or 73/74 sundays only between RFM and Hicksville. Checkmate I know you never been on it before but from my several times riding the N79 at least 8-10 riders(usually more)transfer to the N22/24 at RFM to travel to/from Queens. Old Country in the Carle Place/Westbury area *just east* of RFM is like Hylan in SI filled with Wal-Mart, Target and several major box stores along that coordior. I don't think (other than the weekday issue of traffic on Jericho/Hillside Ave.)extending the N24 is worse idea.
  7. The problem is the now very long "N24" subject to traffic coming to/from Queens via Jericho Turnpike/Jamaica Ave. When the LIE and Northern State/GCP are sometimes parking lots, both Hillside and Jericho are used as defacto alternative routes. There is 1 advantage for the N24 extension to Hicksville. That for first time Queens and Western Nassau riders along Jericho now have a 1-seat ride to/from the numerous department stores along Old Country i.e Wal-Mart, Target, etc. With that said, due to the almost traffic delays during weekdays along Jericho and also in the RFM area, that why IMO as a compromise at least weekdays the N79 should still run between RFM and Hicksville to provide a back-up to the N24. And if bus bunching/delays are a huge problem for the N24 as i stated before that new Hicksville-RFM-Jamaica via Old Country route should have a rush hour 'limited' as well. If you read my posts earlier in the thread I would have a N24a Local running between East meadow and Jamaica as a Jerico Turnpike local.
  8. Speaking of dance classics of the late 1970's here a smash hit by Peter Brown. "Dance with Me" Peter Brown Peter Brown - Dance With Me - YouTube
  9. The Bee Gees are so *underrated* among the best in pop music history. They belong in same area code of legends such as Elvis, Micheal Jackson, the Beatles and Rolling Stones. Too bad they associated with 'disco' era. The Gibb Brothers also written dozens of #1 and pop hits in the 1970's/80's as well from Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick, Yvone Illman, Barbara Steisstand and others.
  10. A great song for playboys and as kids now say 'players' lol who fall in love and want to get steady lol. Not offical video but this person who created this did a great job. Elvis Bishop "Fooled Around and Fell in Love"
  11. So what is your proposals qj? And please not a merger of the N20/80? The N20 as it is between flushing and Hicksville is already close to 2 hours during rush hours in bad traffic.
  12. IMO before you 'worry' about 24/7 service between Hicksville and Jamaica, i would be strongly pleading for a 1)'limited' n24 2)maintain at least weekday N78/79 old country road service. It almost a sure bet the N24 will be subject to frequent delays due to traffic on it's soon to be extended route to Hicksville. Plus there also the LIRR as well for overnight. If anything the N20 should be a 24/7 Queens-Hicksville route since most of Northern Blvd and the North shore of Nassau County does not have a suitable alternative mass transit wise. FYI. In past, during LIRR 'strikes' there was 24/7 bus service along the current N22/79 route between Hicksville and Jamica.
  13. To avoid 'confusion' for N6 and N22 riders IMO i think Veolia should take a page from staten island limited stop service. That is rename the 'express' portions the N90-N100's i.e N102=N22x N6=N106, etc.
  14. There a Guys joint in same shopping center i go often for grocery shopping (Price Chopper/Stop & Shop)that opened a year ago. It had 1x and it was ok. However i still prefer "Sonic' not far from me either down in Wappinger Falls and up in Kingston, NY. Sonic which started in the South has now expanded to the Northeast section of our country.
  15. I assume Veoila officals felt most of the riders using the new N6X are subway riders. Still IMO i would have added Belmont Park and Elmont Rd. as stops on this new N6x. As far as the new N22X i could tell either what stops (if any)are made between 179th/Hillside and RFM? And what are the opearting hours (i assume weekday rush hours)for these new N22X and N6x?
  16. Agreed. It should still serve Mineola 7 days a week IMO but bypass the Mineola LIRR/Transit Center on a routing like the N15.
  17. Amtrak if it were up to me riding the N24/N79 over the years this is what i would do. Weekdays N24 operates as a 'limited' the entire length between Hicksille and Jamaica from appx. 6am-9pm. All stops 9pm-Midnight(last bus) Every 15-20 minutes rush hours and every 20-30 minutes middays/evenings. Every Hour appx. 10pm-Midnight. I would create a new "N5" running weekdays only between East Meadow/RFM and Jamaica as the Jericho Turnpike local weekdays 6am-9pm. Every 15 minutes rush hours and every 20 minutes middays/evenings 7-9pm. N79 runs between Walt Whitman and RFM via Old Country Road. Rush Hours every 20 minutes and middays every 30 minutes. N78 rush hours only between Hicksville and. Weekends N24 Hicksville-RFM-Jamaica Local via Old Country Road and Jericho. Saturdays appx. 10am-8pm 'short trips' running only between between Jamaica and RFM. Saturday N24 headways Hicksville-RFM-Jamaica 6am-8am 40 minutes 8am-8pm 40 minutes (every 20 minutes between RFM and Jamaica) 8pm-Midnight 60 minutes Sundays 8am-11am 60 minutes 11am-7pm 30 minutes 7pm-11pm(last bus) 60 minutes N79 (Saturdays only)between RFM and Walt Whitman. Sundays "N79" runs only between Hicksville and RFM. I do agree with amtrak this could be part of a masterplan to down the road, totally end the "N78/79." reactions?
  18. As a former semi-regular user of the old LI Bus when i went to CW Post for a semster in 2003, my replies on the proposed changes. N16-No comment as i never been on that route. N23-I am confused by this proposal? Does the N23 run to both Mineola and RFM during rush hours? Still IMO, it should still serve Mineola but *not stop at the Mineola LIRR* similar to the N-15. Looks like Veoila is trying to take make dramtic changes in north-south central nassau bus service. This is basically making the N-27 a shuttle. Wonder how Mr. Pine will reply? N24 replaces the N78/79 between Hicksville and Minoela. This has both huge pluses and minues. The advantages is that for 1st time riders along the busy Old Country Road coordior have a direct bus to Queens. Big negative is that this new N24 route is subject to bus bunching/delays caused by traffic. My takes is this. Veoila should just run a 'shuttle route' between East Meadow/Uniondale and Minoela. N24 should also have 'limited stop' service such as the N20 and N22. The N79 should still run between RFM and Walt Whitman at least weekdays as a 'back-up' in case the "N24" is delayed. reactions?
  19. Sorry Cait. Have you not heard the joke of White Castle being 's_t" burgers by many people lol? Wendy's has gotten so much better. Again I only eat hamburgers on occasion, but for $2 you can a double burger lettuce and tomato and pickels. Much bigger than a whopper junior. Still now when i can i really now enjoy "Sonic "here in Dutchess County (guys if you never heard of sonic please do a google search) or when i am in San Diego 2x a year, the great IN & Out Burgers. IMO they both blow away Mickey D's or most other burger joints for great tasting burgers.
  20. "Residents on the Upper East Side claim vibrations from the regular blasting at the Second Avenue subway construction site is damaging their historic brownstone properties. There are 45 landmarked homes between Second and Third Avenues stretching from East 60th Street to 63rd Street. Many of the homes in the area were built in the late 1800s. “I worry about the building because it’s moving,” one resident told 1010 WINS’ Glenn Schuck. “I’m wondering if one of them will fall down eventually.” He claims there are cracks on the walls and staircase all the way to the fourth floor of his East 62nd Street brownstone. Some homeowners are considering asking for an injunction to stop the blasting. According to a published report, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said the blasting is below levels allowed by the buildings department." 23. I don't even eat at mickey d's any more for burgers lol. I now eat at other places every once in a while such as Burger King or Wendy's for that. Maybe every few months a chicken sandwich or nuggets or sometimes their ice cream at mcdonalds that all.B) PS Foxie you should add chicken mcnuggets to the choices as well.
  24. Since we just celebrated valentine day here an all time R&B classic slow jam. My sister used to play this alot in the early 1980's. Surprised no one has remade it.
  25. Remember the ® is not running between appx. 1130pm-5am so it's the running via the Tunnel.
