D Train R68 Question

The only time will a R160 run on the (D) is if...

A (N) running via West End is signed up as a (D) to avoid confusion.

If a issue happens at 168th St that forces (C) trains to go up to 205th and come back down as (D)'s.

Basically and delay that results in a fleet going over the (D), it has a 50/50 chance that it will use that fleet for that run.

Just like the R160 (B) train to 2nd Avenue that Daniel caught a few months ago.

1. That R160 (B) Train I caught was last year.

2. It was because of extra service needed for the Central Park concert not an emergency reroute.

Interesting fact however was that the R68, and R68A's were supposed to come with new technology. However the (MTA) was so shocked by the issues they encountered with the R44, and R46's that they went with the most archaic technology that they could come with. If you ever wanted a look at what the R68, and R68A's were supposed to look like they would have looked like the trains that runs on the Tren Urbano Metro in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Tren_Urbano_in_Bayam%C3%B3n_%28Puerto_Ri

Though the (MTA) is about to overhaul the R68, and R68A's so they will come with some new technology soon.

what new technology does the MTA want to install to the R68/A's?

Last I heard, that project was cancelled.

that stinks but it makes sense. the (D) and (B) run just fine with the R68/As the way they are. No real need to upgrade aside from as a customer courtesy as far as I can tell.

When the R68As came in they were only on the (D) Train along with R68 2500-2591. In 1995 the (D) Train ended up receiving R68 2592-2791 from CIY while CIY got all of the R68As.

As for the OP, the (D) Train was originally supposed to get part of the R160 order (180 Cars) when they were coming in but Concourse Yard didn't have the equipment available to maintain them (Except for the wash).

Don't they give you the tools to maintain them ??
