Brighton Local Posted April 18, 2013 #1 Posted April 18, 2013 MTH's 2013 Volume 2 Catalog is now available online: http://www.mthtrains.com/sites/default/files/catalog_files/2013_v_2/index.html Personally, I did not expect to see anything related, but here it is: For us long-time Modelers, Mike threw us a bone with re-runs of the R-17 Red-Robin (Not Redbird) Scheme, The R-17 in Silver/Blue colors, and which is cool, another run of the R-142As. As we see, a price for a 4-Car Subway Set has skyrocketed to 459.95. Whats also changed is that, the last time the R-142As were placed in the catalog in 2007, it was for a 5-car set, and now MTH reduced it to a 4 Car Set... Aside from the 4 car sets, the 2-car add-ons are available for all 3 sets, plus they're also doing the single subway cars on the flatcars.. Like I said, for myself, this is bittersweet, but for you guys who are entering the hobby, here is your chance to grab that R142A and the Silver/Blue R-17. I know im definitely getting at least 2 6-Car Sets of the R142As this time, and at least the 1 - 2-car add-on for the R17 Silver/Blue. The route on the R142A shows the again. I hope it s a or a different line this time. Between the 4-car set and the single subway car on the flatcar, the R-17s (both versions) show a & . So in essence, it is way too early to see which routes they will be producing for each model. We definitely could use a Train already. As more information emerges with these revived subway sets, Ill keep us posted on here. The catalog's should be in stores at the end of April, beginning of May. Happy Railroading Zach
Brighton Local Posted April 18, 2013 Author #3 Posted April 18, 2013 Im thinking also of getting that Premier Southern Pacific Dash-9. love it!
R160 Posted April 23, 2013 #4 Posted April 23, 2013 Would you recommend pre-ordering the R-142? Shipping date is Nov. 2013.
Brighton Local Posted April 23, 2013 Author #5 Posted April 23, 2013 Would you recommend pre-ordering the R-142? Shipping date is Nov. 2013. I would recommend pre-ordering 2 R142A sets
R160 Posted April 24, 2013 #6 Posted April 24, 2013 Where would you recommend pre-ordering them from? And when does pre-ordering start?
yardlet6 Posted April 30, 2013 #7 Posted April 30, 2013 If you go to most hobby stores as a regular, they can pre-order for you, sometimes with a deposit. Nassau Hobby is good. So is Trainland.
subway4832 Posted May 1, 2013 #9 Posted May 1, 2013 Im gonna order 3 R142A's but slowly. Maybe one set every few months. The R17's are beautiful, although. I hope its the 2 or 4 line, 6 is fine but we need something different.
Brighton Local Posted May 3, 2013 Author #10 Posted May 3, 2013 Order them NOW! Those will NOT last. Im getting at least 2 R142A sets
subway4832 Posted May 4, 2013 #11 Posted May 4, 2013 And let's not forget about the ones on the flatcars
R160 Posted May 14, 2013 #12 Posted May 14, 2013 The two non-powered cars are both middle cars which sucks. Will have to order that as well as the lead car on the flatcar and then take away one from the 2 car set to have a 6 car set.
Dan05979 Posted May 14, 2013 #13 Posted May 14, 2013 I just pre ordered a 5 car set. $500 is a tough swallow.
R160 Posted May 18, 2013 #15 Posted May 18, 2013 I pre-ordered the 4 car set and 2 car add-on. Can't wait!
AA 8th Avenue Posted June 23, 2013 #16 Posted June 23, 2013 They definitely make a small run if the R142. I bought two and sold one set out if necessity for $1250. Yes folks people will pay that much for a 142 set. I do hope they make it a train because many of us who got the original could not finish the 10 car set because the add ins were sold out. So preorder ASAP if you want to make sure you will own one. Good luck everyone
Brighton Local Posted June 24, 2013 Author #17 Posted June 24, 2013 I ordered 2 4-Car Sets and and 1 2-car add-on, so I can have a full 10 car train
subway4832 Posted June 26, 2013 #18 Posted June 26, 2013 Same here dude, that way if I get two four car sets, get one add on, and one of Each car from the add on with the 4 car set to make a 10 car set can't wait, may even order a third set
Brighton Local Posted August 1, 2013 Author #19 Posted August 1, 2013 Ive been tempted for a 3rd set.. Not going to lie..
NYtransit Posted September 14, 2013 #20 Posted September 14, 2013 Can some one explain to me how back ordering at trainworld works? I've thinking about back ordering one or two R142A 4 car sets. But Do I pay up front for the back order or once they recieve the back order?
Brighton Local Posted October 17, 2013 Author #21 Posted October 17, 2013 Usually you back order it with them, and they you pay when the product arrives. Im not sure how their policy works now. Its been awhile since I purchased anything through back order from them.. But usually, you give them your information, and they might, dont quote me, might get a credit card number from you.
