DaTransitMan4608 Posted June 4, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 4, 2014 They need to add another set of gates on top of the existing ones. I say work it out like this. 107, 108, & 11X routes: 200 gates. Hudson & Bergen 120s: 300 gates. Howell 130s and 319: new 400 gates 144, 145, 148, 150s: new 500 gates designed for artics. Oradell 160s, 177, and 320s: new 600 gates. This is just a rough draft. But any feedback is welcome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Orion VII 4 Life Posted June 4, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 4, 2014 NJT should front money to the Port for improvements over there. They're too busy with the WTC to give a damn what happens anywhere else, that's why they had to back down on the improvements at the GWB terminal and LGA Terminal B and eventually hand both off to private developers fully or in partnerships. Either do that at the PABT or have NJT front some money towards renovations, it would be a good investment for the NJ taxpayer considering they're the primary users of the building, because something's gotta change up there. FlashThunder Posted June 4, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 4, 2014 If something doesn't happen there soon, then riot will happen everyday... I mean, how does the line from gate 211 go all the way back to frames bowling alley...? (one example) like seriously... p.s. I guess the 167T/177X riders are not happy at all. One of the glass panel at gate 210 is broken again... this is like 5th time seeing that happen
BZGuy Posted June 4, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 4, 2014 NJT (or any of the carriers that serve the Port) should have to come up with any cash.....not with what they pay for rent. They have been pushing mass transit on folks for years and they had plenty of time to get ready for the crowds and they did nothing. This is the PAs problem not NJT or the private carriers. That's where this whole thing needs to directed to.
pjbr40 Posted June 4, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 4, 2014 When i ride the Academy, their gates is downstairs. I think NjT should use some gates down there. When I have to wait for a bus most of the gates are empty at all times of day. I know some long distance charter run use those gates. The interior definitely need upgrade. i am ready to puke on that red wall. I think some charter gates should merge (i.e. Peter pan have 5 gates and merge to like 3 gates and use electronic sign for what the next bus is heading too. Tokkemon Posted June 4, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 4, 2014 Just tear that monstrosity down and start over. There's no point in trying to "rehabilitate" something that's so broken it isn't fixable. How about building something over the Hudson Yards? Or Penn Station?
BZGuy Posted June 4, 2014 Share #9 Posted June 4, 2014 You can't take gates from anybody. Just because it's not busy when you travel doesn't mean that a company doesn't need all their gates. I know for fact during the rush hour Academy maxes out each and every gate they have. Same thing for Peter Pan and all the other private carriers. The Port needs expansion plain and simple.....the Port Authority's failure to plan for the future should not be laid at the doorsteps of the carriers that use that facility. bobtehpanda Posted June 8, 2014 Share #11 Posted June 8, 2014 They should open up alternate terminals. Aren't there a lot of parking lots and usually unused loading areas by the Javits Center?
