UPDATE ON THE R211S AS OF 2/28/24

R211s in service

R211A: 90 cars, or 9 10-car trains (technically 100 if it weren't for all those issues), all trains currently run on the (A) line

4060-69, pilot, Soon about to reach 1 year of service

4070-74, 4115-19

4075-79, 4105-09

(not sure) 4090-94, 4135-39

4095-99, 4130-34

4110-14, 4120-24

4100-04, 4125-29

4140-44, 4160-64

4145-49, 4165-69

R211T: 20 cars, or 2 10-car trains, all trains currently run on the (C)line

4040-44, 4050-54

4045-49, 4055-59

Total amount of R211s in service: 120 technically, 110 currently

All are at pitkin

Other consists not in service yet and TBD sets

R211A:

4080-84, NIS until further notice

4085-89, NIS until further notice

4150-59, BIT'd a few days ago

4190-99, BIT'd about a week ago

4170-74, tested at BC a few days ago

4175-79, Will most likely connect with 4170-74

4180-84, Literally got delivered yesterday

R211S:

100-104, should see service in a week or 2

Total amount of NIS R211s: 35 technically, 45 currently (not counting the R211S), 40 technically, 50 currently (counting the R211S)

Notes: 4085-89 is at Pitkin as of now. We've been waiting for long enough. Same with 4080-84. I have no idea what sets besides 4180-84 are at CIY. They all moved out.

There are a total of 120 cars in service (4040-4149, 4160-69) technically, but 4080-84 & 4085-89 haven't seen service since October. So right now, there are only 110 cars, ranging from 4040-4079, 4090-4149, and 4160-4169.

There is still a backlog of cars waiting to ship in Lincoln.

Stacked, like a (2) train on weekends (personal experience)

And which ones?

50- a possible 100 cars. 4200-4300? That’s why they’re trying to get things done. 140 cars are in, with several in service and burn ins.

If all continues to go well with the r211's, the r46's will become a minority of the A fleet by the end of this month.

Hopefully, the C can keep the r179's until option 1. I'm not crazy about the r46's running on the C.

Pitkin should send the r46's to CI or removed them from service (not retire them yet) once more r211's enter service.

A fleet? That’s the IRT. You mean B fleet.
but remember this: You also have R211Ts on the (C) as well. Pitkin will send the R46 cars to CI. The worst performing cars will go, while the best performing cars will be stored in case of emergency

A train fleet. Y'know. It will still be a good amount of the B fleet by the end of the year.

I'm referring to the A train, which currently has 13 r179's (10 car) plus 9 r211's, or 22 NTTs. The A train will most likely be dominated by NTTs by the end of the month if all continues to go well with the r211's, while the r46's becomes the minority of the A train.

I count 10 R211 trains in service in the listing by Ale188 above, with 3 trains in testing, plus another 5 car set was just delivered.  On top of that the R211T trains are on the C.  So yea, it'll be dominated by NTTs.  I was on CPW last week and every C train was an R179 and every A train was either R179 or R211, except the last one I saw which looked like a dinosaur by comparison.

(North) 4195-4199 + 4194-4190 (South) in service as of this morning. Spotted at Canal Street going Northbound at around 11:20AM.

Edit: Something is up with cell service underground, this took about 10 minutes to post. The above post somehow made it first.

Nice. I wasn't expecting this. That would be the 13th train in service (that's including the 4080s). But I've seen nothing with 4140-44 and 4160-64 tbh. I'm worrying that set might be a false report.

Can someone post photos to make sure 4140 and 4160 being in service isn't false?

(North) 4160-4164 + 4140-4144 (South)

Spotted by myself yesterday several times to and from Far Rockaway.

Also witnessed 4150-4159 burn-in testing yesterday as well.

The reason you didn’t see it because many META accounts were frozen. So nobody got the message. But I followed the guys who were up & down on 8th Ave today

Believe what you want, that set has been in service since the 27th from 3 pm.
