Dafuq? (C) to Broadway El? (Just suspend the (Z) and send (J) trains through the center track...)

For some reason his foamer fantasy is telling him that there are more people who need to travel directly between Broadway Junction to the Upper West Side/West Midtown than people who want to use it for its normal route. Basically it will have the same affect as a (C) train traveling from 168th Street down to West 4th Street, and then running express and making no stops until Broadway Junction, where it will terminate.

At least he isn't closing down the transit museum and angering hundreds of people just to use it as a terminal, or sending the (A)(G)(J) or (Z) to Coney Island. And hey, he's completely screwing over (M) trains riders also for no reason whatsoever even though that line is completely unaffected, but he's sending it down to Broad Street instead of 168th Street where it would serve no purpose!

Because of TSS reaching 1000 posts, the entire population of New York City is partying in the busy streets of Midtown Manhattan! Thus, every in-service track in that area must receive its maximum capacity of 30 TPH. You'd better solve this fast, because the party has already started!

! This is my 1000th post.

Congrats, but god these kind of scenarios are the most unrealistic and annoying of them all.

My solution is just increased service on (A)(B)(C)(D)(E)(F)(N)(Q)(R)(1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7) trains.

What would you do?

The idea here is this:

Those coming from Euclid/points east and those coming from stations near Broadway Junction on the (A) / (C) looking for midtown can still get the (C) at Broadway Junction without clogging up Utica Avenue, where I have the (A) terminating. If the flyover at Broadway Junction from the (L) at Atlantic Avenue went to the center track, I would have actually had the (C) run through service to Rockaway Parkway and have it also double as an (L) replacement between there and Rockaway Parkway (obviously with the Center track in use in both directions in that scenario). (L) riders looking for midtown would also have the (C) in this scenario (albeit with a shuttle bus ride from Atlantic Avenue). This is to prevent overcrowding of the (A) at Utica Avenue by midtown riders who would have the (C), replacing the (J) between Broadway Junction and Essex Street and then the (M) to West 4th before going regular route. Those who normally use the (M) for midtown simply would use the (C) for there, albeit to 8th Avenue instead of 6th or can switch to any of the other 6th Avenue trains at Broadway-Lafayette on the same platform OR for Lex-53rd to the (6) there. For the few specifically looking for 53rd-5th, they can switch to the (E) anywhere between West 4th and 42nd on the same platform.

Again, it's called paying attention, which I would expect riders to do, something that seems to be a lost art.

Yeah, I know it's kind of unrealistic, but it's actually quite an interesting challenge IMO. Your solution wouldn't work, as there aren't enough trains to increase service on every single line. Here's my attempt at solving this:

(A) runs local in Brooklyn

(C) WTC - 168 St

(E) runs via 8 Av Express

(B) 145 St - 34 St

(D) 205 St - 34 St

(D) Coney Island - Atlantic Av

(F) 71 Av - 2 Av

(M) runs via 8 Av Local, terminates at 2 Av

(M) Metropolitan Av - Myrtle Av, every 20 minutes

(G) extended to Coney Island

(N) some trains terminate at Canal St

(Q) trains terminate at 57 St; some downtown trains terminate at Canal St

(Q) shuttle trains run between 57 St and 34 St

(R) some trains extended to 179 St

(1) some trains short-turn at 137 St and 14 St

(2) 241 St - 34 St

(2) shuttle, Hoyt St - Wall St

(3) 148 St - 34 St

(4)(5)(6) runs at full capacity, using some cars from the (2)

Okay, it's not perfect...

NEXT: Due to the table-flip guy breaking out of Rikers, no trains can pass 21st Street-Queensbridge or Queensboro Plaza. Switches near the station also can't be used, meaning (R) trains can't access Queens Blvd.

(E)/(F) Via 8th Ave Local, 53rd St

(Q) To Roosevelt Island

(C) Via 6th Ave Local

(M) To 57th St

(N) To Lexington Ave

(R) Every other train to Roosevelt Island, and Lexington Ave

(7) TS - Hunters Point Ave AND....

THE FOLLOWING DEPENDS ON EXACTLY WHAT SWITCHES CAN'T BE USED

Assuming the express track can be used to turn around...... (7) 33rd St - Flushing

Assuming the express track can't be used to turn around.... (7) Two additional parts; Single tracked shuttle between 33rd St and Woodside, Woodside-Flushing

IF THE EXPRESS TRACK IN ASTORIA CAN BE USED TO TURN AROUND:

(S) 39th Ave - Astoria

If you are too lazy to solve the scenario above,

Here's another one.

All lines except IRT and Eighth and Nassau Street Lines cannot be used south of Delancey

Grand Street

(C) trains run in two section Euclid to York Street and 34th Street to 168th Street.

(E) trains run from Jamaica Center to 34th Street.

(B) trains run in two sections, Brighton Beach to Prospect Park and West 4th to 145th/Bedford Park Blvd.

(D) trains run in two sections Coney Island to Chambers Street on Fulton via Montague.

(J) and (Z) trains run from Bowery to Jamaica Center, not Chambers or Broad.

(F) trains run via 8th Avenue from W4th to Jay Street-Metro Tech.

(M) trains run with a small service boost.

(N) trains run from Coney Island to Pacific Street.

(R) trains run in two sections, 95th Street to Chambers Street and 34th Street to 71st Avenue. (R) trains skip 49th Street as (R) trains run on the express track.

(Q) trains run in two sections, Coney Island to Chambers Street and 34th Street to Astoria.

(2) regular service.

(3) runs only between 148st and Flatbush Av (2).

(4) no service between Altantic Av and Utica Av.

(5) no service between Bowling Green and Flatbush Av.

A single track shuttle will operate between Sutter Av and New Lots Av operating every 24 minutes. Free shuttle buses run between Sutter Av and Franklin Av. Free transfer is allowed to the shuttle and (L) at Junius St.

The Broadway Express tracks are unusable from Canal St to 57 St, and the 6 Av ones are unusable from Grand St to 47/50 Sts. This should not be too hard. Reroute away. I don't care about the TPH, as long as people can get where they are goin.

(B) Trains run in two sections:

.........Bronx to Jay St, via the (C) between 59 St and West 4 St, then via the (F).

.........Whitehall St to Brooklyn, via the (R) between Whitehall St and Dekalb Av.

.....Transfer between sections at Jay St-Metrotech.

(D) Trains run in two sections:

.........Bronx to 34 St/Penn Station, via the (A) between 59 St and 34 St.

.........57 St/7 Av to Brooklyn, via the (N) in Manhattan, every 10 minutes.

.....Transfer between sections at 42 St.

(Q) Trains run via the (R) between Canal St and 57 St.

NEXT

The Broadway Line is unusable between 57 St and Dekalb Av.

Rules:

  • All lines must have same tph to Manhattan as before.

  • Only trains from Astoria can terminate at 57 St.
