Novabus 5000 Posted March 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2011 Police Cars have become very interesting to me. While most of our members are in New York, what about those in other states. What kind of police cars does your Department Cruise in? For The NYPD, we use: Ford Crown Victoria's Dodge Charger's Ford Fusion's Chevy Impala's Toyota Priuses Ford E-350 Vans (Both Old & New Model) Chevy Express Vans Chevy Tahoes Ford F-550s (Adapted) Westward Go-4 Interceptor's Cushman Scooters And well thats really it....what do you guys have in other states? If so, got any pics?

lilbluefoxie Posted March 19, 2011 Share #7 Posted March 19, 2011 Nassau County has mostly Ford Crown Vics, they had Chevy Impalas but they are mostly gone. They are also known to use Chevy Tahoes and Suburbans and Ford Explorers for other departments, as well as Ford Econoline vans

INDman Posted March 22, 2011 Share #14 Posted March 22, 2011 i feel bad for the cop who gets stuck with those instead of the good cop cars From what I have been told, there actually not that bad. There still not police cars by any means (not pursuit rated or a police package), but considering some of the other sh!t the NYPD has, not the worst. Here are some of the NYPD vehicles. Novabus 5000 Posted March 22, 2011 Author Share #15 Posted March 22, 2011 The Only 2 CARS that are a police package are the Crown Victoria & The Impala. The Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima & The Toyota Prius are only being used under police by the NYPD.
QM1to6Ave Posted March 23, 2011 Share #16 Posted March 23, 2011 Apparently, one complaint with the altimas is that they came with regular seats, and sometimes the cops' guns and holsters get stuck in the material as they get out of the car since it curves up at the sides to be more comfortable. Also, I recently saw a new nypd car, i believe it was an altima, that had a special light bar with a rear facing display that would have "police emergency" scroll across it. I thought it looked pretty stupid. Anyone else seen this?

QM1to6Ave Posted March 24, 2011 Share #18 Posted March 24, 2011 That's the one. Do you know if they are testing it or if it is going to become standard on new orders?
INDman Posted March 24, 2011 Share #19 Posted March 24, 2011 I think it's still only being tested. It's an ablsoulte waste of money. You can't see the damn thing when driving.
