Electronic and Static Subway-Related Signs

I have a question and a request:

Will the R160 style FIND's still be available?

Oh, I'm guessing the hard part about making the rollsigns for the first time is developing the template.

Request: R42 Interior Rollsign:

Bullet:

(V) (Blue)

Reading 1:

145 Street, Manhattan

Reading 2:

Springfield Blvd, Qns

Excellent job with the R110B FINDs, Lance, I could surely see something like that being incorporated back in the day.

Yes, everything on the first page, which includes the FINDs, is still available, along with anything he decides to add along the way. Who knows what is next, maybe some service change posters like the ones Amtrak7 was making.

Yes, both versions will be available.

Please be advised that the R110B-style FIND will only display the next ten stops.

Oh, quick note about interior signs!

If you want them to be realistic, then put a short 1 second gap b/w each reading, like on the trains.

Just a suggestion.

I think he makes it longer so people have the time to read it.

No that is how he made the template to begin with. What he has to do is add the bullet and text. Notice how the signs are always the same size. When there are fictional bullets, he has to make them, but I believe that he saves them.

I am sure if he wanted he could make the template smaller, but I like the way it looks.

@Threxxbus: The readings' cycle times are based on what I see the actual displays do. The only displays that blank out between readings are the ones on the standard R142s. The rest of them cycle through without blanking out.

@trainguy97: I used to make the FINDs about the size they appear in your signature, but I didn't like it because it was too small in my opinion, hence their current size.

EDIT: I almost forgot the actual reason why I posted in thread in the first place today. -_-

@Bracamonte: I remember that you asked a few pages ago about how to make the R46 displays. Well, here are the blank templates for the R46, both the exterior and interior:

blankR46exterior.gif

blankR46interior.gif

And here's the font I've been using for them:

http://fontstruct.co.../show/nycta_r46

I finally got around to finishing the full font. That's part of the reason why it took so long to answer your query. As for making the actual signs, you can use any image program like MS Paint, Paint.NET or something along those lines. You can easily animate them online or offline with any jpeg or png to gif program for free. Just Google it. Hopefully that helps.

Can you change the name of South 4th Street in both of these to South 4th Street-Broadway? Hope it's not too much...

  • 2 weeks later...

You didn't need to rage quit on me, it was just a question.

I am sorry for this unnecessary post, but he was not so called "rage quitting" on you, but he was simply stating that you need to let him take his time over the summer. Summer is really a time to relax, and trust me, when I go to the Caribbean, I will be at an all time low with the posting. Summer is not time to be on the computer. If I were Lance, I would probably close all the requests until the summer is over.
