MattTrain Posted October 1, 2010 Share #612 Posted October 1, 2010 This is between Avenue X and Neptune Avenue on the Culver Line. I believe there's an entrance to Coney Island Yard to the right.
SubwayGuy Posted October 1, 2010 Share #613 Posted October 1, 2010 hmmmmmmmmmmmm Lets see. Under an IND El, the Culver Viaduct. Between Smith and 4th ave? but i think im wrong. You're correct...about being wrong. This is between Avenue X and Neptune Avenue on the Culver Line. I believe there's an entrance to Coney Island Yard to the right. That's the correct answer. The picture was taken in 1975 roughly by where the bus stop is now at Shell Road and Avenue X. And yes, that's the CIyd entrance on the right. The D Types are running on the old McDonald Avenue surface route, which of course no longer exists.

Thanks for the information about the photo, highly appreciated, just wondering when those surface tracks were removed. Anyways, here's one photo. This is a train by the way. INDman Posted October 1, 2010 Share #616 Posted October 1, 2010 The surface tracks were removed over 20 years ago, sometime in the mid to late 1980's. They were paved over 20 years ago (mostly) but they were removed about 6 to 10 years ago.
