The MTA president official word about the R211T only running on a “local line“ of the ‘C” line is just by choice, saying that it’s a new model that has never ran on this system before and they feel it’s safer “for now “ to only run it on a local line such as the “C” line.  https://www.youtube.com/live/xGnokEK-ypM?si=YMb6SsonH-akdza_

Does this mean all 4100 series cars are on property?

Not really. 4170-4194 yet to be delivered, but as I said back last year. Kawasaki never delivers cars in straight order.

UPDATE ON THE R211S AS OF 1/26/24

R211s in service

R211A:  65 cars, or 6 1/2 10-car sets

4060-69, pilot

4070-74, 4115-19

4075-79, 4105-09

4095-99, yes, it's just a lone set. It got disconnected from 4105-09 so it can most likely connect with 4090-94

4100-04, 4120-24

4110-14, 4125-29

4130-39

All are (obviously) assigned in pitkin

R211 Deliveries

R211A: 4060-4169, 4195-99, 115 cars or 11 10-car sets and 1 5-car set; 4140-69 are at CIY, 4195-99 at SBK

R211T: 4040-4059, 20 cars or 2 10-car sets; both sets at Pitkin; All Ts delivered, no more Ts until maybe Option Order II; will hopefully see service soon

R211S: 100-104, 1 5-car set; set at Clifton; will hopefully see service in March

Total number of cars delivered: 140

R211s confirmed as built

So, besides the ones that are obviously delivered to the city, here are the other ones that are built

R211A: 4170-4194, 4200-4234, 60 cars or 6 10-car sets; All at Lincoln, NE at the Kawasaki plant

R211S: 105-109, 5 cars or 1 5-car set; At Kawasaki Yonkers plant in Yonkers, NY, north of The Bronx; All remaining R211Ss will most likely get delivered to Clifton, not SBK

Total cars built and not delivered: 65 cars

Add that up with the delivered cars and you get...

175 R211As (4060-4234)

20 R211Ts (4040-4059)

10 R211Ss (100-109)

and 205 R211s in total. (100-104, 4040-4234)

I hope you liked this update, and thanks for reading.

4095-99 is coupled with 4130-4134 as of this morning. May the random switch-arounds BEGIN!!!!  again.....

Be patient. They will come. R211S will do 30 day revenue in March. The T version will be anytime this quarter. Let them catch up one section at a time.

Can someone explain to me how (lack of) "smoke alarms" pose a problem for the R211 running express? Correct me if I'm wrong but the R46/R68 do not have any smoke alarms to speak of onboard (with the amount of people smoking on trains nowadays I have not once heard a smoke alarm go off), and are arguably far more dangerous death traps because the storm doors are LOCKED and do not always open in emergencies. Why are the R46/R68 ever allowed to run if they are that unsafe, but the R211T's are somehow a safety hazard??

First, we literally do not have the rolling stock to sideline the 75-footers. Second, the R211Ts make it easier for smoke to travel between cars within sets.

Why are we suddenly so concerned with smoke when we have old 75 footers running in service with no smoke alarms and no emergency intercoms/safety mechanisms?

I tried to give you a chance (against my better judgment), but you're just too far up your own ass.

Again, because you CAN'T isolate (lock out) a single car in a 5-car open gangway set. If one car experiences a smoke situation, all 5 cars are then directly affected.

He's full of shit and is damage controlling because they are embarrassed at the fact they didn't think of a fire suppression system  when they were designing the R211T.

It's an Open gangway subway car. If a fire breaks out, The fire would quickly spread to the entire 5 car section. Since CPW express is a very long stretch, They can't run in that section as well as a section in Brooklyn.  Since (MTA) didn't spec these cars to have fire suppression systems, they are restricted in a lot of ways.
