  1. The buses on SI are underwater. https://photos.app.goo.gl/hGgBU22PMho82JeX8.
  2. I think that there should be an offense system for fare evasion. 1st offense - $100 fine. 2nd offense - $500 fine. 3rd offense - $1000 fine and/or up to 1 year in jail. (Farebeating is a misdemeanor crime and should be treated like one.) Talking about poverty, what ever happened to the reduced fare MetroCards for low income residents?
  3. I also was thinking that. The is punishing fare beaters by providing less service so when they get flagged, they'll think twice about fare beating. They should put up notices for riders saying something like, "We're providing less service on this line because of high fare evasion rates. Please pay your fare if you would like to see service restored/increased on this line".
  4. But the thing is that they really don't. If the really used artics to increase capacity, they wouldn't cut service. If you have jam packed 40 footers running every 4 minutes, having 60 footers every 6 minutes is going to be just as crowded because more people are waiting for that bus because of the lower frequency.
  5. I don't agree at all with the S74/78 cuts. This shows how bad local service along Hylan Blvd can get when SBS is added to it. The Stapleton area is also going to suffer as well on Sundays because every mode of transportation is going to run every 30 minutes.
  6. Most of the SBS NGs this morning are being used on the local routes. There's 2 on the S79 but the rest are on the other routes.
  7. No, the final draft is coming in September.
  8. Why doesn't the follow NJT's steps and put a "Standing Room Only" sign up on the express buses when all the seats are taken?
  9. Well more people are going to be taking the S79 and walking on Sundays. Who's idea was it to cut the S78 in half on Sundays? (If anything cut the short turns to Clove Road but not eliminate them entirely.)
  10. But what if the next bus wasn't until a while? Or if it was the last bus of the day? People would be pissed.
  11. The moment I read that I saw 4 Q32 buses bunching on Queens Blvd.
  12. But other limited routes operate non stop or make few stops in one area and then all local stops to the end. I can see why the Q66 might not be called a limited because 21st Street is a small portion of the route, but the Q35 has a much larger limited stop portion.
  13. Why are some local routes that have limited stop portions considered local routes? I'm thinking of the Q35, which runs limited in Brooklyn and the Q66, which makes limited stops along 21st Street.
  14. I've made some edits. Map Service Guide In my edits the S94 is the route going to CSI. It would run weekdays, providing limited service along the S44 route and eliminating the need for the S49. The S44 goes to Bayonne to provide 7-day service to Bayonne from SI since the S89 only runs on weekdays (and doesn't even go to Bayonne). I remember someone saying in the past that the S89 should be a shuttle off-peak from Bayonne to the North Sore, but the S44 has more coverage and will have more ridership than a shuttle route. The S44/52 routings has also been changed. Remember that the S77 would also serve the Arthur Kill Train Station as well. Also with your set-up, riders from eastern Tottenville don't have a one-seat ride to the Bricktown Mall and those people do make up a portion of the ridership to the Bricktown Mall. Fair enough., However, the S67 should just be local and bypass the Grymes Hill area during peak-hours. The reason to this is because neither the S61 or 62 would be running during peak hours so in order to keep local service along Victory from Forest to Clove and to have an equal amount of local and limited routes, the S67 should become local. Maybe some weekday S66 trips could go to the teleport. I've edited the whole south shore for better connectivity. Here are some highlights. 1. Some S78 trips during the day would be extended to Rossville via Huguenot Ave, replacing the S75, @B35 via Church's idea. 2. The S56 terminates at SI Hospital South and runs via Arthur Kill Road - Rossville Ave instead of Woodrow road to get to Foster Road. Runs 7-days a week now. 3. S73/74 runs down Woodrow Road instead of Arthur Kill Road. 4. S72 runs in-between The Bricktown Mall and the ETC via Arthur Kill Road. Runs weekdays every 30-60 minutes.
  15. So the SIM2 had an average of almost 600 weekend riders and got cut. SMH. That's more riders than the X28 on weekends. Bus had a 4.4% increase on express bus ridership. That's impressive!
  16. 4261 and 4268 leaving YUK, (guessing they're headed towards MV). Saw them in the BBT just now.
  17. I hope it is a photoshopped photo but it damn looks near perfect (I have not used photoshop in more than 5 years). It's probably photoshopped, there's no words on the logo, the MV logo says "Manhattanville Depot" right across it.
  18. That was a mistake, it was on the S57 on that day but I realized it was a loan.
  19. The S89 gets a pass for 2018 due to all of that Bayonne Bridge work which added more time to the trips, which detoured ridership, with the work on the Bayonne Bridge complete, ridership should increase this year. I do believe that increased fare evasion is a major part of the ridership decreases shown because if the B/O doesn't click F5 for every farebeater, they won't be counted as a rider. B/Os try their best to count every farebeater but if you pull up to a stop and 30 people farebeat, that could be hard to count, especially if they are entering through the rear door. Fare evasion was at 25% before the crackdown began and I doubt that the B/Os counted everyone so that's probably why the decreases are more drastic than they actually are. Hopefully the farebeaters will learn there lesson when their service is cut. Some routes also have a hard time when it comes to reliability. S44 buses tend to bunch all day. The S79 bunches in threes and fours. The S78 is always delayed. These are issues that also detour ridership.
