"da boys be mobbin' in Flatbush"

But for real thou, on Church from Kings Hwy to E18th there wouldn't be about three blocks without an officer on post. Sometimes you'd see them in groups of about seven (going to their post I guess?)

A decent number of them are women too... And a few of the women are short at that... Who the hells gonna take them seriously?

Hey some of them can arrest me...if you know what I mean lol

A buddy of mine works the beat over there around Church Av.... Different spots wherever they feel like there are hot spots to keep things civilized...

As Sid the sloth from "Ice Age" once said "Humans are disgusting". Somebody threw a wet piece of toilet paper over the wall of a bathroom stall (it almost hit me. I don't even want to think about what it was wet with :o ), and then a minute later, I see pee running down the walls and onto the floor. I swear, the evolutionary clock is ticking backwards......

Would you rather have seen an old man attempt to defacate in a urinal, as I witnessed today at the local Greyhound?

You know the human race is screwed when people can't even urinate or defacate properly. I'd hate to see their bathroom at home.

That is why I don't use public bathrooms or bathrooms at school.....

Well, I try to avoid them, but if it looks reasonably clean, I'll make it quick and go. My school has a bathroom on both the first and third floor, and the first floor one is disgusting, but the third floor one is alright.

And wow, why hasn't it occurred to me that there are Peruvian Day Parades? The thing is that they're out in NJ (Paterson, Harrison, & Elizabeth), rather than in NYC. They were all in the summer (since our independence day was July 28th). Why it hadn't occurred to me to look for any celebrations is beyond me. facepalm.gif

I recall there was one in Brooklyn at one point, but I am possibly mistaken. I personally don't partake in any events that are reflective of my ethnic backround, as they are usually just events that you get shit-faced at.

This whole Lindsay Lohan assault case is BS.

Seriously, your'e famous, people are going to take pictures of you. Just because one random person wants to show his friends he met Lindsay Lohan, doesn't give you the right to take his personal belongings.'

(For those of you who don't know, someone took a picture of her (it wasn't even anything inappropriate), and she said that the guy had to delete the photo, and when he said no, she snatched the camera out of his hands, and he fought her trying to get it back, and now she's pressing "assault" charges against the guy.)

A hiker got lost in the woods. After wandering for days, exhausted and starving, she was thrilled to see a forest ranger coming towards her. "Thank goodness," the hiker exclaimed. "I've been lost for three days, and things were starting to look bleak!"

"Three days? Why, that's nothing!" scoffed the ranger. "I've been lost for four weeks!"

The pride of Long Island! Next to her we have:

1) The LI Lolita, Amy Fisher, who shot her lover's wife 20 years back. Went into porn, ended up in jail last decade, and is in rehab.

2) Taking Back Sunday. The Amityville Horror is a goddamned episode of Sesame Street compared to the shitty music they make.

3) Criss Angel. Magicians never reveal their secrets, but I found a video of him in some crappy Motley Crue ripoff band in the late '80s... sad thing is he was better as an off-key musician than he is now as a "magician." And that's saying a lot.

Everyone else is either part of some crappy band like TBS or moved out of LI. I know Public Enemy and Pat Benatar are from here but not a lot of people remember and LI hasn't exactly produced anyone famous in recent years.

I just found out there's a "Smurf Village" at Utica & Fulton in Brooklyn.

I remember them houses...they aren't like the projects in the area like Breevort over on Ralph and Marion, or like Kingsborough Walk up on Buffalo and Bergen. Its like a miniature version of the projects so that's how it got its name.

Good times in high school lol

I just found out why there's a whole line of people standing along Grandview Avenue every day: they're waiting to take their road test at a driving school over there.

The interesting thing is that for some reason, it's mostly Asians waiting to take the driving test, even though there there aren't a whole lot of Asians on Staten Island in general. (In fact, I don't think I saw anybody but Eastern Asians when I passed by today).

In any case, while I was searching, I came across a few old threads. I didn't want to bump them, so I might as well respond here (even though one of the members is long gone. LOL)

From this post:

It wasn't meant to be racist, but let's be honest: the only minority areas in Staten Island are Port Richmond and Stapleton, and those areas aren't the best. There's no black or Hispanic middle class areas on Staten Island.

There are waaaaay more minority areas than Port Richmond & Stapleton. As for middle class areas, well, Elm Park south of the railroad tracks has a median income of about $65,000, so that's easily middle class. The part of Mariners' Harbor that borders it has a median income of $56,000, so you could consider that middle class. Graniteville has a median income of about $61,000, so that's middle class. Ward Hill/Stapleton Heights has a median income of $58,000, so that's middle class. The southern part of Port Richmond has a median income of about $50,000 - $60,000, so that's middle class. You can't really consider those areas "Black" or "Hispanic" areas, because they're mixed with Blacks, Hispanics, and Whites (Hispanics tend to outnumber Whites & Blacks, but it's not by a huge margin), but they are areas where a "person of color" could live a nice life.

From this post:

Then it's a good thing you didn't go further west to Mariners' Harbor; that area actually is a hellhole (where the projects are). But everywhere has hellholes (in Nassau County, it's parts of Hempstead Village and Roosevelt; along Jerusalem Avenue, it isn't exactly pretty either in stretches. In Suffolk, the real hellhole is Coram, also sex offender central.

Walk down Grove Avenue and then get back to me about Mariners' Harbor being worse (and while you're at it, you can check out the Tower Hill station ;) ). The PJs generate some crime, but the northern part of Port Richmond is a higher-crime area, and the area surrounding the PJs is fairly quiet, especially if you go a block or two away.

Yeah, she's from LI... but her mom likes like a mile away from me next to Old Mill Road school...

Just another stain on <insert town here> history

Their ads are also lame. Alf and 'cheetah express'? lol!

Optimum is f-ing annoying!! They literally harass you flooding your mailbox with unsolicited mailings about their "great" service. I wish there was a way I could go after them for harassment because they clog up my mailbox and claim that they have no way of stopping the mailings. Talk about being full of it...

Omg, ever since I switched to Fios last year, Optimum has been harassing me non stop about switching back. They keep saying they'll offer to pay for my cancelation fees with Fios. They don't know when to take no for an answer and just go away. I'll think about it after my 2 yr trial with Fios is done. But so far why would I want to give up a package where I have practically all the premium movie channels for free during this time? No thanks CV, I'll stick with what I have now and not worry about down time on the internet late at night or during one week some years back.
