  1. Do you happen to know which R42 set it is?
  2. Jay to Church. You could add a stop at Bergen (with an underpass too so SB riders can catch the ), but considering that the line would already have good Manhattan-bound service (16tph would be my goal) adding an express stop may be unnecessary and may also slow down lower Culver commutes.
  3. Here's a new B div deinterlining plan: (note that new switches would be built between 50th upper and the express tracks) 168th-Lefferts/Rockaways via CPW local, 8th express and Fulton express. Local late nights. BPB-Euclid via Concourse local, CPW local, 8th express and Fulton local. Weekends to 145th; late nights no service. 179th-WTC via Hillside/QBL local, 53rd, and 8th local at all times. Norwood (or BPB) - Brighton Beach via Concourse express (rush hours), CPW express, 6th express and Brighton express. Weekends/late nights via local in Bronx. 207th-CI via CPW express, 6th express and so on. Express on CPW all times. 179th-CI via QBL express, 63rd, 6th local and Culver express. Weekends local in Queens; late nights via on Culver and QBL local. JC-Church via QBL express, 63rd, 6th local and Culver local. Same service pattern at all times. extended to 18th using center track (new switches added). rerouted up 2nd; skips 49th. unchanged. Astoria-Bay Ridge. eliminated. unchanged. runs on "local" tracks between Essex and Chambers. Metropolitan-Bay Ridge. same as . Is there something that can be done about terminal space on Concourse? BPB is a lousy place to turn trains but it's not like you can fit more at Norwood.
  4. Have they raised the limit for the City Hall curve? Trains seem to pass through there much quicker.
  5. Terminating at Essex to me is a poor idea due to it only having a single track. The way I see it you have to options - Bowery (center tracks; new crossover built)- Bay Ridge. operates on outer tracks with in inner. - runs from abakndoned Bowery to Bay Ridge; cut back to Chambers. New connection built between NB express at Chambers and current SB track.
  6. Uh, I don’t know... longer QBL trains, QBL deinterlining and decent service for riders in Brooklyn?
  7. 20 mins to head up CPW?!?! This is why the are infinitely better than the CPW lines will ever be, even considering the 125-59 nonstop. By the way, I know most of the crawling between 59th/125th is a result of flaggers and timers, but how much does equipment play a role? The 46s always crawl (minus the 60th tubes on the and the 68s always seem to slack (minus Brighton).
  8. The RTSs were great buses but they had to go at some point... be grateful now because a lot of the older classic buses (OGs and NGs) may be gone in 5 years. Once those buses are gone would it'll be the end for the buses I knew (since the LFSs were just coming in when I left), but I still will be fine with the new buses (the Excelsiors and C40s are great!)
  9. When they did ESI at 163rd, couldn't they add ADA easily? They demolished the staircase at 163rd so they could have just put in an elevator there and reopened the northern part of the mezzanine (elevators to the platforms could also be done by maybe replacing one of the staircases).
  10. While the R42 numbers don't shock me, how did the 68s do so poorly while the 68As are fine? Also, have the R62s been getting smsed? That's a pretty good increase.
  11. Glad to see the push for more TPH on the , I always found it ridiculous that they didn't look to have 30+ tph given CBTC and high ridership. Hope they add tail tracks at 8th and maybe some turnback ones at Atlantic to faciliate this...
  12. Ridership began to decline again in August 2018... I wonder why 🤨
  13. It was sarcasm with a touch of truth (I always take the over the since all the crazy sh*t always happens on the )
  14. I have the same hopes too given that Byford is around, but I hope he can hold out until Cuomo is out the door...
  15. I'd imagine that even with CBTC and no AWS, the TA would probably still install CBTC on at least the TOMC and Holiday Train if possible... if they have to retrofit work trains with it they might as well do it for the main vintage trains...
  16. I read the proposal and stated that the extension was bad to rule out that part. As for the , we have gone over this about 10 million times. While the cars would get extra mileage from deadheading, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
  17. An extension of the to 179th is a poor idea as it should be removed from QBL entirely. ( to 96, to Astoria, eliminated) An extension of the is also a bad idea as the line doesn’t need to be longer and less reliable.
  18. 1. Chipotle 2. Panera 3. Indikitch 4. Dominos 5. Wendy’s
  19. If the lack of a connection to the is such a problem, then just send the Q35 to Newkirk Plaza via Flatbush and Foster and call it a day...
  20. I think I once was on one like that back in 2012 (I remember getting on at 157th and having a very quick ride to 59th in like 10-15 mins; it could have been 137-96 though)
  21. Here’s a way to improve transfers between the IND and BMT/IRT in Brooklyn: -build a new passageway between Jay St and Borough Hall (you would have to close the platform at Jay though).
  22. My (unpopular) opinion is that ferries should never get a free transfer to the rest of the network. Not only would the agency difference lead to political issues, but they are so heavily subsidized that it would be a disaster for taxpayers. Pretty much everyone who lives near them is also rich enough to pay for two or three fares (the ferry should get a $6.75 fare since it’s a premium service).
