  1. I've made some edits to the proposal: Map Service Guide Key Changes: The S40/90 has an Elizabeth branch, which can give People in Elizabeth a cheaper ride to Manhattan for just $2.75 via. the S40/90 and the ferry. The S48 Elizabeth branch was eliminated and those trips now go to Arlington. The S44 terminates at 8th Street instead of 34th Street in Bayonne.
  2. Happens all the time on the express bus. Like I said before, they don't have protection but they still stop farebeaters.
  3. Not really the B/Os press F5 for farebeating. So they are counting farebeaters.
  4. Fine, then service must be cut. The looses over $200 million dollars each year because some people don't want to pay the fare. They pay or get out. If they don't get out then the cops are called and they handle it. The B/O just has to say "I'm not moving this bus until you pay the fare" and they would either pay or forced out by the cops/riders. Either that or the punishes high fare beating routes with cuts and when they start to pay, then the service will be returned to normal levels. People need to learn that the doesn't provide service for free. If no action is taken, people will just keep on moving. I know in Russia, buses have turnstiles on them to combat farebeating.
  5. I'm not sure how much ridership the S48 gets along South Ave since the S40 is also there and is much quicker, ferry wise, if ridership is low in that area people can always transfer form the S40/S46 to the S48. For the south shore, I attempted to make the routes straighter and more direct, which attracts ridership. The S56 could take Arthur Kill - Arden - Woodrow like it does today instead of going straight down Woodrow if needed. Thinking of what you said early, a new route could go from the south shore via. Arden to Jersey Gardens but i'm not sure if that would be overdoing it for the south shore (since most people drive down there). The S77 runs from New Dorp to Bricktown so Tottenville riders still have access to Bricktown. You could extend the S73 to Tottenville if money permits though but I wouldn't terminate the S77 in Tottenville since other south shore riders along Hylan use the route to go to the Bricktown Mall as well. The S52 is one of the most meandering routes in the City, so shortening it and making it more direct would attract more ridership. The Area around Arnold street are less than a 5 minute walk from the S44 and the redesigned S42 as well. Maybe some short turn trips to Arnold Street can do during peak hours. The S67 would be made by converting existing peak S61/62 trips, so that's why it operates rush hours only. The reason why I disagree with moving the S57 to Jewett is because the S57 gets a lot of ridership along Decker and Willowbrook/Watchouge. Especially from school kids using the route to get to the Schools in the New Dorp area. In fact, the bus is usually SRO on the early morning trips to New Dorp by the time it gets to Willowbrook/Forest. I'll comment on your proposal later.
  6. Guess the decided that they don't run the SBS NG's out of Yukon on weekends. The S79 SBS is all LFS this weekend and only 1 NG (4054) touched that route last Sunday.
  7. I'm pretty sure these politicians would be happy if there was no public transit in NYC. Everyone just drives.
  8. 8303 back in service from the crash that happened a couple of months ago.
  9. SI is in the background since I see a sign for Fingerboard road. I'm pretty sure this was photoshopped.
  10. I've haven't seen any of the new CA buses out yet. Are they untrackable?
  11. The buses should depart 5-10 minutes earlier to allow a leeway with the connecting ferry.
  12. Maybe if people started to pay the fare, the B/O's would actually care about making the ferry. I've heard of cops pulling people off the bus at the ferry if they didn't pay the fare but no where else on the Island. And since it's summer more kids aren't going to pay the fare because they don't have Student Cards. The local B/O's have to be like the express B/O's, "pay your fare or get out!" And the express B/O's don't even have protection like the locals do.
  13. On weekends it's worse. If you get on a bus that's due at the ferry 3-5 minutes before the ferry leaves, forget it. 9/10 times the bus is late and you will just miss the ferry, meaning another half-hour wait for the next one. That's why I enjoy the express bus. You can get to Downtown Manhattan form Port Richmond in 45 minutes to an hour while the Ferry, it takes an hour and a half.
  14. I know this thread is old but i'm not sure if I should make a new thread on SI routes so i'll post it here. After hearing your criticism on my proposals last year, I've decide to make a whole new redesign for Staten Island. I'll love to hear your opinion on this redesign proposal. SI Route Map SI Bus Service Guide and Comments
  15. I remember seeing images of some 3xxx MCI buses on SI which were loned from MTA Bus.
  16. Yes they can and they are doing it right now. The NGs from SI to Manhattan and the OGs from Manhattan to Queens (MTA Bus) are a few of the recent transfers.
  17. The 6:00 PM S86 trip was basically converted into an S76 trip which seems stupid because the 6:03 PM S76 Short turn still exists. The 6:03 PM trip is probably going to be carrying air most days now.
  18. The schedules still say that they run every hour overnight.
  19. Another solution is to place bathrooms at bus terminals without access to a 24/7 bathroom nearby. The layover area at Hylan/Richmond has a porta potty set there.
  20. Since tomorrow is July 4th I was thinking that the should run more express bus service to SI as well as more S53, S79 SBS and special S93 LTD service between the hours of 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM because the SI Ferry isn't running during those hours. Those buses are going to be packed tomorrow evening.
  21. Remember, if anything, some 2015 LFS buses can be transferred to Yukon from Castleton. I'll like to see the new buses on routes other than the Yukon routes on SI.
  22. Will that mean that 2015 lfs buses will be transferred to Yukon. Also will the S79 SBS using local fleet for now on? (I also wouldn't be surprised if bike racks are installed on them as well.)
