  1. It’s pretty empty that way too even though the mall itself has seen an uptick in patronage with the slight increase in indoor dining, but the Shoppers stop and the P&R are still pretty empty. One of the more interesting differences I found out between the wheelchair doors on Lakeland’s 17000s State buses vs 18000-20000 on NJT Proper, is the wheelchair door opens and closes automatically on The NJT buses, but Lakelands’ (and I suspect the other private carriers) rely on manual muscle power.
  2. Yes it is very disturbing to see P&Rs to the point you’d see more tumbleweeds than cars. Mother’s P&R is a perfect example, so much so that my instructor was able to get me and another student (my co worker at Lakeland) the full complement of wheelchair training. I will say that the Route 23 Transit Center has an (ever so slight) uptick in patronage. Heck, there were more cars parked at my former employer than I could remember in recent times. The 495 XBL finally opening Monday could be a sign (I hope) that things are on the up and up.
  3. Thanks for playing Clippers. Johnny, tell em what they’ve won!!!!!
  4. “Graduated” yesterday and breaking in now. I drove the 17000s for Lakeland so I’m used to the new buses. Other than that they’re brittle as all get out, I like them pretty good
  5. An observation I’ve made about the 161 leaving Paterson: You could give a 4 year old a (blank) piece of paper and a crayon and he/she could scribble the exact path the 161 has to negotiate to get from one side of Market St to the other around I-80.
  6. Don’t count them out yet. This is a temporary stoppage of work due to lack of ridership. They’re hoping it all turns around after Labor Day
  7. With all those road closures on the 190 in Rutherford, even with the pandemic and lack of traffic, you can kiss on time performance goodbye
  8. In the meantime, 77 and some of the 190s are honoring DeCamp tickets....
  9. Those turns trying to get to Broadway Terminal in Paterson 😩. When it comes to double parking and parking on corners, I don’t know what’s worse, Paterson or Manhattan....
  10. A (former) co worker of mine just recently sent a letter to both NJ senators and one (Menendez) wrote back to him to get involved with passing the CERTS (Coronavirus Economic Relief for Transportation Services) Act. It’s supposed to provide $10 billion in aid for Motorcoaches, School Buses and Ferries. Back in July 2, it was referred to the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee which he isn’t part of. We will see how this turns out
  11. As much as I’d like to try my hand with Howell, I live near the Water Gap so that’s a no 😄😄😄
  12. I asked for Wayne since it was (one of) the closest garages to me (I live just under half an hour from the Water Gap). The one that’s actually closer is the Dover garage (formerly PABCO) with the mini NABIs serving Morris County, but I prefer to drive MCIs
  13. Rumor has it there are lots of retirements so I’m hoping for something a little “humane” in spite of my impending (lack of) seniority 🤷🏽‍♂️
  14. The one thing I struggled with the Prospect of working out of Wayne: Paterson (🤮). Not since my days at Community have I had the pleasure of traversing those streets. Four words: Grin and bear it 😄
  15. Well it’s been awhile, due to coronavirus, the subsequent layoff and sickness. But things are looking up for me. Starting August 6, Lakeland’s loss will be NJ Transit’s gain as I will begin training for my new job as a bus operator out of Wayne garage
  16. R110B when it was planned to move the via 6 Ave (🤦‍♂️) in the 90s
  17. A little late to the game here but I was laid off Monday (on my birthday no less 🤦‍♂️)
  18. The Saddle River Retro? What a waste 🤦‍♂️
  19. Transdev workers are ATU. Couple of my coworkers went down supporting them. And yeah, NoVa is up the creek without a paddle
  20. According to a source, Saddle River has stopped operations (a’la Bieber). Hearing no GWB service and State buses are returned to NJ Transit
  21. Well, I’ve heard that Meadowlands Garage is gonna have a new pick (if I make this out correctly) in response to the fact that the American Dream buses are carrying nothing but air for right now.
  22. I very rarely see those cars anymore on the Morristown Line. It’s usually an ALP45DP along with Comet V cars.
