Not sure if this has been answered anywhere but does anyone know why the 128 uses buses from Howell? It just seems weird for a relatively short route out of PABT to use buses from a garage 60 miles away. Maybe Howell buses running to PABT (e.g. 139) switch to 128 after arriving at PABT? Or maybe they want CNG buses on the 128? Always wondered this as none of the other routes local to the Hudson county area use buses from Howell.

That Blvd East corridor is heavy. In addition to the 128, you got the 165/166/168 there and (pre-pandemic of course) you still would have full buses during peak periods. They need any type of capacity they can get their hands on for that line, Howell has 45' MCIs, and the line is basically a hop and skip from the Port.

It looks like 20803, 20804(?), 20809 and 20811(?) are at Hilton Garage now. 20803 was on the 13 a couple of days ago and 20809 was on the 39.

Hilton's Neos are in the process of being shifted to Big Tree and Fairview, while the ones deemed irreparable are being scrapped. Which means the artics that were at Meadowlands are now going to Hilton with the exception of 20801.

Ever since they promoted the 126 using articulated buses on their social media pages, Facebook and in the news outlets, plans were shifted for Meadowlands to get the first 25 or so artics. The 123, 125 and 126 will get the artics, but the artics will see service on the other lines. One has popped up on the 122 and 124.

Big Tree has 20805 for training, I think Fairview has two units for training. Fairview from what I heard will be the last to get them. 20802 hasn't seen service in several weeks/months. I think that's going to be the Ferry Street bus.

This makes sense given that Fairview is likely (because we have no idea with this order anymore lol) to get the Suburbans which probably haven't even been built yet.

20803 is now at Meadowlands. Not sure if it’s there for driver training or if it’s slated to be assigned there.

Probably gonna be there for a little while. Wouldn't be surprised if the next few buses get assigned there too.

Might be training, I saw it go into the port a few minutes ago.

Hmm. Wonder if that means 20801 is gonna go back to Hilton, or possibly to Big Tree for training. Given what I've been seeing on the tracker, hopefully up to 20811 could be in Jersey within (best case scenario) a matter of weeks at the very least. Although my hopes ain't too high given the current circumstances.

We have been seeing more numbers tracking albeit at the 0-0 coordinates, namely 20808 and I also heard 20809 tracking there too. 20803 is still at the CMF, and I don't know for sure where any of the others are. 20801 seems to be at the Ferry Street bus facility.

Those may still be out in Minnesota getting their final touches before delivery. Last time 20805 was tracking it was still at the facility.

Hopefully they can get the rest here before the end of the month given that NJT is looking to decommission what I assume to be all of Hilton's Neoplans.

Are the 11C and 20/84 even running now (or were they before the pandemic?)

    Any insight @Cait Sith @DCTransitFilms @Future ENY OP @go25 @46Dover @553 Bridgeton @njbus86?

    Yo.....

Stop. Tagging. All. These. People. In. Your. Posts. You don't need to tag them all, hell you don't need to tag anybody. Someone may reply to you eventually. But this habit of tagging umpteen people to get them to reply is frowned upon and it's not gonna get you the answers you're hoping for. I'm not tryna play wannabe-mod here but you gotta reign that in.

Now, about Saddle River, no these routes stopped running months ago.

Anniston is building (and has finished, I believe) the current NYC order of New Flyer XD60's.... The Pembina plant is strategic for MCI as it's very close to their headquarters in Winnipeg. I don't foresee MCI going down there to build buses.

Meanwhile I think we are in a holding pattern with the new buses. Nothing's been delivered of late, 20044-20050 are sitting in the CMF, 20051 is apparently still at Allison, and 20052-20053 are supposedly on the property someplace. Whole lot of buses sitting in the parking lot in Pembina as well.

20054 arrived at Allison this morning apparently.

My guess is that NJT isn't delivering buses from CMF because they may not have the manpower to do so right now with everything going. Although it could very well be another reason.

I'm obviously late to the party, but when did NJT roll out with the 2xxxx numbered MCI's? And/or, what garage{s} currently house them?

Not for the specific reason of catching one of them (if it happens, it happens), but I planned on doing some NJT fanning towards the end of month anyway....

They hit the streets almost a month & a half ago if I’m correct. Right now only Wayne (151, 161, 190-199, 324) has them but Ironbound (11x routes sans 119) is up to get them next.

  10. Looks like the XD60s are gonna see service on the 123 & 125 as well. If this article is correct, the rest should be arriving next month.

New, bigger NJ Transit buses coming to help routes ease overcrowding, long waits

For too many commuters, the welcome site of an approaching bus can be followed by disappointment when it is too full and displays the dreaded “next bus” sign.

That will change on six NJ Transit routes that frequently see overcrowding and long lines of people waiting at bus stops. Commuters could start seeing the first of the new articulated buses on the road starting this spring, said Michael P. Kilcoyne, general manager of bus operations.

NJ Transit’s board of directors approved a $19.6 million contract Wednesday night with New Flyer of America to build 25 articulated buses. Those buses are the kind that bend in the middle and are longer than a regular transit bus and move more people.

They should be delivered in a little over a year, said Kevin Corbett, NJ Transit president and CEO.

The first 25 will deployed on “high traffic, heavy volume corridors that gets us increased capacity and reduced overcrowding,” Corbett said.

The articulated buses transport a maximum of 100 people, compared to 56 passenger capacity that a regular 40-foot bus can move, Kilcoyne said.

“It should reduce wait times. We can’t add more buses (to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, but) we can run bigger buses,” he said.

The buses are being purchased with a $17.275 million Federal Transit Administration grant, awarded last November. The remaining $2.4 million is for spare parts and contingency costs.

Those buses will be added to 85 articulated buses that NJ Transit ordered for $65.8 million from New Flyer to replace 16-17 year old buses. The first 25 of those buses are expected to enter service in mid-April on six high volume routes.

They will allow service to be added to these New York commuter routes: 123 Jersey City-Union City, 126 Hoboken, 128 North Bergen Kennedy Boulevard east, 156 Englewood Cliff-Fort Lee, 158 Fort Lee-Edgewater and 159 Fort Lee.

Currently those routes have frequent commuter complaints about overcrowding, full buses that have to pass bus stops and lines of people waiting. The longer buses will especially bring relief to customers in North Hoboken on the 126 route who watch full buses have to pass them by, Kilcoyne said.

The new articulated buses will feature low floors, wheelchair ramps, USB ports, built-in video security systems, better intercom systems, and LED lighting.

Just found on Carfax the next 25 VINs in sequence from 20802 (73011-73035). If these are indeed NJT's buses that would take us to 20827. Like the two demos, these buses are being built in St. Cloud, MN. It's sort of a no brainer as St. Cloud is on the way to Pembina, they can drop off some delivery drivers at New Flyer on the way to MCI.

Not sure if you're able to answer this. but they don't fly the pickup drivers out there to get them do they? If that's the case, this whole Coronavirus hysteria might deter them from flying to MN to pick up the buses.

do they only come out at certain times of the day? and when i track them what routes can i find them on? cause i looked at the 39 or the 13

EDIT found one on the 39 IRVINGTON Bound turning onto Elizabeth ave

From what I've been observing, they've kept 20802 on the 39 only. It hasn't been on the 13 or weekend 70 yet, but that will more than likely change very soon.

If they do the same thing they did with 20801, it could end up on the 107 on an early AM run.

NYC Bus is currently getting their order of 49 XD60's so it may still be a while before we see production NJT units. Meanwhile has anyone seen 20801 lately?

20801 is at CMF last I checked.

Didn't NYC Bus receive all of their XD60s already? I think the only thing they're waiting on are the remaining 6 XE60's.
