  1. To fix those problems: add cameras on buses to ticket double parkers/people in bus lanes add bus lanes where necessary make the bus more frequent if needed to attract higher ridership get the NYPD to actually follow the rules and not be entitled pricks when it comes to parking rules By cutting these routes back to areas outside of downtown Brooklyn, you've screwed over both people in cars and buses since bus commutes are now longer and car riders stick to cars since there isn't a viable alternative. If you instead had ticketing cameras on buses and other methods to speed the buses up, you would not only make the lives of bus riders easier but you would also encourage people using cars to use the bus.
  2. Mike's Pizza in LIC is a great hole-in-the-wall place (its near 39th on the IIRC). Underground pizza in lower Manhattan is also good.
  3. This isn't the subway... you seem to be forgetting several factors here. 1. Buses are subject to significantly more variation and congestion than subways. People are more or less fine with transferring on the subway since they know that a train will show up provided there are no/few delays and/or G.Os. Buses don't have this luxury given traffic, road construction and their considerably more infrequent service. 2. The elements. Subway stations (even the elevated ones) have some sort of barrier to keep out wind during the winter or have canopies for shade. Bus stops don't always have this and shelters are not always the most sanitary and can sometimes be packed. 3. Stop frequency. Buses stop much more frequently than any other form of transport, so needing to transfer may cause people to simply stop using the bus given that it could be faster to walk on one of the trip legs. Now before you ramble on about stop consolidation and the like, that can only work in flat areas with stops that are lightly or moderately used (buses stopping every few blocks in the Bronx makes sense given topography while doing so in Manhattan just slows buses down). The problem with the subway alternatives is that many stations aren't accessible (so many disabled riders use the bus). Also, interlining isn't as much of a problem on buses since they are using open streets, not tracks in tunnels connected by switches present at only certain points.
  4. Yeah, that’s the biggest issue I came across with this plan... I suppose you could try adding a stop for the at Spring and the at Prince (you could also add a passageway between at Bowery to the at Grand). If all else fails though, I’d probably just extend the up to Essex.
  5. I’m not saying it’s a major priority considering many other stations are inaccessible, but it still seems odd to me to call the complex fully ADA when a major connection isn’t. Also, my solution would be to simply add a gentle ramp starting from the top of the steep one to give a cheap way to add an ADA ramp.
  6. Is there a way to make the IND passageway at 42nd ADA accessible? Seems ridiculous for the complex to be considered ADA accessible when the 8th Av lines don't have an ADA connection to the rest of the complex (especially considering its one of the few convenient places to access transfers to Broadway).
  7. I meant for weekend G.Os specifically (I'd just reroute it to Ditmars or Queensboro). In deinterlining Broadway though, I'd have the run Bay Ridge-Astoria with the at Whitehall (or City Hall lower) as I'd rather have a shorter route deal with QBL-related issues (runtime on the would also decrease and it would get some outdoor air for the A/C on the 46s should they begin to fail).
  8. Imagine what cutting the from QBL would do for reliability... Anyways, it looks as if the has given up too...
  9. Build a new connections between the at Bowery and the at Spring via Broome Street; this gives us a fast way to connect the Jamaica lines to an uptown trunk whilst allowing us to increase capacity QBL and provide express service on Culver. A new tunnel between Fulton local and Whitehall is also built. 168th- Jamaica Center via CPW local, 8th local, and Broadway-Brooklyn express during rush hour peak (all stops before/after Myrtle). Operates all times. BPB- Metropolitan via Concourse local, CPW local, 8th local and Broadway-Brooklyn local. Weekends to 145th; late nights to Essex. Forest Hills- Rockaways via QBL local, 53rd, 8th express and Fulton express. Late nights via local. Forest Hills-Lefferts via QBL local, 53rd, 8th express and Fulton express. Late nights cut back to Euclid. Norwood-Brighton Beach via Concourse express (rush hour peak only), CPW express, 6th express and Brighton express. Operates all times. Inwood- CI via CPW, 6th, and 4th express. cut back to Church Avenue. Late nights to Coney Island. Jamaica Center- Coney Island via QBL express, 63rd, 6th local and Culver express. extended to 18th Av center rerouted to 96th unchanged Astoria- Euclid eliminated Canal-Bay Ridge eliminated Thoughts?
  10. I still find it ridiculous that the Q70 isn’t a free service...
  11. What about via express SB and local NB with the cut back to Jay?
  12. I wouldn't see this being used at stop with high traffic levels, but I could see it at stops that are difficult to add elevators to and/or have low ridership (ex. Courtleyou/Beverly Rd stations and the Rockaways).
  13. So what else do we do? We can't add elevators since you say they are too difficult to add so we have to add something.
  14. Jamaica and the lines to CI too... Also, the fact that they pretty much rebuilt all of Culver and Astoria and didn’t add elevators is also annoying. As for the IND, they could easily add elevators within closed mezzanines (Nostrand would be great). Platforms may be a bit more difficult but manageable.
  15. Can the ’s tracks turn the most amount of trains given the lack of a curve and bumper block? (West End crawls with the bumper, Brighton has a slow curve and Culver is only a little better)
  16. Welcome to the fourms!
  17. Are there any other factors limiting along Broadway? Also, could you maybe add some switches to turn some trains at Astoria Blvd’s center track?
  18. How much TPH could we gain by redoing the Astoria switches?
  19. Why did you post my profile picture?
  20. Am I the only person who thinks that should get R262s? The is packed, sure, but the doesn’t get it any easier (especially with a not-so-great maintenance shop).
