GreatOne2k Posted June 13, 2011 Share #176 Posted June 13, 2011 Thus the reason the should run the full route from Bowling Green at least until 1230am Monday-Saturdays amd 1130pm Sundays. And the shuttle extended to at least 149-GC. If that means ending the express in Manhattan at around 1230am so be it. to 149 St-GC will not affect the express, only to 42 St-GC (and 125 St) would do that. MTA has the evening service ending that same time on Saturday and Sunday. can end at 12am at BG 7 days a week.
Kendell Posted June 13, 2011 Share #177 Posted June 13, 2011 Yeah If the 3rd Ave El was still saved Trains Can run Via the Line Until Gun Hill Rd Then via the Line To Dyre. If the was extened to Orcahrad Beach The Line can be Extened over there So the mta can get more money on the 4th of july
Roadcruiser1 Posted June 16, 2011 Share #178 Posted June 16, 2011 Well it didn't, and the Third Avenue Elevated won't have had supported the R142's anyway. The R142's would be too heavy for the Third Avenue Elevated. You can tell by seeing how the early Redbirds ran on the remaining section of the Third Avenue Elevated. They ran in 4 car pairs, because they were too heavy for the Elevated Structure.
TwoTimer Posted June 16, 2011 Share #179 Posted June 16, 2011 The el also did not connect in any way to the Westchester railroad, or what is today the Dyre ROW.
Roadcruiser1 Posted June 16, 2011 Share #180 Posted June 16, 2011 It could have had been linked up to the Lexington Avenue Line though, or the Second Avenue Subway if the elevated line could have had been rebuilt to BMT/IND specifications. This is a maps of the Bronx section which survived till 1977.
TwoTimer Posted June 16, 2011 Share #181 Posted June 16, 2011 Yeah of course (there's still vacant land north of the portal by Westchester Av), and some of those stations would have to go as much shorter trains ran then.
MikeGerald Posted June 17, 2011 Share #182 Posted June 17, 2011 The el also did not connect in any way to the Westchester railroad, or what is today the Dyre ROW. The Third Avenue El DID connect with the IRT Elevated on Westchester AVenue just "north" of the 149th Street-Third Avenue station - where the steel work for the columns still exist to this day. In addition the Third Avenue el connected at the Gun Hill Road Station on the lower level of the two track level elevated station. While these connections were severed decades ago, they did exist. TwoTimer Posted June 17, 2011 Share #183 Posted June 17, 2011 I didn't mean the IRT down there, I know that did, some poster wanted to send the to Dyre after Gun Hill Road station back in the days when there was a lower level. That can't happen.

EE Broadway Local Posted June 25, 2011 Share #185 Posted June 25, 2011 This would be nice, Shortline Bus, but I believe the and combine to give Lexington Avenue ten minute service late nights between Brooklyn Bridge and 125th Street and the same with the and on Broadway. I asked a similar question recently in the NYC bus thread. http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=428912#post428912 What changes on any subway route would you want to see? Also should headways on certain busy lines i.e be increased to every 15 minutes until as late as 3am at least on Friday/Saturday Nights for club goers?
