IRT Bronx Express Posted February 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2011 MTA Capital Construction and the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce have launched "Shop Second Avenue...It's Worth It!," a campaign affirming that Second Avenue's attractive shops, restaurants and neighborhood businesses are open during construction of the Second Avenue Subway. As part of the campaign, MTA Capital Construction and MCC also unveiled a new "model block," completed this week on Second Avenue from East 92nd - East 93rd Street. This prototype vastly improves the streetscape on the block where shoppers and residents alike will be greeted with fence wrapping advertising stores, new uniform fencing and repainted barriers. Amtrak7 Posted February 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 12, 2011 Yet MORE??? If all this community opposition didn't exist, the MTA would've had the Second Ave Subway done quite a bit earlier.

w8Hou Posted February 12, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 12, 2011 Seriously, who would shop on Second Avenue with all the construction, dust, garabge, street changes, etc....?
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted February 12, 2011 Share #7 Posted February 12, 2011 I frequented a few Italian restaurants and shops on 2nd and 1st Ave in the 80s and haven't been up there since the construction began. Such a shame how the businesses have been decimated up there.
