sebbieprops Posted July 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 10, 2007 I'm a fan of the IRT lines, or so you could say. I prefer them over the IND and the BMT. Always have.

sebbieprops Posted July 10, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 10, 2007 What do you like about them? I've always found them to be more efficient (they seem to run faster and more frequently than the IND) --- or maybe that's just my perception. Besides, the introduction of the R142 on the , , and really helps. You always know what the next stop is, due to the automated stripmap - even if you've got headphones on, you can see it clearly displayed.
Eastman346 Posted July 10, 2007 Share #5 Posted July 10, 2007 The IRT looks like its the busiest lines in the system.

sebbieprops Posted July 10, 2007 Share #9 Posted July 10, 2007 C'mon Sebastian a distant memory. Well maybe they are. I guess the past few years have really seemed to drag for me. Probably just my own perception.
Tracknut Posted July 10, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted July 10, 2007 I used them enough not to be a distant memory. They were great trains and fast.
sebbieprops Posted July 10, 2007 Share #11 Posted July 10, 2007 I used to ride them often myself, since I use the line most frequently. They were great trains and fast, agreed - it just seems like a long time ago to me. Can't explain why.
PATCOman Posted July 10, 2007 Share #12 Posted July 10, 2007 I like the IRT. I like how a few of the stations are on sharp curves. The station architechute for the contract 1 stations looks unique especially for 125 Street and Broadway, 168 and 181 Streets. The express from Brooklyn Bridge to 14 Street is pretty fast as well as the express from 96 Street to 42 Street. The only downside about the IRT system is that there is no car diversity in the system; R142 (A)s dominate most of the IRT and there is no good RFW. I miss the redbirds too. The trains are also more frequent than the IND IMO.
DOB2RTO Posted July 12, 2007 Share #13 Posted July 12, 2007 I love the New Tech cars in the B-Division (R-160s'), over the New Tech IRT cars (142s'), but as a (hopeful) Future T/O, I would prefer to work in the IRT, as most of their lines are close to Yonkers, where I reside. Mr. Harlem Line Posted July 12, 2007 Share #14 Posted July 12, 2007 My favorite division has always been the IRT (A Division), although I liked it a whole lot more when the Redbirds were around.

Pelham Bay Dave Posted September 1, 2007 Share #16 Posted September 1, 2007 I always been a IRT fan I grew up riding the IRT and when I started with transit I worked the IRT mostly the 4/5/6 Lines. However when I became a T/O I was forced to the B Div. Now I have senority to pick anywhere but its looking I'm staying in the B Div but I am not ruling out a return to the # 6 Line. error46146 Posted September 1, 2007 Share #18 Posted September 1, 2007 IRT trains are okay. The platforms are too short though. IND will always be the best !!
R1Toasty Posted September 1, 2007 Share #19 Posted September 1, 2007 Well, I like the IRT... 6 rules! When I become a T/O, hopefully I'll be out on the 6 sometimes, even better, the local so I can go through City Hall
Eastman346 Posted September 1, 2007 Share #20 Posted September 1, 2007 I can operate an IRT it would be the 4 express for sure. Those runs up and down Lexington look like alot of fun. Plus the 4 is a three borough line.
