Subway - What If?

Here's an idea:

Due to FASTRACK, no trains on the brighton line between Prospect Park and DeKalb Av. The (R) and bypass tracks at DeKalb are available, just not the Brighton tracks.

I think I'll be able to do this without extending the (Z) to who knows where in Brooklyn.

Let's see...

(B) runs via the the (R) from DeKalb to 36th Street, then via the (D) to Coney Island

(Q) runs between Prospect Park and Coney Island via Local - No service to/from Manhattan and Queens

(Q) Prospect Park to Coney Island

(B) Coney Island to 145 St/Bedford Pk Blvd (Culver/PS/Viaduct Express)

(S) Prospect Park to Brighton Beach (Brighton Express)

NOTE

Use (2)(3) Grand Army Plaza for 7 Av (B)(Q)

(S) runs 2 Consists. One starts at Brighton Beach, the other at Prospect Park. Trains leave terminals every 10 mins.

NEXT

Due to a bomb scare, no trains can stop at Times Square (A)(C)(E)(N)(Q)(R)(W)(S)(1)(2)(3)(7)<7>. Reroute accordingly.

Hmm... If the trains cant run through there:

(A) runs on the (D) from 59th-42nd, and on the local (F)(M) tracks between 34th and West 4th.

(C) suspended, to be replaced by the (A) making local stops. (capacity constraints on 6th Avenue)

(E) runs on the (F) or (M) line between Queens and Manhattan.

(N)(Q) no service between QBP or 57th Street (alternating trains would run between Astoria-QBP or Astoria-57th Street) and Pacific Street.

(R) Some trains from Brooklyn terminate at Whitehall Street. Other trains would run via the (B)(D) from Dekalb to Rockefeller Center, then run via the (F) or (M) to Queens.

(1) No trains between 96th St and 14th St. Downtown trains run express from 14th to Chambers due to the track layout at 14th.

(2) Alternating trains run via the Lex. Some trains run between 241-96 and between Atlantic-Flatbush (via express Atlantic-Franklin). (4) and (5) trains would run local between Atlantic and Franklin for relaying operations at Atlantic.

(3) no service between 96th St and Atlantic Av. Some (4) trains could be extended to New Lots for service.

(7) Alternating trains terminate at either Grand Central or QBP.

Some (F) trains could run on the Crosstown due to capacity constraints on 6th Avenue as well.

And for one last item, the (N) can not travel via Sea Beach because of the overhaul of that line. The same applies with the (7) and (S) along 42nd St.

It has been edited accordingly.

Next: Due to an extreme heat problem, no NTT's can run on any uncovered portions of track.

Fits today's weather! I feel like their aren't enough cars to replace the NTT's though...

B Division:

All R160's are stored inside at Coney Island or Jamaica Yard.

(B) service runs local. (Q) service is reduced to 4 TPH. Some (D) service runs via the (N) line. (N) service is reduced to 4 TPH.

All (F) trains come from Coney Island Yard. Service reduced to 8 TPH.

(J)/(Z) service is suspended in Brooklyn & Queens. Use free shuttle buses. (J) trains run Broad Street-Essex Street, on a single track.

(M) trains terminate at 2nd Avenue. Use free shuttle buses in Brooklyn.

A Division:

(2) & (5) train R142's are stored at E. 180th Street & 241st Street.

(4) & (5) use some Livonia Yard R62's. (2) service is suspended, use (3) & (5).

(6) service is reduced, <6> service is suspended.

I think that's all, but I don't think there are enough cars to do this...

Due to an overload on the power grid, NO TRAINS CAN STOP/TERMINATE AT, or GO BELOW Kings Highway (F)(N)(Q), or a specific part of Brooklyn will lose power. Reroute accordingly. Remember, on trains can stop or terminate at Kings Highway, or go past it.

(F) terminates at 18th Av

(N) runs via the (D) to Coney Island

(B)(Q) terminate at Prospect Park

----

NEXT

A Manhattan bound (A) train derailed at the Jay Street (A)(C)(F) station.

No foaming or all hell will break loose in my response.

Assuming that only the Manhattan bound (A) track is affected (if both (A) tracks are unusable, the result is the same):

(C) No trains south of the World Trade Center. If necessary, some trains relay via the middle track north of Chambers St.

(A) Trains run in two sections:

.........207 St to Jay St (F) track. Because the (A) and (F) combined are less than 30 tph, this should work. Trains relay via Bergen Lower or Church Av.

.........Queens to Hoyt-Schermerhorn St, every 15 minutes. Trains run as follows:

..................Westbound trains run local to Hoyt St.

..................Eastbound trains, after originating at Hoyt St, wrong rail to Lafayette Av on the Manhattan-bound express track, then via the crossovers to the eastbound express track. Trains run express to Utica Av, then local to Queens.

Additional (A) trains operate between B'way Junction and Queens. Customers advised to use (J) or (L) service between Manhattan and Broadway Jct.

NEXT

Because of a switch problem, World Trade Center station is unusable - the (A) and (C) are not affected. Reroute the (E), being careful not to put more than 30 tph on one track.

Now I like the way you work B). Assuming that we are only dealing with the (A) track.

(A) Utica Av to Far Rockaway

(A) Chambers St to 207 St

(C) Utica Av to Lefferts Blvd

(C) WTC to 168 St

(S) Utica Av to Hoyt St

I think that one track can handle more than 30tph... after all, if something happens on 7th Avenue the (2)(4)(5) have no real problems going down Lex in the morning rush and I'm sure that's well over 30tph.

Anyways...

(E) to 2nd Avenue. If my numbers are correct on the tph chart I made, that's 32tph which can be handled with minimal delays. If anything, just reduce (E) train service or run them with the little delays.

If that were the case, why wouldn't the MTA just add (4) or (5) trains?

And I don't think that the (E) to 2 Av would work. The MTA says that the Queens Bl express tracks are at capacity - that would mean the (E)(F) max out a track. Adding the (M) would not work.

As for your scenario:

(B) Suspended

(D) Two sections: 205 St to 34 St and 57 St/7 Av to Coney Island. Transfer between trains at 34 St.

NEXT

A major smoke condition closes 23 St/8 Av.

How would the (D)(E)(F) fit on one track? And how would a downtown (D) train, after running on 8 Av, get to the Manhattan Bridge?
