  1. You saying all of this bullshit because you want techs on the , Stop it. They can turn trains around at Jay St and at Atlantic ave. And SMEEs can Run on CBTC lines since the block signals will still be there, It's just less signals and more apart. 6th ave is being done because they will have the oldest signals in the system by the time CBTC work would start since they are IND original signals. With Lexington ave CBTC being delayed, Those R142s might retire instead of being converted either half or the whole fleet.
  2. I see the R262 order being pushed back since Lexington CBTC is pushed back. The R62/62A fleet are still in decent shape so they can last up to 50 years with good maintenance.
  3. Watch idiots still think that the they won't be funded even though this is proof This puts a smile on my face because the foamers are gonna cope with this news. I still think the R160s will go to CI for the while Jamaica gets their batch of R211s. The , , and will get them. The probably will still go 8 cars
  4. Some of these comments are on here just make me laugh. The "Oh no one will return to office work" Virginia likes to say hello (Governor lied and is making people go back to office work.) Yeah it won't be like pre pandemic but It's not as bad as you guys make it out to be. Y'all said the same shit back in 2010 when they did the cuts. "oh ridership isn't gonna grow" and then within a year areas in north Brooklyn shot up in ridership. You can't predict the future because shit changes. Saying that getting new subway cars aren't a priority is a dumb argument. If the R32s were still running, You guys wouldn't say that. Plus the R211s are pretty much paid for and option order I seems like a lock according to the latest update. These guys lack common sense.
  5. They run on the non stop. I hope eventually they fix the CBTC compatibility issues by allowing other 8 car CBTC equipped trains to run on the so this way at least 40% of the R143 fleet can be for rush hour service. Use them like they did the R32s back in 2020.
  6. It's probably the R46s. I seen a picture of one of the light fixtures on the floor a few days ago.
  7. Kawasaki isn't at fault for those 7000s. It all depends on how these railcars are spec'ed. If Kawasaki was so bad, The R160Bs would be unreliable. The R160's continue to be the most reliable fleet in the B division. Washington Metros railcars are mostly lightweight cars, These 7000 are built with stainless steel and are much heavier than the former cars they replaced. There's going to be problems. M9's are just coming in slow due to supply constraints and labor shortage.
  8. It wouldn't surprise me if they stick with the summer date even tough they said that the 30 day in passenger test might be delayed until fall.
  9. Phase I and Phase II cars are a mix of cars. He was referring to when the Phase II's were rebuilt which was after the Phase I's
  10. Edit: CI has 500 which is 5754 and 501 is 6169 on the
  11. They are not the oldest cars. The has some the oldest R46. When the R46s were renumbered, They were mixed up. The only cars that didn't really get mixed up are the A-A sets which are the newest cars. 12. The Base order R211As will not go to Queens Blvd, The 20 R211Ts COULD go to Jamaica for testing and to get the yard and riders familiar with the fleet after its done testing across the B division. It wouldn't make any sense to put the R211s on Queens Blvd first when they should make sure they test them correctly when it comes to CBTC to make sure they don't have any issues. They'll probably test the pilot set in queens for CBTC anyway before they also test CBTC on 8th ave but now that's delayed (8th ave CBTC). The Reason people bring up the is because 8th ave CBTC will start at 59th CC. Also The could get rerouted, GO's and Yankee Specials use 8th ave. So in order to avoid any mess with non CBTC equipment running in CBTC territory in the middle of peak hours, Its better just to give both the tech trains. This will happen when Option Order I takes place. would probably get a new fleet while Jamaica gets the 2nd half of Option I to push out the R160s to CI for the and whatever is left for the . So either way, trains will get tech trains. The R46s out of pitkin are going to either get scrapped or go to CI while CI pushes their out first.
  13. Yeah, Usually Jamaica would store a small chunk of their fleet since school is out during the summer. So instead of the buses just sitting, They are being used at QV so I doubt they'll put QV stickers on them.
  14. This is all in the MTA capital program, Its stupid. They want to do it between Astoria and 57th and 7th.
  15. Concourse only stores trains, NOT maintain them. Coney Island Maintains the fleet. It would make sense to have the share a fleet of tech trains since Astoria is back on the table for CBTC. Go back a few posts and it's explained why Concourse can't handle the and together. It was only rumored that the was moving to Concourse but that's put to bed now that Astoria will also get CBTC in the future. By the time Astoria CBTC starts, It's likely the R68 replacements will be finalized or will start coming in. This is why i said it makes sense for CI to get the R160s back.
  16. Since now all of those R160s can run on the , The Spare factor for the wouldn't be reduced, The can use just about anything that isn't used on the lines right now. So They can reduce the spares slightly. Before the had a dedicated R160 fleet with a decent spare factor. The had its own group of R160s with the R179s and the R143 spares to go along with it. Now that isn't the case since the can now use all of the R160A-1 fleet with the using 8313-8376 only (when they aren't used on the other lines). So they can slightly decrease the spare factor by 3-4 sets (24-32 cars).
  17. Those r160s were restricted to the line up until this point. They must have figured a way to use them on other CBTC routes. This means they can use the R143s on the as well since the those 64 R160s have the same cbtc as the 64 R160s. They Must have finally figured a way to run them on other CBTC routes which makes sense. This now make the entire ENY R160 fleet more flexible. This could also mean the r143s can finally run on the again. This also means that some R179s could go back to 207th for the to push out the R46s to increase pitkin's R46 spare factor with an additional 3-4 R46s.
  18. The reason the R46s are not preforming well is because they retired the R32s when they were there to bridge the gap. Now that they are gone and the R46s are on the , Spare factor took a hit. then the R46s going to Coney is another hit because they run 24/7 on the lines with the R68s. The at least have the R179s but that's barely enough since its only 130 cars and 100 cars are used out of that 130. R32s even though they had their issues were retired due to politics. If the R211s weren't delayed again and they started in service next month, This would be a non issue. The R32s were on reserve until those R211s touched property, Once that happened got too confident and decided to officially retire the R32s and not train new hires on them. Now with these delays and everything else, They are looking really really dumb right now since they have to figure out how to keep the R46s reliable and worry about the SI R44s which are shot to shit.
  19. Jamaica stores cars on the express tracks between 75th ave and Union Turnpike Northbound track for the , Southbound Union to 75th for the . Lower Level middle tracks for the between the yard lead and east of 71st. Between Van Wyck Blvd and Parsons Blvd and east of Parsons to 169th st northbound track for the . 169th st to Parsons Blvd southbound for the . The holds a total of 60 cars in the back of Jamaica center lay up tracks (30 each track) The holds cars in the back of 179th st lay up.
  20. I have brought up things about the supply issues, I brought it up more on facebook than on here. But got too confident and now they are in a situation where they have to figure out how to keep the reliability of the R46s up instead of down. They Should have never decided to retire the R32s UNTIL the first R211 hits revenue service. Now the 30 day test is pushed back until November. The Labor issues makes this even worse because now these cars will come in very very slow. they expected 40 cars per month and now they expect only 20 per month due to the ongoing issues. 8th ave CBTC is pretty much pushed back because they don't have enough equipment to make the entire lines 100% tech trains by 2024 due to the delays. want to go forward with the 640 Option I (Probably funded by the money they got from the feds) Base order is paid for already. They want to ensure the cars are worthy before they run it in revenue service is why they pushed the 30 day test back.
  21. yeah 9963-60/9950-9948 was also on the . The only used 8377-8612 while 8613-8652/9943-9974 was mainly for the up until last week.
  22. From the daily news Source: https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/ny-subway-lirr-train-cars-kawasaki-labor-nebraska-20220627-ozyvn5kssjgjpbeb7i7m42ms3a-story.html?fbclid=IwAR2zOESNGcCzvDsZ1xMlBOw9M-xKzqnV6h34GpvUpky8bl7KSWaR7oinCb0 Labor shortages and mismanagement at a Nebraska plant mean New York transit riders will have a longer wait for new train cars, MTA officials warned Monday. The new Kawasaki cars are set to replace aging ones on the subway and Long Island Rail Road — but delivery is running at least 17 months late. Transit officials said the workers who build them keep quitting. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board in 2018 inked a $1.75 billion contract with Kawasaki for 535 modern subway cars, called R211s, that are needed to replace ones dating back to the 1970s. They were supposed to hit the tracks in July 2023, but ongoing problems have pushed their arrival to at least January 2025 — and an MTA consultant said delivery is at risk of slipping another nine months. Kawasaki is also behind schedule on a $734 million contract to deliver 202 new cars for the LIRR. Those new cars will replace old ones from the 1980s — and are needed to run the agency’s incoming East Side Access service intended to bring LIRR service into a new station beneath Grand Central Terminal by December. MTA officials said 132 of the new LIRR cars, dubbed M-9s, have been delivered. The rest are also 17 months behind schedule; officials said the last of them won’t arrive until September 2023. MTA officials previously pinned delays to the deliveries on supply chain issues sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic. On Monday they pointed to a labor catastrophe at Kawasaki’s plant in Lincoln, Neb., as cause for concern. “The people that would work, they would show up for a week, and then they would disappear,” LIRR head of rolling stock Jim Allen said during an MTA committee meeting. “That started a real systemic problem at Lincoln.” Siu Ling Ko, chief mechanical officer for NYC Transit, said Kawasaki every month was losing about 45 employees who build subway cars in Nebraska — a high turnover rate for an operation of about 430 people. Joseph Devito, the MTA’s independent engineering consultant, said Kawasaki’s struggle to retain workers began before the pandemic. The train cars the MTA buys from Kawasaki are mostly built in Nebraska, but the final touches are put on at the company’s plant in Yonkers. Neither are unionized. The shoddy oversight by Kawasaki managers has forced the MTA to babysit the company, Allen said. “Unfortunately we have found that Kawasaki requires constant oversight and supervision over their work by the railroad,” he said. A Kawasaki executive did not immediately respond to a request for comment. MTA officials said the delays with the LIRR cars won’t affect the agency’s plans to launch East Side Access in December. But delays to the new subway cars mean longer waits for upgrades to the outdated signaling systems on the A line. The technology on the new cars are needed to run communications-based train control, which uses computers to automatically drive subway trains. Contractors have begun to install the technology between the Columbus Circle and High St. stations on the A, C and E lines. MTA chief development officer Jamie Torres-Springer said the new signals will be running on the local tracks along that stretch by 2025 — but riders will have to wait longer for smoother commutes on the express tracks that serve the A line. Despite the problems, MTA officials said they still plan to order another 640 new subway cars from Kawasaki later this year. Transit officials said it’s necessary because only two companies — Kawasaki and Alstom — sell subway cars to the MTA. “The universe of competent, qualified car builders that are in the U.S. are down to two. We’re all very mindful of some of those consequences,” said MTA chairman Janno Lieber. “What we’re trying to do is help Kawasaki get back on the straight and narrow.”
  23. Those R179s are staying, They are in the process of getting CBTC kits installed. The only thing that would happen is pitkin's 130 cars move to 207th st yard to bump out the 8 car units to ENY if they are still going with that plan.
  24. always had a spare factor, It just grew and now they can use any R160A-1 from 8377-8652,9943-9974. If they wanted to they could send the about 3-4 R179 sets and they'll still be fine. By them doing this they can reduce their spare factor a bit since the can use anything.
  25. CI will probably not even get the R211s. They'll probably get the R160s back which would make more sense.
