IRT Bronx Express Posted April 26, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2018 Long story short, I have always wondered if an M7 Limited existed at one point, but to me, it's just a rumor. I mean, it may have been mentioned at a board meeting once, but an official pamphlet, timetable or something would be nice IMO. This is all I could gather from official Manhattan bus maps: EDIT: Damn, I only wanted written content inside the spoilers... lol. 1984, 1987: M15- LTD service in both directions, rush hours only M1/M4/M5/M10/M101 - LTD service, AM rush hours downtown, PM rush hours uptown 1989 v1 (This map depicted the M100 "terminating" at W. 207 St/10th Ave) : M15- LTD service in both directions, rush hours only M1/M4/M5/M10/M101 - LTD service, AM rush hours downtown, PM rush hours uptown 1989 v2 (This map correctly depicted the M100 terminating at Inwood until Sept 1997) : M15- LTD service all times except nights M98- LTD service in both directions, rush hours only M1/M4/M5/M10/M101 - LTD service, AM rush hours downtown, PM rush hours uptown 1990, 1991: Same as above Sept 1991, Apr 1993, Sept 1993, Nov 1993, Aug 1994 (possibly), Feb 1995: M15- LTD service all times except nights M2/M101- LTD service weekdays only M98- LTD service in both directions, rush hours only M1/M4/M5/M10 - LTD service, AM rush hours downtown, PM rush hours uptown Sept 1995 (doomsday cuts): M15- LTD service all times except nights M2- LTD service weekdays and Saturdays only M101- LTD service weekdays only M98- LTD service in both directions, rush hours only M1/M4/M5 - LTD service, AM rush hours downtown, PM rush hours uptown M10- All local service Feb 1996, Sept 1996, April 1997 Same as above Sept 1997: M15- LTD service all times except nights M2- LTD service weekdays and Saturdays only M5/M101- LTD service weekdays only M98- LTD service in both directions, rush hours only M1/M4 - LTD service, AM rush hours downtown, PM rush hours uptown Which leads me to my next question: what if the M10 was actually the bus service that really had LTD service until September 1995 and not the M7? Gotham Bus Co. Posted April 27, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2018 Some time in the 1990s, the M7 had a Limited that lasted only two picks because it wound up saving almost zero time. Meanwhile, the M10 also had a Limited, back when it still ran to World Trade Center with alternate trips to Abingdon Square (plus a peak-only branch to 6th Avenue & 3rd Street). MysteriousBtrain Posted April 27, 2018 Share #3 Posted April 27, 2018 What years were the maps?
IRT Bronx Express Posted April 27, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted April 27, 2018 ^M10 LTD (Feb 1995). M10 all local (Sept 1995). Was the temporary service only a few months? Maybe that's the reason why I'm not finding anything on the official bus maps.
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted April 27, 2018 Share #5 Posted April 27, 2018 IIRC, the M7 had LTD trips in 1993.
Q43LTD Posted April 27, 2018 Share #6 Posted April 27, 2018 I remmeber the M7 being a LTD until 1993, but not the M10. The reason why the M10 lost LTD was, let me guess, the same reason as the M7?
Orion6025 Posted April 27, 2018 Share #7 Posted April 27, 2018 Is there, or was there, ever ridership for an m7 and m10 limited?

Limited-stop service isn't just implemented based on sheer ridership (look at all the SI routes with limiteds). It has more to do with ridership distribution (is ridership concentrated at the major stops, or is it spread out relatively evenly?) as well as the frequency of service on the line (to make sure the local stops still have sufficient service)
